She wasn't sure what to say; Who did after hearing a tale like that? Orika's tongue tied itself into knots, making it difficult to answer all of Sorri's questions. It would have been better if he was reluctant to talk about the past, as Shisei and Karite always were. Would it be better to chat a lot, tell the Ibazi all she knew or offer an empathy? She wasn't sure. But her loud nature did not allow silence except with adults so Orika blurted out the first thing that came to mind, "You were shorter back then!" She turned pink once the words reached her head and apologized by spewing even more nonsense, "I mean, that was so long ago, like ages and you were so tiny 'cause you know people grow, even clowns. But they're bad, yes, bad. I'm not a clown lover! And uh, I bet Ero isn't either. No, she can't be. That'd be silly. Uh, um...!" Orika bit down on her tongue and turned away from Sorri, blanching, still surprised that she had blabber that stream of... she wasn't even sure what to call it.
Now the girl was staring at the opposite side of the room, at Shinichi-sensei coming in with... food? Karite and Shisei had already eaten almost all of the sushi! "Greedy pigs!" she shouted, storming in their direction and snatching a pair of chopsticks for herself. Great, how did one hold these things again? It was embarrassing, but Orika always used a spoon to eat her food, her chubby fingers never possessing the needed dexterity. While their sensei stared puzzled at snake boy's bow, she snuck in and stabbed one chopstick into the final piece and a tiny one at that! The girl didn't eat the meager lunch until after she scolded her friends, "That was supposed to feed the entire class! Are you two so obsessed about getting ahead that you don't care about anyone else? No wonder you guys don't have friends! You'd just steal from them to get stronger yourselves. No one's gonna want to be on your team, even if you're more skilled than the Kage!" Orika stared at the piece she'd taken and hesitated before splitting it in half, one tinier piece on each chopstick. She stuffed one chopstick in her mouth and chewed, savoring what didn't amount to a snack, much less a meal. Glaring at the two guys, she turned her back to them and fumed all the way back to where Sorri was hanging.
"They're disgusting," she muttered, dropping half of the chopstick on a desk to leave the food end of it hanging in midair. The girl blinked at Sorri before remembering their conversation. Now that she had something in her belly, it was easier to concentrate. "Oh, wow! I didn't know Ero's been out that long. You two seemed close." A cough sounded behind her and Orika turned in time to see Shinichi-sensei look away. Was that guilt in his eyes? Nah. She turned back and offered a comforting smile, looking up at the boy with bigger muscles than any of them, "You want to visit her after class?" Orika asked, eager to see Ero herself, "No, actually, I came with Ichi-sama the first ninjas. But I do remember the island before we built everything. It was all green, like the forests, but you couldn't tell where one end began and another ended except when it reached the oceans. Um, my mum was worried about wild animals because BakaLao-sama got his arm broken by a wild boar, but I think Shuga-sama went hunting and killed all the beasts. But you shoulda seen how pretty everything was! Though it would be hard to walk to school in that tangled brush." She giggled and made the motion of picking their way through a dense jungle, complete with machete action.
+1 to Sorri (after that failure post below this one, of course wink )

For the sushiiiiii!!
Sorri's thoughts replayed in urgency in his head he could almost taste the fish in the air. He sniffed again then took a look over his shoulder at Shinichi, only to see a heart breaking sit, all the sushi was gone! He let go of the bar in his despairs and dropped onto his feet. He listened to Orika as he turned around, she took his attention and slight anger against the two boys and did away with it. She had split with Sorri the piece she had slipped up, and two figure, for a moment there, he thought she was coming to boast. she smiled and then he went into a smile too. "Yeah..going to see her would be nice." He nodded and then listened in on her story of the village, he could grasp the image of the beauty she spoke of, he group up in the tundra, ice , clouded like clouds went on for miles. He chuckled at her imitation of jungle adventuring. He his piece of sushi and licked his lips, it didn't full his tummy, it was still some sustained energy.

He nodded at Orika so h could confirm a silent see ya later and performed a leaping sprint to the door way and then performed a few deep breaths to re-steady his breathing before going into the run for success. He looked down at his toes and clinched them into cracking before leaning into a sprinting pose. A small ogust of wind blew just before lunched for his first step and grabbed at the bar with his right hand. He then quickly slapped his left hand against the bar and grabbed it, the pain was upstage by the fear of falling again.

