Me: Still hotter than a Groudon's cave. Good, we should be alone.

*Out from a nearby cave leading inside Mt. Moon, a swarm of Zubat fly out along with a couple native (Paras, Clefairy, Geodude) Pokémon*
Me: Bah... fight three Zubat and a native Pokémon, catch one of them!

*watches Brian complete his battle*
Now it's my turn!
I run towards the Clefairy.
Clefairy: Clefairy, Clefairy.
A Zubat gets in the way of the Clefairy, as if protecting it.
Me: Darn you Zubat.
I send out Duskull.
Me: Duskull use Confusion!
Confusion flies towards the Zubat, which dodges.
Zubat: Zubat zu!
Zubat uses Confuse Ray, which heads towards Duskull.
Me: Duskull dodge! Use tackle!
Duskull zooms towards Zubat, and hits it, knocking it to the ground.
Zubat uses wing attack, which hits Duskull, carrying it with the wind.
Me: Argh! Duskull use Confusion again!
Confusion flies towards Zubat, which hits it this time, sending it tumbling through the air.
Zubat uses Tackle, zooming towards Duskull, but going right through it. Confused by the attack, it turns around and zooms back through Duskull.
Me: Duskull use Night Shade!
Night Shade hits Zubat, who falls to the ground.
Me: Yes. Take that Zubat!

The other two Zubat get in the way of the Clefairy.
Me: Not more of them! Go Torchic!
Torchic appears in a flash of red light.
Me: Duskull use Confusion! Torchic use Flamethrower!
Confusion misses one Zubat, but Flamethrower hits the other Zubat.
The Zubat both use Confusion, one of which hits Duskull, the other of which hits Torchic.
Me: Duskull use Confusion again! Torchic, use Peck!
Duskull uses Confusion again, which hits one Zubat. Torchic misses the other with Peck.
One Zubat uses Wing Attack on Duskull, and the other uses Bite on Torchic.
Wing Attack hits Duskull, which falls to the ground, limp. Bite misses Torchic.
Me: Grrrr. Go Carvanha! Use Crunch! Torchic use Ember!
Carvanha appears and uses Crunch on Zubat. Torchic spits fire at the other Zubat.
Crunch hits, and so does Ember. One Zubat faints, but the other stays in the air.
Zubat: Zubat!
Zubat uses Air Cutter on Torchic. Torchic tries to dodge, but is too slow. Air Cutter hits, and Torchic goes flying through the air.
Me: Carvanha use Take Down! Torchic use Quick Attack!
Torchic moves first and hits Zubat with blinding speed. Carvanha follows up with Take Down. Combined, they take Zubat out.
Me: Yes! Now I can get to the Clefairy! Torchic, return!
Torchic disappears in another flash of red light.

I run over to the Clefairy, and Carvanha follows me.
Clefairy: Clefairy! Clefairy!
Me: Carvanha use Crunch!
Clefairy dodges the attack, and uses Confusion.
Confusion hits Carvanha, doing a good amount of damage. I notice Carvanha wince at the attack.
Me: Carvanha use Water Pulse!
Water pours from Carvanha’s mouth, flowing towards Clefairy. The attack hits, and Clefairy bounces backwards.
Clefairy: Clefairy! Clefairy!
Clefairy uses Psychic, and Carvanha starts floating in the air.
Carvanha: Carvanha?
Me: Carvanha, use Water Pulse to stop Clefairy from concentrating!
Another jet of water flows towards Clefairy, hitting in mid-trance, and blocking its concentration.
Me: Carvanha use Crunch!
Carvanha lunges towards Clefairy, which can’t dodge in time, and the attack hits Clefairy, knocking it to the ground.
Me: Pokeball, go!
I throw a Pokeball.

Shake, shake, shake.
Shake, shake, shake.
Shake, shake, shake.
Ding!

Me: Yes, I caught Clefairy!

*hops up and down on one foot*
Owowowowowow that hurt!

What fossil?
*Looks down at shoe*
Oh. That fossil

*Takes off shoe*
Man, these were my best shoes too!
*looks at sock*
Yup, another imprint
*takes off sock and looks at bare foot*
And an imprint in my foot as well...

*I get on Aerodactyl*
Me: Pick him and the fossil up.
*Aerodactyl swoops and grabs Sports by the midrif in one clawed foot and the fossil in the other*
Me: Back to HQ.
*We fly to the Hoenn region*
