Biting her lower lip, Christiana hesitated for a long moment, debating on the wisdom of sitting alone with a complete stranger. Her brother would not be pleased were he to find out and her father was anything like her brother he probably wouldn't either. Then again, she couldn't shake the feeling that she knew this room, this man and that she was safe enough. She felt safe, and though it might seem foolish, she learned at a very young age to trust her instincts and her feelings. Her mind made the decision for her, while she had been pondering what to do, she had wandered over to the ornate rug. Seeing as she was already there, she sank gracefully to the ground, tucking her feet under her. Watching the flames dance in the fireplace, she allowed a soft smile to curve her lips. The light cast from the fire gathered in a pool about them and danced along the walls, seeming to toy with the shadows that resided there. "You aren't related to my father as well are you?" she asked quietly, curious. They had asked their father about a wife and other children, but hadn't thought to ask about other relatives.

I turned to look at her, then shook my head. "Nope." I said, rocking back on my heels slightly. Frankly, I was a bit glad I wasn't related to Lucid. Being related to him would mean I would have to be around more. The man seemed stressed enough. He really didn't need me on top of it all. "So do you have a name, or shall I just call you Girl?"

Smothering a laugh, Chrissy looked up at him, her eyes dancing with laughter and the flickering light of the fire. "Christiana." she answered quietly, and studied him for a long moment. Glancing over at the blade that sat in the corner she returned her gaze to him. "So, do you have a name or do I just call you guy with the creepy, magic sword?" she asked, once again struggling not to laugh out loud. She had this feeling that he wouldn't appreciate it.

I actually did laugh, deep inside myself. Information for information. That was the way I did things. "Arjay." I said quietly. It felt right to give her my name. For some reason I had no trouble telling her things..not thus far anyway. With most other people, I would zip my lips and tell them nothing. And other than Lyra, I don't think I have ever felt more comfortable. Watching the flames, I pondered this for a moment before letting go of it. I could think about such things later. "The sword isn't magical. It's possessed. His name is Hiratoshi." I said, my voice low.

Chrissy smile widened and lit her face at his laughter. Arjay, the name suited him, she thought quietly. It surprised her that she was as comfortable with him as she was with her twin. As for his information about the sword, well that made sense. no wonder she had briefly felt another presence, though the thought made her frown. the weapon had to powerful, exceedingly so, she had been told long ago that it would very difficult for anything to possess her. She remembered being confined in a room and told to hold ancient relics, her brother as well. For her to actually feel the presence of the soul in the sword in her mind for even a moment wasn't a good thing. "So that's what it was trying to do..." she muttered, wondering briefly what the sword would have done had it managed to control her. Shaking her head, she couldn't help the slight shiver that she felt crawl over her skin. Somehow she was fairly sure she didn't really want to know. "I see," she whispered softly, not sure what else to say.

Something in her voice made me glance at her. "It won't try to take you over unless it were trying to get back to me." I said, not really sure how reassuring that sounded. Shifting my gaze back to the fire, I shrugged slightly. "It seems to be quite fine with possessing me most of the time." I added, feeling the need to explain. "Thus far, I'm the strongest it has come into contact with."

"Fun," Christiana muttered under her breath and automatically she reached to comfort. Her and moved to grip his and she squeezed gently, trying to convey without words that she understood, a least a little bit of what he must be going through. Any item that still possessed the soul of another could be living hell, most especially if that soul was capable of possessing the living. "I'm sorry," she whispered, lifting her gaze to meet his once more. His eyes are so gray, she thought, fascinated by them. So gray they almost seemed silver in the light of the fire.

I made the mistake of looking back at her. The compassion was very obvious in her eyes. For reasons unknown to me, I gave her a smile. A genuine one. I usually have to force them out of hiding on pain of death, but I found it came easy this time. "Don't be sorry." I said. I understood why she'd said so, but it wasn't her problem. "I will eventually be free of him." I clenched my jaw in reflex as pain seared through my head again. The damn thing was protesting again. I managed to hide this from my expression. I quickly silenced my mind, shutting out the pain and funneling it back into the weapon. With enough effort on my part, I managed to get it to stop. Leaning forward slightly, I rested my head in one hand, messaging my temples lightly. Those who think we vampires are impervious to pain are dead wrong.