While the others around her had continued to work, Serena had somehow lost all focus on anything at the moment. Her grey eyes were low to the ground, struggling to stay open. It wasn't until the sound of lunch that she had turned to look for whatever it was the teacher had thrown up. Pretty much, while she was watching, her fellow classmates had gotten to reaching for the five pieces...which meant there were really none left for her at all. The Raiken sighed a bit but thought about it for a second. Really..just how would even five pieces of sushi be enough for any of them? Plus it would take a few hours to get the energy from the sushi pieces..maybe it would work though. She really didn't know, and of course..there was no point in thinking about that now since all the sushi was gone anyways...Serena looked back up at the bar and decided she would start again with a yawn.

As the snake child walked back to his lowered bar, he could hear the fuming voice of the farm girl behind him. Shisei pivoted his head slightly to let one gold orb stare back at the girl with an eyebrow slightly slanted. Did she have a problem with everything he did? “No one ever said each person had to get one. I didn’t steal anything. You guys just were not fast enough. Be more alert next time and maybe you would have gotten a bigger piece.” the viper student replied as he watched girl move to the snow haired teen. Her tanned fingers broke the meager piece of sushi into an even more scantly piece. An ant probably wouldn’t be satisfied by that. For someone smart enough to make a trap to catch the little snake she did not think ahead very much. Or was very rational. “You know breaking it in half isn’t going to satisfy either of you…. feh. Whatever. Do what you want.” the small Orochi replied disgusted. At least if it was one piece, one of them would have been partially satisfied. Orika should have kept the whole thing for herself. Well at least they got something unlike some other people. That is when Shisei turned to his self proclaimed intellectual rival. “At least they got a piece. You seem too sluggish to have gotten some food. Are you that tired? For someone who called me their rival I’d expect a little more vigor. If not we’ll all finish before you… Raiken Serena.” amber eyes stated to the tired girl. Shisei felt tired too, but he was doing his best to put up the veil of alertness and that his leg hadn’t been bothering him. The serpent youth made his way underneath the bar, getting ready for another attempt.

Serena turned to see who had come to interrupt her in her quiet, tired state. Of course..it would just have to be Shisei..probably come to mock her for being so tired. As expected, a line of criticism came out of the boy's mouth..but the Raiken really wasn't bothered by it this time. She only felt the weight from the lack of sleep drop down on her even more as she jumped up and grabbed the bar. "Well good for you, for having all this energy to stay up...since you're not as sluggish as me, let's see you hurry up and finish your pull-ups." Serena gripped the bar tightly and pulled herself up for one. It wasn't as bad as before..but still a bit of a struggle. She slowly let herself back down to hang from the bar again and thought about Shisei's comment for a minute.."So...who did you get my name from?" She had remembered that the boy had left before he got her name..something urgent to tend to or something. After asking so, the Raiken realized that it was a pretty stupid question. Anyone could have told him..or could have called her name during class. With a deep breath, she tried to gather more energy to complete the assignment.

Sorri's right hand was slipping already and he looked up at i in a self defeat. He let the bar go to examine his hands to figure out the cause of slippage. They were wet...why would his hands b- the sushi, oh the delectable goodness of that snack was his do in. Sorri grabbed at his pants and made sure he he gave his hands a good rubbing and now hi pants were stained and dity, ah well. Back to the bar. He thought about his hoodie, but it was buried in snow He took his s**t offand tossed it over th bar and grabbed it at the other si to wipe the bar.

"Well, you're pretty mouthy there, Orochi Shisei," a voice called from the doorway. "And Raiken, you're a little snappy too. Teaching competition, Harada Shinichi? Perhaps you all would prefer fighting alone, instead of with a group to back you up. Quickest way to die right there," Natamo shook her head, the curtain of long, straight (still) black hair falling around her shoulders. She eyed the small child in the ANBU's care, and wondered where it had come from. With a smile, she held her hands out to the small monkey, because while Natamo could think of shinobi-in-training as small people, this little cuddly thing was simply another matter of beast that had to be dealt with.

