(( Oh . . . Nevermind. I'm not gonna start that up. Don't bother. . . redface ))
Chase tugged his hand out of reach automatically, then a few seconds after the neko had spoken, realised his action. He looked at his hand, moving his fingers around before nodding and silently following Ari out of the yard. It was all foreign and noisy, but Chase found it fascinating. Someone would accidentally bump into him hard, and he would scare the crap out of them when he hissed and glared. It was pretty funny! He caught up to Ari's side with a slightly mortified expression. "Um, you know where to go?" He said in a low voice. "I. . . don't know where we are." He kept pace with Ari, not too sure what to expect, although everytime he saw grass or an open space his face would brighten up and he would smile. Much different from when he was trapped inside.

(( But---Er, okay? I wanna know... ;.; Oh well)) Ari looked over at the other and grinned. Well, he seemed to be having fun walking around. The grin turned into a smile and a small chuckle whenever someone would run into the human boy. That always made Ari laugh. He had no problem with people running into him after being a slave all his life, so to see a reaction such as that, it was amusing. The neko turned to Chase when he heard him speak. Of course he knew where he was going! He lived in the city much longer than the human, he was sure. But, he would probably have to confirm that. He nodded and pointed ahead. "Mmm, yup. Ahead," he said and looked back where he was going, weaving in and out of peoples' ways, minding his own business. If he was not careful, then he would probably have left Chase behind. He looked back and smiled. "Ahead is no city. See?" he asked and pointed. The amount of houses was going down, more like the sub-urbs. It was getting quieter and quieter. There were children playing in their backyards, making sounds, people getting in their cars to head to work or coming home from some place. These were the areas Ari had gotten used to, where most of his masters had homes. Hopefully none would recognize him.

Chase was startig to get a hang of being around a lot of people. It wasn't that scary. It was actually quite fun! He wondered if he'd ever get his claws back. . . Even if he didn't, he'd find a dagger somewhere. That would be just as good if he ever got around to torturing some pathetic human kid. Maybe it would scream. . . ! Chase snickered, then stood up properly, not at all mindful now of his cuts and bruises. He looking in the direction that Ari pointed and laughed in a rather cruel way. No city! No buildings! "Free! Ha! No pets. No cages! Lovely!"
The boy could now definitely be labelled deranged. Too the humans around him that was. They all stopped and stared, mostly at the red tattoo-like markings, at the grey hair framing the manical expression and at Ari's cat ears and tail. Slowly they caught on that the two weren't supposed to be wandering around. Slowly they began to move a side from them a bit . And even more slowly, there was a voice among many that held recognition. . . "Hey, I know that cat. . . "

Ari's ears twitched slightly. Just as he feared, people around them knew who he was. This must have been exciting to Chase, but it was horribly frightening to the neko. He knew all too well what would come of standing and waiting for too long. The neko grabbed Chase's wrist and tugged slightly. "Know Ari. People know Ari. Must go!" he said and started walking at a brisk place, ignoring the strange laughter the other was making. All that mattered was getting out of the city. Hopefully the way they were going was the right way. He did not want to head the wrong way and then possibly get attacked by Chase or something else. Even worse, be caught again! That would be just another check on his record of escapes. A shiver ran up the neko's spine as he looked back at Chase and frowned. Ari's tail twitched impatiently. They were so close to getting out, but they were moving too slowly. He held his arms close to his body, crossing them and practically hugging himself. Any of the people would have thought he was cold, but it was a kind of defensive pose.

Chase's eyes narrowed and he scanned the moving crowd around them to see who was stopped and who had spoken. He didn't know; there were too many people. Then someone grabbed his wrist. The cheetah boy yelped, cutting his laughter short, and sharply jerked his hand away as he spun around. Oh. . . It was only Ari. His temper flared. The neko didn't have to go scaring him just because! He snarled slightly but agreeably walked along a bit behind Ari. The boy was still enthralled with the people's expression as they saw the collars and the weird slaves trotting down the street without a master. "Might call someone. They might." He slowed down behind the neko, a strange thought bubbling into the frint of his mind. Is he cold. . . ? The grey haired boy tilted his head to the side then huffed. No, that's not it. . . It's pretty warm. Chase straightened up but his expression was starting to show his small concern for Ari. Maybe he needed a hug? "You okay?" He asked gruffly, not to willing to let the neko know that he actually put trust him. The first time in a long while that he had put trust in anyone. "They smell afraid. Not going to atack us," He added helpfully.

