[yea, sure. I haven't seen steampunk on much, not even in the mod suite, which even when I have writers block, I still go on D8
and Danny (`smarts) has been a bit busy, and I don't think Sapphire's at the top of his 'most important updates' list.]
'Ugh, more wanderers?' Ebenezer growled. 'I'm not sure how much more of this I can take, it's a distraction to my troops.'
Ebenezer promptly disappeared and reappeared directly behind the visitors, asking 'Can I help you, sir and ma'am?'

He was the third person Kiendo and he had deemed as most likely to be important, and simply by virtue of the fact that he was approaching them it seemed that their guess had been correct. "Sir? It's been a long time since someone called me sir." Relako said with a small laugh. People tended not to talk to fallen angels, and even few tending to be polite towards them. "But I suppose you can. You see, we were hoping to join up with Deralo's army." Relako didn't mention the fact that he had originally wanted to join Zen's army, but he deemed that fact as unimportant. This man didn't need to know why they wanted to join, just that they did. As long as they helped Deralo, what was the point in questioning his motives? It wasn't like he was a spy for Zen. He didn't even know the guy.

Ebenezer raised a single eyebrow, then closed his eyes and tried to explain. 'There is no sign-up sheet, you don't come and ask.' He continued. 'You come and fight, when a battle arises, simple as that. In these times, that's all there is to it.'

Relako raised an eyebrow right back at the man. "That doesn't sound like much of an army." he commented with a small chuckle. War was a horrible thing for most people. He couldn't see why most of the humans would willingly stick around. They must simply enjoy the feel of battle, like Relako. "People free to come and go as they wish? It's a wonder Deralo's survived this long if that's how you run this place." Relako said with a laugh. It wasn't like he was trying to intentionally insult Deralo, it was just simple logic in his opinion. If you gave people the option to fight or flee, more often than not they would choose to flee. If they hadn't figured out that system was a very ineffective way to run an army, then they must not have been in a lot of battles yet. Of course, from the look of things around here, it seemed they might have learned their lesson. Whatever battle they had just come from must have taken a large toll on their army.

[yep, I figured.]
'With all due respect, it's typically common knowledge that there is an appointed regime, a rather large one at that.' Ebenezer said with a barely distinguishable scowl. 'All who wish to join in the midst of war, that is, not in peacetime, are suggested to simply show up at battle. The soldiers already serving, signing up during peacetime, are treated differently. They are not allowed to 'come and go.' Please do not underestimate out forces, and at the very least, do not associate the results of the previous battle with any regime under /my/ watch.'

Kiendo was silent and just listened to the conversation, since Relako was handing it well enough.
"This is the second time I've been confused as a woman...Do I really look that feminine?" He wondered quietly to himself.

(That's okay actually. Kiendo has a frail figure so it's easy to be confused)

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Whatever this man said, it still seemed like very bad way to run an army. Just have people show up during a battle to help out? "How do you alert people who might be intrested that a battle is about a happen?" Relako asked curiously, pointing out possibly one of the biggest holes in the system. Plenty of people might be intrested, but never know when a battle was actually going to happen, or would be too far away when it started to get there in time. That was why you had people sign up and monitor them. That way you could get the word out faster and make sure everyone is nearby when the battle started. That was when he heard Kiendo's comment. He was sorely tempted to reply with some kind of smart remark, but actually decided to hold his tongue this time.

'Most people sign up before wars happen, and when rallies occur in places like Tower Town, as last time, anyone who wants to help at that moment then has the chance to. This is a pretty well-known system, and you're the only two we've had show up and ask to join in the midst of a war.' Ebenezer explained.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Relako simply shrugged before replying. "We only heard about the war earlier today." he answered. He didn't know about Kiendo, but Relako has been in areas that news of the war hadn't exactly seemed to reach. Like in the Village of the Ancients, in the middle of Sotdusk Desert, where they had met and James had finally realized that Relako wasn't exactly a model citizen. The reason Relako wasn't familiar with the 'well-known' system was for a similar reason. As a demon hunter, he was usually found in exotic places where most people feared to tred, so he wasn't usually up to date with current news. He still didn't think it was a very efficent system, and it could use some work, but it looked like they would just have to wait until the next battle. "Well, Kiendo, seems you've got some more researching time." he said with a small chuckle.

Kiendo couldn't help but think the exact same things as Relako, "How can an army be so disorganized? Is the world really in danger?" He pondered and shrugged, "I suppose researching is the only thing I can do right now, but from what I understand you don't like reading," He joked to Relako. He was also a little clueless of the current events, because his researching had brought him to many places that have old records of ancient civilizations.

'I still don't believe you fully understand that our entire army is exactly as you were suggesting, and that you two are the only exceptions, but getting past that, is this the only reason you're here?' Ebenezer said, a bit disgruntled.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Relako chuckled at Kiendo's response. "I can probably find a good book on dark magic." he replied as he turned back to face Kiendo. Of course he probably knew everything any such book might tell him, but they could practice with Kiendo's ability while waiting to test it in a real life situation. "Ya, that's all we came for, so I guess we'll be off." he said with a wave to Ebenezer, who was now behind him. They should have joined Zen's army. At least it was probably more well organized than Deralo's. The war was probably going to go to Zen if Deralo couldn't get its act together. "So where to, Kiendo?"

"That was a disappointment...I'm not a strategist, but even I know about the importance of being unified. Is this really the Deralo Army?" Kiendo pondered and followed Relako, not caring if Relako replied to it, "And I wouldn't really know of any places. Anywhere in particular you wanted to visit?" He asked.
