Sage looks over to Iri, " well then, your turn to start the bidding. how much are you going to bet?"
Just keep from passing out, and you might be able to pull this off...the hand isn't perfect, but that's where the power of bluff comes into play. like a bout of fencing, I must push and pull my opponents into the perfect position, then strike. wait...where did that come from?
After speaking, a few moments pass, then Sage blinks a bit, and shakes his head.

A genuinely perplexed expression overcomes Irianna's countenance. "Eh? How much am I going to bet? Umm..."
One slender hand reaches into a pocket concealed within the folds of her dress's skirt. She puts the GNA equivalent of five dollars on the table. "Will that do?"

Sage stared at the currency for a few moments, then said, "sure..I suppose. After all, it's money, no?"

Irianna shrugs and sits back into the cushions of the couch. Memories of tossing cards at random travelers tease the woman in the back of her mind. For one moment, she thinks very seriously about taking the cards and hiding somewhere to surprise a few strangers. She supresses the mischievous tendency with a playful grin. That kind of pasttime can wait for a more boring day.
"So, what next?"

The cat stared at the money, blinking. At cat with money? Yuki never carried money, nor did she have any. With a yawn, the cats hand dropped face down, and it lept back up onto Fuji's head. "Fold..."

"Mmm... I'm fine." The cat said, staring down at Sage's cards. Yup, the cat would have lost, that's for sure.

Violety eyes blink and Irianna mutters aloud, "Do I show you my cards now? Honestly, I have no idea what all the little characters mean, and I'm starting to get curious."
Actually, her wings are starting to twitch with impatience. A little voice in the back of Irianna's head is telling her to toss the cards and see how many stick in the wall or a couch cushion. Her better behaved side is trying very hard to resist the urge.

Sage blinks a bit, " usually you try to bluff the other person into betting as much as you can get them to, and if you have a good hand, you then lay it down and win, with a bad hand, you try to bluff your opponent into forfeiting thier current bet....since it's to me."
Sets his cards face down and digs his left hand through his pocket for a bit, eventually pulling out a copper coin, " now, I dont have that fancy currency that you do, but this could get a loaf of bread or a stein of ale back where I'm from."

Irianna shrugs again and takes two more dollars out of her pocket. She lays the money down and says, "I'm not sure if I'm doing this right, but I'll raise my bet."

Sage nods a bit, and pulls out another copper coin, " I'll meet your bet, and raise you by another half copper."
As he speaks, his lips move, but his teeth stay locked in thier grimace of pain.

One eyebrow quirks. "Heh, you're not givin' up are ya?" A grin playing across her lips, Irianna lays down ten dollars. She looks over her cards again at Sage and mutters, "Your arm giving you trouble? I can take your mind off of that pain."

was that a flirt? I think it was...a distraction from the game...or a serious proposition? It would be safer to assume that it's a distraction...in which case, perhaps I should return the favor.
Sage looked over to Iri, drawing out two more copper coins and setting them down. "I meet your bet and raise you two more copper. However, if you want to concede now, I'm sure we could find something more interesting to do." After speaking, he dials up his numbing enough to break his grimace for a few moments. Using that time, he gives Iri a grin, followed by an attempt at a seductive wink.

Color tinges Irianna's cheeks. Though she hadn't deliberately dropped some sort of hint, she is sharp enough to realize when someone else is. Problem is, despite her years of travel, Irianna can become suddenly shy around men. Some part of her personality that she never grew out of. Had she not been shy, Irianna probably would have encouraged advances from Sage. Instead, she just sticks to the truth.
Stammering a little, Irianna says to Sage, "Actually, I was going to ask if you wanted to borrow my aloe vera again."