Christiana winced for him when she realized that he was in pain. His expression hid it well but a clenched jaw and massaging his temples gave it away. Once again reaching out she brushed her fingers lightly across his forehead, surprised that his skin felt warm against her fingertips. Most vampires skin remained very cool to the touch. Being a vampiress she knew better than to try and use healing magic to ease the pain, her touch was more to just soothe and comfort than anything. "Someday." she confirmed softly, glad that he still had hope.

Another smile touched my lips. She was rather sweet, much like her father when he felt in the mood to be. This thought was soothing in itself. Most people, upon learning that there is a weapon powerful enough to possess me in the room, run like hell or try to do something stupid. I found myself fairly glad that she'd done neither of those. I also found myself at a loss for words now. Since conversation wasn't something I usually involved myself in, I wasn't very well versed in it. Returning my gaze to the fire, I stared into the flames, wondering what exactly I should say.

Christiana felt the silence stretch between them and as awkward as it felt, it wasn't as uncomfortable as it would normally have been. Pleased to have been able to make him smile, she played absently wit a few strands of her hair. Looking over at him from the corner of her eye she wondered what she was supposed to do now. Biting her lip gently, she studied the flickering flames and after several minutes she rose to her feet. "So..do you spend any time in here...ever?" she asked with a laugh, seeing the neat and smoothed bed-covers. The trunk still had a candle that had yet to be lit sitting in the center of it. The only thing that showed any sign of use was the large stone hearth that set in the center of the wall facing the room.

I glanced around the room and shook my head gently. Truth was I was hardly in this room at all really. I spent most of my time either talking to Lucid about the sword, or out on the cliffs watching the water. "No, not really." I said quietly, gazing back at the fire. Unsure of what else to say, I kept quiet, watching the flames work their way through the logs in the fireplace.

Christiana remained quiet for several minutes, letting the silence between them stretch to the point where she finally couldn't stand it any more. Reaching out she waved a hand in front of Arjays face and smiled. "Okay...I'm going to start having a one sided conversation in a minute, and trust me you don't want me to start asking questions, then trying to guess the answers for myself....I can come up with really weird s**t." she announced and sank back down onto the rug. "So....don't talk to very many people do you?" she asked, then decided while she was at it she might as well get all of her questions out. "Is that because you don't like people in general or because of the sword? How long can he control you? Do you remember what he makes you do? Does he talk to you, is that how you know his name or did someone else tell it to you?" She paused and drew in a deep breath, she started to start again with another spiel when she saw his face...she laughed instead...fairly sure he was probably never going to want to talk to her again.

Lucid stood at the water's edge, watching the waves in silence. His daughter had left him earlier and now he was contemplating. Things might not be so bad, like he had first thought. Some things were actually looking up a bit. Lyra was his first priority though. He was going to have to do some digging around on his own soon. He'd already sent Seth out for more information. Now all he could do was wait until his son returned. He heaved a small sigh, his gaze unwavering from the horizon.

Lyra shivered a bit in the cool night air. It wasn't too cold outside just yet, but it could get chilly fast if you weren't dressed fr it. Which of course she wasn't, but then again she didn't really know where her clothes came from. She wondered if the spell cast on the rooms changed the style of the clothing with the weather. The very thought of it made her smile a little. Seeing Lucid, she tilted her head and watched him for a long moment. As always, the man looked so alone. It wasn't that it was his nature, though that was also solitary, it was just that he always seemed as if he had to take the world on by himself. Like he never expected anyone to step up and stand beside him. Shaking her head, she slowly made her way toward him. "Hey stranger...what are you looking at." she called when she was just a few feet away.
