Rhaims' mind swirled with thoughts of all of the likely places that Felix could be instead of still at the library. Despite the fact that he didn't know the other boy all that well, Rhaim still tried since he was sort of in charge of the kid. However that fact was probably even less clear to the other guy as it was to the Nara considering they were the same rank and all. With his mind still swirling with thoughts of how badly he would be punished later on if something happened to the new shinobi, Rhaim caught sight of the work right in front of him. He almost slammed his face against the table himself as he realized that he hadn't made any progress on his work. If nothing else he could use the absence of Felix as something like a motivator.

Rhaim just couldn't shake the anxiety of not having accountability of the only person he was supposed to long enough to copy down the next portion of scroll. Even though that wasn't in any way going to stop him from finishing his work before leaving, it would greatly delay him telling his superiors. Well if it became nightfall before he was able to leave the library that was. The teen shook his head and mentally reassured himself that nothing ill had befallen the other boy and that he was just overreacting. After all, Felix had managed himself well enough against the feral dogs and there was nothing that dangerous in the village itself. Trying his best to ignore his current predicament the Nara sighed and placed his pen in place on the parchment once again.

Rhaim went right into one of his oldest follies without even realizing that he had done it. Instead of staying focused on copying the scroll or even thinking about Felix, he managed to read through the entire scroll once again. Fortunately it didn't take him long to realize this and he immediately stood up from the table. He didn't drop the pen or step away from the table, he simply stood up and threw his head back. He stretched his head from left to right before lowering his gaze back down to the scroll. To be getting to soundly beaten by a mere pen and parchment was a bit much even for him. If he couldn't focus enough to just copy a few scrolls then how could he ever hope to analyze a combat scenario or pick a lock. The Nara let out another sigh as he push his chair further from himself and leaned over onto the table to carry on with his work.

Rhaim barely managed to stay focused on the two scrolls long enough to copy down the next few lines or so. He was slowly beginning to calm down about the whole missing Felix issue that he was likely making up in his own head. His pen scribbled across the paper, making a combination of symbols and shortened words as he told himself over and over not to think about the other boy. The which of course only added to the problem, though fortunately not enough to delay his work any further. The tapping of pen against parchment seemed to play along to the tune of needing to get something accomplished that day. How that managed to be a tune in the young shinobis head was a curious feat that even brought him pause.

Rhaim was only able to keep on task for so long until he finally caved subconsciously and had to read over the entire original scroll yet again. While he wasn't exactly finding any new information by doing so, he was solidifying it in his mind. The more confidence that he had in his abilities to do it, the faster that he was likely to finish it. At least that was how the young boy justified it to himself when he finally realized what he was doing. In truth he was running out of time for the day and really didn't want to have to come back the next day. Looking down at his own scroll he noticed that he had also managed to make a large ink dot by pressing his pen to the material for an extended period of time. The which he was certain would confuse him later on. With a shake of the head he reset his mind and went back to his work in an effort to copy the contents of the scroll over.

Rhaim shifted his eyes quickly between the two scrolls in an effort to keep from getting too interesting in any one thing. The whole while his pen worked slow and methodically in an attempt to copy over the text of the original Magen Narakumi no Jutsu scroll. Of course the boy had to do so in his own fashion with varying symbols and codes. The which was more so for his own understanding later than to hide the true nature of the document. Though with any luck it would accomplish that as well. The young teen finished up a particularly in depth portion of the text before leaning back slightly from his work. As he looked it over to make sure that it all matched the original in content, he let his arms hang down at his sides. Confident that he had done a satisfactory job he set about to continue his task.

Rhaim should have known better than to get too cocky with his ability to ignore the original text. Especially since that wasn't an ability that he possessed but rather a fluke that chose to manifest every so often. As he should have expected the young Genin found himself reading over the entire scroll without copying down any of the words. When he finally did look down at his own scroll he let out a low sigh from his nostrils. The Nara nodded his head and closed his eyes at the fact that he had let himself get so carried away yet again. He was running out of daylight hours and he knew that that was the case. Still wanting to finish the task before the end of the day the boy set pen to paper again and traced his eyes along the genjutsu scroll.

Rhaim traced over the original genjutsu scroll slowly with his eyes while his pen worked vigorously to copy down the content onto his own scroll. He had no thoughts of happiness at the fact that he had managed to stay on track but rather just kept moving along with it. The semi-words and symbols seemed to align themselves on his scroll in a relatively straight way despite his attention being mostly on the text being copied. The gentle tapping of the writing device was at a much faster pace than the movement of his eyes since it took longer to actually write the words than to read them. Especially given the nature of how he had little to no system of what to use to represent which words.