Ari looked back at Chase, surprised by his words. Who would have thought the other would even show the faintest sign of...What was it? Compassion? Whatever. Who knew that he would ever show the neko the slightest bit of worry? Grinning, Ari nodded and said, "Ari okay. Ari just...Protecting self." He shut his eyes and continued walking forward. "Protective position learned from years of master abuse..." He looked back at Chase for a second before returning his attention to the sidewalk and then the horizon. Well, they were nearly out of the city. People were becoming fewer and fewer. Ari's tail began to swish playfully back and forth. He had never been so far out of the city before. So, that was what freedom felt like. He took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. The neko looked back at Chase and then spun on him, crouching slightly and giggling. "Freedom," he whispered loudly.

Chase grunted at the shocked look Ari gave him, then looked away. He didn't like all this 'Wow! You're actually nice' business. He just nodded, frowning, and followed the neko silently. The boy missed Ari's glance, but he wasn't really paying attention to where they were headed, rather the ground and the evening sun was much more interesting. There were buildings everywhere, all the same looking, and Chase didn't notice that the people were beginning to become less and less in number. He didn't notice everything though, when Ari jumped around and scared the heck out of him again. He hissed, his eye wide and narrowed, as he sunk into a defensive couching stance. He untesed a little while Ari giggled, realizing that the neko wasn't actually about to attack him. So highly strung! It was clear that the boy really didn't like all the attention that much, and he agreed to Ari's whisper with another grunt. His eyes darted around again, almost panicking in the way they carefully stared at things. "Yeah. . . This way?" He looked around then pointed at a bunch of structures that a group of small kids had just abandoned. One of the moving seats looked quite fragile and active compared to the other two beside it. "Hn, sleep here?"

Ari looked where the kids had scrambled away from, ignoring the defensive stance Chase had taken for no more than thirty seconds. The neko's tail twitched as he thought for a second and stood beside the other. It was his first time actually being free for longer than thirty minutes. The thought of being free was making him want to run around and play, but it seemed like Chase wanted to rest. Maybe that was the best thing to do. He nodded at the other and walked over to the structures. The neko had never seen anything like it before. Spending his life in the city where there was no room for anything like it kind of made his knowledge of the outside world...Well, suck. Ari sat on the ground and hummed softly. Okay, he was not cold earlier, but he was starting to get cold. He brought his knees to his chin and rested like that, shutting his eyes, continuing to hum.

Chase joined Ari as he walked over to the playset. He looked over the monkey bars with a mixed expression of bewilderment and confusion before climbing up to the top and over to the second story of the small rise 'building'. He looked down at Ari, thoroughly amused now, before turning upside down on the last monkey bar and reaching out for the plastic floor of the playset. He didn't touch it, but he showed Ari all his pretty white teeth in a smile. "Cold now?" The sun was beginning to set rapidly, and so the temperature would be dropping soon. Chase tried to reach for the bar he was hanging off of to flip himself the right way up, but when he did so, a sharp splintering pain shot through his side and he gasped. He let his arms hang above his head, his eyes wide and now scared. "Aw s**t. . . " He moaned, feeling a bit lightheaded from the blood slowly trickling to his head. "Okay. On three. . . " He counted to two out loud, then befor he even said three he forced himself up and over the bar so that he was lying on the row of bars on his stomach. Not doing that again! "Oh. . . "

Ari sat under the playset and peeked his head out from under the protection from the light of the dimming sun. The neko's tail twitched in curiosity, his ears forward. He tilted his head to the side slightly when he saw Chase on the monkey bars. The expression of curiosity and wonder changed to surprise and bewilderment. Chase was smiling! Ari had never dreamed he would have been able to see that! The neko jumped up, being careful not to hit his head, and ran over to the upside-down boy. He tilted his head to the side in amazment. He wanted to do that too! That was when he heard the other's comment. "Cold? Ari not cold," he lied and looked around the monkey bars. He jumped back when he saw that Chase seemed to be in pain. He wanted to help, but he did not know what to do. Ari looked around and frowned, glancing back at Chase. Now he was safe on top of the monkey bars? The neko walked under him and reached his hands up. Yeah, he was a tad bit too short for that. He jumped up and grabbed one of the free bars not touched by the other. "Chase okay? Not hurt?" he asked as he looked up at Chase from his hanging position holding on to a bar tightly. He meowed up at the other and giggled.