(Man, I've been really inactive... I think I'm going to have Kiba leave since he's so far behind and go do something else until the next academy day... XP)
Kiba, having wondered into an empty classroom, was quite surprised that despite all of his waiting no one had arrived yet. Little did the young Raiken know that nearby there was much activity going on. Oh well. Feeling rather lonely the dark eyed Raiken decided finally to leave the academy and see what else he could do. Maybe he could still do something productive even if he was not acually in class... who knows? Whatever the case he left the academy to go see what else there was to do...

Shinichi's barking, cruel laughter broke out as a conflict started after Shisei ate most of the food. He couldn't care less about who got hurt or whether friendships were broken. "Survival of the fittest... Been too long since we've seen any of that!" he mumbled, getting up to return the tray when the swordsboy sped out of class without warning. "You're an idiot!" Shinichi yelled after him, chucking the plate after Kiba. Luckily, the ceramic oval landed a few metres short, broken in half on the snow. "What kind of swordsman runs away from a little strength training! You'd have been done in minutes with those muscles. Weakling!" A snarl escaped the ANBU's lips as he turned back, scowling, to the class. "Come on, class," he called, clapping scarred hands together, "You guys have stuck out this far. Don't give up or slow your pace. I'll teach you something very useful after everyone's done, but not until then." Hopefully they continue to help each other out, speed things up a wee bit. And ai ai ai, speaking of the perfect motivator... "Aye, no shinobi stands alone well. Even I have Noburo, the giant feather-brained whiner you may see flapping about, for aid. Natamo-san here's worked well with her cannibal, Dhan the Destroyer," the ANBU pointed out, air-tracing the woman's curves while pretending to be introducing her. With a cough, he switched back to the serious young man most knew him as, the lines etched on his brow darkening immensely, "I'm sure you guys heard about our Kage-sama, Uchiha Ichi. His team mate, the damned b*****d Orochi Sachiriku turned on him and joined forces with another wimpy Orochi to petrify Ichi-sama. Anyone going into battle alone will die, guaranteed."
Ayumi teared up at the harsh look the big red haired man gave her after he said her name. Orochi. Mama never called her that, but Daddy told her lots of stories about Orochi. She didn't understand why the big man was nice to her one minute and mean the next. The girl chewed on her cotton green tail, tiny fangs ripping through the worn stitches, as she waited for Mama to show and feed her. A growl suddenly erupted from her stomach, scaring the toddler so that she let out a piercing scream, her throat still sore from crying all day. She wanted to go home! Where was Mama?! Through blurry eyes, the baby saw a woman reach out to her. Glad to have somebody notice her, she cooed and crawled on the desk towards the long-haired lady, not noticing that the boundaries of that desk ended with a possibly fatal fall.

Natamo blinked and let out a smirk as she realized exactly what Shinichi had implied. With a soft rumble of laughter, she shot Shinichi a dirty, yet devious look, and eyed the rest of the class. "I think, Harada-san, that no one here's ready to go outside, much less into battle. The weather will certainly be the cause of their death - fighting off a cold is the first real challenge shinobi this young face. Let's see how many of them survive. I'm betting...well, the field isn't any good, but if I have to bet, I'd bet the Orochi gives in first. The Rice Country was a lot warmer than here..." Natamo trailed off, seemingly in thought when she was really just taunting the kids. There were no animals here, so they weren't useful to her. "Or maybe the girls will go first, though Orika over there does work hard. How's your mother, by the way? I haven't been by to see her or the water oxen - how's Kuu?" Natamo rambled easily, leaning against the wall of the classroom. Between the Raiken girl and the Orochi, she was willing to bet one of them would get sick...soon. With a start, Natamo realized that the small child was crawling...OFF THE DESK!!! Lunging forward in the nick of time, she caught the girl and coddled her, studying her physical features and finding that she didn't mind them at all. The kid, in short, was cute. She purred and rubbed her nose against the girl's - because, like all animal lovers, eskimo kisses were the number one brand of kisses. Period.