Rhaim had slowly found himself drifting away from copying down the contents of the scroll down back towards simply reading the original. The boy actually managed to make his way through the Magen Narakumi no Jutsu scroll twice before realizing what he had done. He couldn't help but stare for several seconds at his own scroll and its lack of progress before letting out a long sigh from his nostrils. The teen stretched his neck to either side with eyes closed and then threw his arms back behind him. His pen was still held in his right hand as he leaned backwards. With a good stretch out of the way the Nara leaned forward over the two scrolls again and resumed his task. His eyes darted from original genjutsu scroll to the one that he was writing all of the text onto.

Rhaim didn't last long until he was right back into the routine of reading instead of copying. Despite being so close to being done with the assignment, he couldn't seem to pinpoint his focus enough to stay on task. The boy sighed slow and long out from his nose as he stared down at his incomplete work. He could feel the clock on the wall above him still moving forward through the day. It seemed more and more apparent to the teen that he very realistically may not finish the project that day. The which was in no way an appealing thought to him, since he had already devoted more to it than he should have. It really couldn't be helped though since he did have to look out for the new kid, Felix. The which he still didn't know the whereabouts of as he tried to press on with the scroll copying.

Rhaim was barely able to keep his mind and pen on track long enough to finish scribbling down the last of the notes on the genjutsu. The only portion that remained was the disclaimer about making sure that one didn't train alone when learning the technique. Despite the fact that the Nara wanted to roll his eyes at the statement that seemed somewhat obvious, it stirred something inside of him. If it had to say that one shouldn't train on it alone then it was possible for someone to do just that. The boy squinted his eyes down at the words as he held the pen firmly in his grasp. Given how many times he had read the thing he was surprised that he had never caught on to that line. Finally he let a faint grin creep onto his face very briefly before hurriedly moving to finish his work.

Rhaim had been in too much of a rush to finish up his task and managed to stab his pen into the table. The boys eyes went wide as he realized what he had done and the dull thud echoed through the room. He slowly craned his head around himself to see if anyone else had noticed and were on their way to reprimand him. To his surprise there wasn't a sign of anyone to include the normal guard on the doorway. After letting out a deep sigh of relief he turned back to the scrolls before him. He gave no thought as to why the sentry would have let his post or why no one seemed to be bothered by his abrupt noise. At any rate he simply wanted to hurry up and get on with the task so that he could get out of the place. While the library was one of his most frequented areas, it wasn't exactly fun.

Rhaim finally managed to scribble down the last few words and images of the scroll to his own. With the task completed the teen wasted no time in putting the original Magen Narakumi text back onto the shelf where it belonged. He still needed to report back over to the platoon about the Genin that he had managed to lose in less than twenty four hours, inside of the village library. By the time he was headed out all of the normal guards were in place and the man at the counter had swapped out with a young girl just older than himself. The Nara gave a nod to the female shinobi as he made his way back towards the barracks. His backpack with newly copied genjutsu scroll tucked inside, rested on his back.

Something about the library put Shiro into a good mood which is why he chose to read his book there. Hagakure (Hidden leaves) was the first of the three books that his mother had given him as a present. Written by Tsunetomo Yamamoto it contained various bits of wisdom on topics from daily shinobi life to tea ceremonies. Inside the front cover was a message written by his mother: To my little Shiro, this book will be both easy and hard to understand. As you grow, more of this book will open its wisdom to you but it is up to you to understand and accept that wisdom. I know that you can do it and that in wisdom you will find strength stronger than any fist and sharper than any blade. With the message from his mother in mind Shiro flipped through the book until he reached the first section.

The word gen means illusion. In the land of India, a man who uses conjury is called genjutsushi "a master of illusion technique". Everything in this world is but a marionette show. Thus we use the word gen. Shiro looked blankly at the page before him. He was familiar with the word gen as it was part of the shinobi school of Genjutsu but what was this land of India? Also what did it mean by saying that the entire world is a marionette show? Clearly this was one of the harder pieces of wisdom contained within the book. I guess that this piece is a little beyond me right now but like mom wrote, I won't understand everything at first. Defeated by the first piece of wisdom Shiro was forced to continue looking for something that he could understand within the book.
