Hmm Mirabelli is on the DL (wrist injury). Now a buddy of mine keeps saying that he hopes when Wakefield pitches that Shawn Wooten knows how to catch a knuckler.
In my opinion: Remember, Tek caught Wakefield before Mirabelli got here, don't base your judgement on one playoff outing where Tek had to catch him for the first time in years.
I'm puzzled by this. Wooten absolutely sucks, I'd rather Hasleman unretire and get behind the plate. This is awful. And the fact that they didn't bother calling up Shoppach really has me scratching my head. The kid has been playing well all year, so why not bring him up and see what he's got?
I agree, I have faith in Tek to be able to handle Wakes better than any minor leaguer could. I am sure that of any of the games that Wooten could make it into it's DEFINITELY not going to be when Wake's is pitching. If a seasoned major leaguer like Tek can even have trouble catching the knuckler, it'd be doubly tough for a newbie.
Then again I agree with Dean and wondering why the hell Wooten was the one called up in the first place.
Next topic: Are the Red Sox AWAKE?!
Is anyone concerned about our inability to drive runners in, or even to move more than one base at a time?
It seems like we are plagued with the same malaise that gripped this team the first half of last year. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we're about to get an infusion of speed or energy any time soon. No Roberts, no Cabrera, no Minky.
We have zero speed on the basepaths and no one to pinch hit or run. Isn;t it about time we at least tried a hit and run????
Boring, boring, boring.........
