Alright, I've heard so much bitching all over the world about this snake belt, and the shark, and summons, and pets, it's getting on my last .. damn.. nerve.
So Vintrict, other judges that may be scratching their balls this time of the morning / afternoon, let's clarify this, so everyone stops their QQ'ing and we may continue to harass others about video games. Because this appears to be what sparked the recent s**t-storm debates. Sound kosher to you? -----------------
First. The rule itself.Tournament Rule IV No outside intervention ( friends, familiars, summons, or otherwise) will be permitted. Should a tournament participant interfere in a match, he or she will be disqualified from the tournament. Should a spectator interfere, he or she will be banned from further attending the event. Should a participant induce interference within his or her match, he or she will be disqualified. Spectator posts by non-fighters and fighters currently not in a fight, may that be from already finishing their fight or being eliminated from the tournament, is allowed, however. Now, in my character, Omi Barsait's case, he gets a go ahead because his serpents aren't actually serpents. They're simply his equivalent of what other characters may have in "chi" or something similar, taking the form of snakes with absolutely no independent actions. In that regard, they're like extra limbs. Because they are approved, and he takes them into the ring obviously, as well as the fact they lack sentience entirely, they are 100% valid.
In Krausse's fight, his opponent tried making a bull shark get really pissed off and go whoop Krausse's a**. Which is awesome. But this is an interesting point: technically, were the shark -there originally- (according to Vin, they were not), would that not be part of the scenery being used to his advantage? I mean clearly, controlling the shark and going "I'M AQUA MAN, ******** THAT b***h UP" doesn't flow, but were he to do something more ingenious to give the shark incentive to ******** Krausse up then push him into the water, and the shark was originally present, I'd be tempted to say that shouldn't be against the rule.
Now, this snake belt incident, while I apologize to Elli that she was unwittingly made the scapegoat for this argument earlier, brings up an interesting point as well. It can only attack when her character attacks, so I can almost see it as - well, you ever played those Galaga style games where you get a modifier and it fires double shots and triple shots of your major weapon? That.
But, even though it's a piece of equipment, the fact it doesn't fit the criteria for say, a minor "clone" is interesting. Not even somewhat faulting the character, but that is curious, given even if it's acceptable for this character, minor variations of this premise on other characters could easily become the equivalent of familiars.
However, I've heard disturbing talk of parrots, and even a German Shepperd Vintrict, from two different people. And you gave very, very unusual answers I was really not expecting.
So if you could be like "BADOW" with a very specific ruling on this so we can all be friends and skip like faggots under a rainbow again, that would be super. Because it really does seem like the boundaries of this rule are being blurred and sharpened at different points.
I feel this is necessary so:
No more raging. (Less) No more attempts to wring in summons so people have to be nice and go "hey buddy, that'll DQ you maen." Hopefully, less hostility and debates on this matter, 'cos I've seen it all over the place for a week now.
While we discuss this might I add, someone should watch this video as well as the tournament stream, to better give an idea of what I am discussing.

Imperator had clearly stated, before his post edit, that he had brought the shark and other unnamed animals with him to the tournament and they had not previously been there.

I know that now, but Vintrict saying "nah, they weren't there before hand, and neither were any sharks" was more the smoking gun than anything.

I SEE.
Although, I'd argue your fire snakes are like Alucard's shadow dog things in the Hellsing anime. While they may LOOK like an animal, they had no independent thought that would allow them to be a familiar (like a dire wolf or something), so they can't do anything without Omi telling them to, like a sword, a knife, a fist, or George W. Bush.

Man, I'm definitely submitting a character who controls George W. Bush clones next year. He'd need to be accepted.

Introducing the parrot argument!
I asked Vin this last night and he pretty much gave me his ruling on it already, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to let other people have a chance to chime in.
So let's say my character is Pirate Guy #3. On my character's shoulder he has a parrot that just stays there and may throw the occasional wise crack, because parrots are great comedy relief. Besides that though, the parrot can't do much else on its own. Now, when Pirate Guy #3 attacks with his Pirate Sword, the parrot can mirror his attack. So, if he tries to slash at their left arm the parrot might peck at their right. The parrot can not attack on its own, it is limited to this mirroring thing with one exception.
The parrot has access to two different skills.
Skill one is "Perch". Pretty much, when the parrot mirrors an attack and manages to land on an opponent, by yelling "ARRRR!" Pirate Guy #3 can command the parrot to activate this ability. Pretty much, just digs its parrot claw thingies into whatever it landed on.
Skill two is activated when Pirate Guy #3 uses "Potent Lunge". Pretty much, it's just a powerful stab. So the Parrot's mirroring ability is "Precise Peck", which is virtually the same thing.
Now, considering the limitation that the parrot can only attack in a way that mirrors how Pirate Guy #3 attacks, does it break the friend / familiar/ summon rule or would it be perfectly acceptable?
If you have problems with the parrot living, keep the same skills and limitations but make it a mechanical bird or a plushie that comes to life via ancient pirate magic.

I've had a pretty shitty day today. For reasons unrelated to Gaia. And I don't know if you guys know what the weather is like here in NJ, but it is hot as a b***h in heat outside.
I'm saying this here to all the judges and all the participants, and I expect Vintrict to back me up 100% on this.
In the interest of no longer being accused of having an unfair advantage, I am voluntarily dropping my spiked chain weapon from my profile for the duration of this tournament.
I will not use it.
Regardless of my own and other peoples opinions of it, I am just really sick and tired of the bullshit and the catty comments. I hope that by removing it, I remove opportunity for people to make those sort of hurtful remarks.
Thanks for your time.

If you're choosing to not use an approved item, then suit yourself.
Kinda dumb if you ask me, but whatever.
