*wants to rant about my book adventure but might be too tired to finish*
So for I went to the book store to see what I could find about NC's history so I can get into better details and to look for a book for Armelle.
Other than the Sherman- "SHHH!" *glares for being interupted before continuing* book that I mentioned earlier, I found a few more that were interesting like:
Talking Turkey: And Other Stories of North Carolina's Oddly Named Places
Most of the places I've heard of most of my life but never really thought much about them. And yes apparently there really is a place in NC called Turkey as I have discovered today.
One paragraph I read, talked about a place called No Creek. The stories goes about this man that just recently bought land, complained that he couldn't find a Creek. "All this land and no creek!" he keot saying to his his wife as they went around to find a creek. Finally they heard running water. The next day the wife told a friend about the couple's day of fishing at No Creek as a joke. Since then the name stuck.
There was even a book called The Highland Scots of North Carolina and I found another book that showed old postcards of my home town. They were old black and white photos of the 1800's and 1900's. Found that there is a church that still stands today that dates back to 1750's-ish. Also from 1930-till WWII we used to hold an annual Tobbaco Festival and even had a handmade World's largest Corncobb Pipe... Now I see why everyone pictures us with a tobbaco leaf >.<;
