Helix said nothing, and snatched the bag back. "Go home, Lan. Go back to the house and wait for me. This isn't your problem."

Umi had ran after Lan when he'd taken off. It had started raining at some point, and it came down hard. She was soaked quickly, and her white dress clung to her legs as she ran. She came into sight of Lan and Helix just as Helix told Lan to go home.

Helix snarled at Lan. "It's so you don't have to see me like this!" he yelled angrily, and instantly regretted it. His face became upset, and he appologised for yelling at Lan.

Umi put a hand over her mouth in shock. Helix is...stealing?!

"I can't," Helix said, in tears. "I can't, Lan! You need this more than they do! You need to get better! And I can't help you get better without money!" He sobbed. "I...I can't be like you, Lan. I can't be honest with people. I can't trust anyone. I can't do anything! This is all I'm good at!" He fell to his knees.

Umi walked over to Helix, and held him to her chest. He sobbed loudly, beating the ground with his fist.

Helix tore himself out of Umi's hug, and ran down the road away from them. Umi yelled after him. "HELIX! COME BACK!" But the boy never stopped running.

Umi's arms dropped to her side, and she sighed. She looked at Lan, and hugged him. "Lan..." She held him, not sure of what to do next.

Umi picked up Lan in her arms and carried him back to the house. He wasn't heavy, and she carried him with little difficulty. One home, she carried him upstairs, and got him out of his wet clothes, and into the dry ones he had been sleeping in. She tucked him into bed, and slipped the teddy bear into his arms. Sighing, she peeled her wet dress off, and slipped into a comfy pair of pyjamas. She padded downstairs, and made a quick phone call.

"Hello?" Riza said groggliy as she answered her phone.

"Hello, Ma'am. I appologize for calling this late, but..." Umi paused, and told Riza about Helix. Riza listened quietly.

"I understand," she said. "We'll have someone look for him immediately. Don't worry." She smiled, and told Umi to go to bed. Then she hung up the phone, and dialed Headquarters.

Umi sighed, and went back upstairs and sat on Lan's bed, unable to sleep.

Umi screamed, but it was hidden by the thunderclap that followed the lightning flash. Umi was terrified, and trembled, throwing herself over Lan. "Please," she begged. "Do whatever you want to me, but don't hurt him! Please!"

Umi stared at Zachary, confused and terrified. She wasn't sure what to think. "I-I'm sorry...come again?" She had always liked Zachary, but this demon terrified her in ways she couldn't understand. "I-I have no objections to looking after Zachary, but why? I don't understand..."
