Where is this hall of fame of which we speak? *scratches head*

IT'S FAT TUESDAAAAAAAAY! > biggrin
But that means tomorrow's ash wednesday. which means horror for my Christian school.
But yes, Happy Mardi gras. I threw some beads at my friends this morning.

I think I know the topless glitch of which she speaks, but I don't know where the hall of fame is either. Aly seems to know. O_o she showed me. Apparently I am the clan ankle biter. Duhr.

I don't celebrate it. In fact, when the lady came in with a shaitload of beads EVERYONE BUT ME went up and got some. Then some kid threatened to throw a necklace on me and I hid under my desk.
"BUT I'M STILL A VIRGIN!" I kept yelling that at my friend when she asked me why I didn't get any. xD

I got a bead necklace and a slice of king cake. Appearently, the local custom once involved putting a plastic baby in the cake and if your piece had it, you had to hold the next fat tuesday party 3nodding

...lol what?
And the 'Hall of Fame' is in the Rules post, actually.

KING KAKE!!! I love that stuff, but usually we only eat near the end of the year. I was thinking about flashing to a friend for one of his bead necklaces, but decided against it. sweatdrop

Alysoun, the term is pronounced "Hall'O'Fame" not that bleary term everyone uses, "Hall of Fame"

Ah! So that's where the Hall'O'Fame is! ^_^ I be in it! *hyperventilates*
I take it Fat Tuesday and beads is an American thing??

Honestly couldn't tell ya'. It's before lent and giving up something you cherish for a certain amount of time( week/months?). Mardi Gras is usually held in Luisiana, but it was actually canceled because of flooding at one point.

It's prolly american, but it could be that no one else cares. I don't have calenders from other nations, but I wouldn't be surprised if no one else celebrated their own version of Presidents day. Ridiculous day really, seeing as we have July 4th, and the pledge of allegience in schools. sweatdrop

well, in fact, mardi gras is more like a national type of holiday. very big in europe as well, you know. that's where it started. It's true nobody celebrates it like we do over here, but it's generally popular everywhere.

Its more of a religious thing for Catholicism for me, because on Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday), We have to overindulge on our precious delights so that once ash Wednesday comes, we have to begin fasting for 40 days and 40 nights just as Jesus did in the desert. Your supposed give up something, but a lot of people don't, giving reason, and making up imaginary rules.