His hand on his side and his eyes forcing on the swaying Ari a ways off out of his reach, Chase struggled not to show his grimace. "Yeah. Fine." Chase offered a rough meow-like growl back, his eyes closing. It was cold, but his side was hurting too much for him to move into the playset right then. He sighed, then yawned and a small shudder ran through his body. The neko didn't look sleepy. On the contrary, he looked and sounded rather jumpy and hyper. "You oughta sleep ya know. . ." Chase didn't know how to tell Ari that he was lost. that he had no idea how to get to the place that he had called his home for five years. He didn't know how to spoil the neko's fun or hopes. The boy grumbled something inaudible before uncomfortably switching on the bars.

Ari made a face and stuck his tongue out at Chase, giggling softly. "Ari don't need sleep. Chase, yes," he said and tilted his head to the side. He was not tired, but he knew for a fact that the human boy must have been tired and in pain. Ari's tail twitched as he looked at Chase. "Come get sleep. Sleep good for hurt body," he said, jumping up and down. "And cold. Cold outside, but Ari not cold. Chase cold?" he asked, tilting his head to the side. "Curl up and sleep, yes?" The neko smiled sweetly and rocked back and forth on his feet, from the balls of his feet to his heels.

Yes, Chase was cold, but he wasn't about to go telling the world that he was in pain. He nodded at Ari's words, not even looking at him since his eyelids were closed over his eyes. He stayed as still as he could, shivering slightly every few seconds until he slowly opened his eyes and sighed. "Fine," He sighed begrudgingly then shifted and winced. The pain in his side increased as he through his legs over the side and jumped down. He landed then immediately fell to the side, hissing and curling his hand protectively around his side. He groaned, fighting off the urge to dug his nails into his side then roll around. Instead he opened his hazed green eyes and looked blankly at the ground in front of him. He breathed in and out slowly then shuddered and closed his eyes again. "It hurts," He confided softly. "Like when they was kill. 'Cept not inside. . ."' No, inside Chase was simply a messed up maniacal idiot who probably like to hurt Ari a bit for fun. But on the outside, his side really did hurt. He just wanted to sleep. . . Maybe it would just be a dream and he would wake up soon.

((Why doesn't he jurt hurt Ari?)) The neko watched the other, stopping himself from jumping up and helping him out. He was sure Chase would hit him or something. Ari yawned and laid on his back, looking at the bottom of the large toy structure the children played on. Maybe, when he woke up, he would play. He felt like he could just play forever. He was free from the hands of a master. Though, he felt alone. The neko turned on to his side and curled up, wrapping his tail around himself. Chase had said he was going to show him the fields or whatever, right? Somewhere inside, that did not seem like something he would do. The human did not seem like that kind of nice person. Oh well. But...There was something that bothered Ari. If they got out of the city, where was he to go? He knew nothing about the wilderness and how to survive, having been born and raised in captivity and being bounced between owners. So, he would have to stay with Chase for a little while, right? But...What if he was never able to learn properly? Anxiety and nervous stress wrecked the neko's mind. Oh, the stress of living on one's own.

(( True that. I think I'm making Chase out to be melow and too calm. . . I'll put more thought into it. ^-^ ))
Chase finally got to sleep, shivering and curling up on himself to try to keep warm. He was never one to have a lasting body heat at night. The cemet got cold rather quickly, leaving the boy to fend for himself, not like he would have it any differently. His chest was barely rising and falling, and his expression was as if he was being poked with a stick in his back. The human boy was not to sure what he was going to do when he woke up, but he wasn't concerned about that right then. "Driss. . . mable. . . " He murmured inconcertably as he shifted. Dawn was slinking up on them fast. Both had better be perpared for the next day, because it wasn't going to be in the least fun. At all.
