Iri had immediately dropped her fans and backed away from the table upon seeing Sage bring a lighter to the cloud of spicey salad breath. She knew what that kind of situation meant. Anyone who had seen a man light a fatulus with a lighter would be just as cautious. And Irianna finds herself proven right when the breath catches fire. "Damn, Sage, what all did you put in that thing?"

She looks back at Seph to answer his question. "I haven't been teaching myself long, so I don't have much to show you. One technique I came up with is pretty violent, and I use up most of my chakra and pass out when I use it. In other words, I don't feel like giving you a demo of that. I will tell you that I can levitate using the wind, help myself to fly, and also manipulate the speed, force, and direction of wind currents." She pauses a moment, glancing down at her fans. "There is something I came up with today. Would you like me to try it out for you?"

This was interesting. "Last time?" He frowned some and leaned back. "When developing a new technique with undeveloped chakra, one should always be under the supervision of a Nin that can handle the situation, should things take a turn for the worst." His gaze leveled on Sage, then looked back at Iri, as if talking to both of them. "What happened during and after the technique?"

Using Seph's sub-conscience was turning out more useful that it had imagined.

Iri was in the middle of picking up her fans when Sage made that comment. She straightens her posture, fans in hand, and flashes a sheepish grin. "Yes, well, you do have a very good point, Sage. Thanks for reminding me of that. Still have a pretty nasty bruise..."

With an apologetic smile, Irianna stands from the table. "Sage is telling the truth. I got pretty beat up the last time I practiced a technique on the same day I came up with it. Flattened a whole meadow and managed to flatten myself against a tree. Didn't have anyone around to watch in case I did something wrong, either. Like I said, I'm new. I have talent, but I make some mistakes rookie nin wouldn't dream of making simply because I've never been instructed in the basics of chakra use. I discovered my chakra on accident myself." A thought crosses her mind and she picks up her book. "Speaking of my little tricks, I really do need to set myself to working the bugs out of my newest one. Not through experimentation, mind you. I avoid nasty surprises by carefully thinking each step through before putting it into action." She gives Seph a respectful bow and bright smile. "It was a pleasure meeting you. I hope we get a chance to chat again soon. Maybe I'll have something worth while to show you then."

Irianna looks at Sage and gives him a friendly parting wink. "See you later. Maybe I can try my new idea out again your golem when I get it ready."

And Irianna leaves the kitchen to head to her room.

Seph nodded to Iri, then looked back to Sage. "Show anything off? I don't get you."

"I didn't plan to. I felt bad, being one of those Sensei that hadn't been around as often as he should. I was offering help, not a showcase of talents." He leaned back, "Describe her technique. She said she flattened a meadow. Were you there to witness?"

Seph blinked. That hadn't been the logic he was following. "I just said, it was not a showcase of techniques." Seph paused, pondering whether a mug of tea would be satisfying. Best not. Something in Seph's sub-conscience said 'Tea = Nyl.'

"The chances that she and I would ever spar--let alone fight--are slim to none. As a resident here, she will undoubtably be witness to many of my techniques, be it during combat or daily life."

He paused for a few seconds, then added, "She is an Unknown unknown. We know not her motives, nor her abilities."

Seph rose his eyebrow again. "Again, our definitions are different. By 'unknown unknown,' I simply meant we don't know her prowess or whether or not she is friendly. For instance: Any of the Sensei here would be considered 'Powerful Allies.' Should someone come in and demolish our home with a flick of the wrist, that person would be considered a 'Powerful Enemy.'"

Seph pulled a foot up onto the chair he was sitting in, hugging his knee to his chest. "She is an 'unknown unknown' because we don't know if she's powerful or not, and we don't know if she's here to harm us or not."

Seph smiled softly, his eyes hidden to Sage by the reflection of light in his glasses. There was a wave of emotion that hit him, nearly driving the Virus out of control. During this brief interlude of clarity, Seph said: "Feelings are easily reciprocated to appear as truth. For the well-trained and highly talented, it's easy to appear to be happy when in truth you're dying of grief."

Seph shook his head some, snapping out of it. The Virus cursed whatever was left of Sephiroth's conscience, along with his mental helper--what did he call it? Ah, yes, "The Protector." It did not live well to it's namesake. The Virus preferred calling it "The Meek."

"Avoid something? There are many things I try to avoid, each without a solution. Only suffering for-.. Only suffering."

He caught himself saying 'The Host.' To blurt that out could prove suspicious, and suspicion was not something The Virus wished to attract. Not if it planned on taking more Hosts..