Woah, that was not the response he had been expected. Finally, a woman that didn't find him utterly distasteful, or was Natamo just playing with him? Things had been so much simpler with Ichi, where it was just talk, talk, touch, kiss, and bending ov- Shinichi reddened with a low-set growl in response to his embarrassing thoughts. He shot Natamo a scanning look, too stubborn to back down however reserved he was. He shot back with a wolfish grin, though following by shaking his head, which jostled the messy ponytail hanging over his right shoulder. "You're worried about the kids getting a cold? Well, maybe Karite. He's wearing almost as little as that Meho vixen. By the way, what are you doing here?" A moment paused where Shinichi let his eyes wander around ther room before a shriek brought him back to attention. He sighed as the troublesome Orochi girl nearly got herself killed. At least that would ensure she wouldn't grow up to breed anymore of their kind. Shinichi waltzed over and patted the girl on the back, though, relieved that nothing had happened.
Ayumi giggled at the warm woman as she caught her. She had enjoyed that little drop, not aware of the danger to her health. Ooh, a nose rubbing! The girl threw her arms in the air, cooing cutely as she eskimo kissed back.
Orika had wandered over to a strange metal pole at the back of the class. Someone had scrawled the word 'striper' on the side, but the girl didn't understand what they meant. To her, the pole resembled the towering bamboo stalks she had been trying to climb so she hopped up and grab hold of the pole with both hands, trying to yank her body up, but to no success. If the pull ups were tough because of her sweaty hands, then this was impossible! Orika groaned and laid out on the icy ground, enjoying the ice pack on her sore muscles. She had been able to fall into a nap when Sorri's question resounded in her head. "Huh? Oh... Um, I think I'd rather go visit Ero. Much rather." she muttered, not liking the word 'friends'. Friends treated each other fairly. The girl clutched at her raging stomach and muttered something to herself about choosing better friends next time. She didn't want to believe that the two boys had been so selfish, but the truth was right in front of her. Orika's rusty eyes brightened when Natamo-san came into the room, who she greeted with an energetic wave. "Mum's in good health, though she really sullen at the Kage being missing. They were real close, ya know. Kuu? He and Shu-chan've been a little naughty together, if you know what I mean. I think I felt a little bulge under Shu this morning!" the girl giggled.

Shisei crouched low and leaped into the air like a frightened grasshopper. His arms extended and fingers curled around the bar. The boy remained hanging and pivoted his head to just barely catch the form of sly smile, who wasn’t smiling at this point in time. Inward, the snake youth was grinning. The mysterious girl had let all that enigmatic flare disappear once deprivation of sleep started. Just all the more made the snake youth feel like antagonizing her. His face remained lifeless though. Before he could heckle her his form would have to finish the pull ups first. “You’re name? Karite had called you by it earlier. It is a nice name. Sadly you’re not living up to it. As slow as you and Karite are going I probably will finish before you.” the snake child stated. Before he could make his attempt he heard a voice call his name. Not wanting to release his hold the Orochi born cocked his head a little bit more. The pressure in his neck was making him shake while on the bar, but Shisei persisted.
One gold eye managed to make out a woman with raven rivers of hair in a leather vest and gloves. This new woman and Ero-sensei, who turned a shade of pink for a nano second, were conversing. They were making bets on who would be next to finish. Well Shisei would have to prove this woman wrong. Betting against Shisei would just put her in debt. “Don’t underestimate me. I didn’t live in Rice Country for very long. I do have knowledge of the cold.” the serpent youth replied. It was true he had experienced some forms of winter. Still this place was colder than what he expected. Back in his old home winter would not have started then. Home….
The child’s thoughts were interrupted by the voice of Orika. She murmured something softly, but the viper genius heard it. She wanted to go with the snow head? Fine then. The snake youth returned his head forward. He needed to concentrate on his training and not on useless people.

Both arms began to retract and Orochi youth’s body slowly began to rise. The purple dreads were first to pass the bar. Then was the amber suns. The little stubbly nose came right after. Finally lips and chin. The boy had made his entire head pass the bar. His fingers and arms then slowly allowed the small skeleton to descend, but not too quickly. If that happened then his grip may have faltered and Shisei would have to start all over again. It wasn’t something the snake youth wanted to do especially since he was already behind. The tart and farm girl had already finished the exercise. Shisei didn’t want to be left behind anymore, especially since the two teachers were against him. Ero-sensei had also stated something about the Orochis turning there beloved Kage to stone. The serpent youth did not really care about the Kage or this Sachiriku. He had never met them. Still Ero-sensei did bring up a good point. In battle alone the chances of death dramatically rose. Shisei would need to invest in some expendable teammates in the future.
