Lin nodded at this, well there was always a chance to find out more durijng this trip. Besides, Aragost and Lothiriel in their own ways just knew. So that was different from actually find out, kind of like stalking.... only she was doing it less to have Gwaethir get use to her and more to figure him out.

"I will," she told him, "There are still things I'm trying to figure out and I can't ask him."

Because as she learned, she wouldn't get a straight answer... most of the time.

Feng stroked Adonijah's hair, though she had to admit and it was clear from the way she looked at her brother, that she was completely confused as to why Adonijah had calmed down the way he had. She had half expected him to pull the same stunt he had on Ryu back at breakfast, but he didn't seem to be doing that at all.

So the question was, what happened to Adonijah?

Adonijah snuggled down a bit more comfortably in Feng's arms, then stuck one thumb in his mouth and began to suck gently on it. His free hand snaked up and curled around Feng's arm.

"Tahhh," he murmured softly, pressing his cheek against the skin of her arm.



Elros smiled and nodded. "Of course," he agreed; and he moved to get the papers from Lin's previous work.

Adonijah fidgeted a bit, his brow furrowing slightly. Why wasn't the griffin answering him?

"Taahhh," he said again, his thumb slipping out of his mouth. "Taahh?"

He waited a moment, then tried again, calling out this time with a pree of curiosity.

Adonijah felt Tao playing with his hair and he giggled softly. He loved it when she did that. He didn't know exactly why she did it, but it made him feel as if she were looking out for him, just like his parents did.

"Don't go away," he requested to Tao in her own language. "I like that ..."

Adonijah sighed happily and stuck his tongue back into his mouth, sucking on it contentedly as Tao continued to play with his hair.

Just then, two elves appeared out of the treeline - Lothiriel, her long ringlets pulled back from her face in an attempt to tame them, and Pen, his hands stuck deep in his pockets as he followed silently after her.

Lothiriel smiled brightly when she saw Feng and Ryu with Adonijah and Tao, and she waved to them as easily as if she had always known them.

"Hello!" she called out brightly, changing direction slightly to head directly towards them. "Feng and Ryu, right?"

Pen nudged her gently. "Not so loud, you might wake up the kid," he nodded at Adonijah, who looked as if he was asleep in Feng's arms.

Adonijah however was not asleep - and when he heard Lothiriel calling out, his eyes opened wide with fear of the new voice that was approaching. That was when he realized that he wasn't with his mother at all, but with Feng - and he squealed and scrambled to his hands and knees, crawling backwards away from her as fast as he could, looking around wildly for Tao so that she could protect him again.
