((I am thinking you will like very much, especialy with your own 'till death do we part' coming up and all those years to look forwards too xd ))
Normal was a nice little change... she wouldn't want to stay normal forever, Rae usually had the attention span of a 16 year old when she wasn't in 'crisis' mode xp

HonoRaven ((I am thinking you will like very much, especialy with your own 'till death do we part' coming up and all those years to look forwards too xd )) Normal was a nice little change... she wouldn't want to stay normal forever, Rae usually had the attention span of a 16 year old when she wasn't in 'crisis' mode xp John watched the movie quietly up to the part where the two main characters - a married couple clearly driven into a rut - focus on what appears to be a younger married couple making out in their resturant. "I dont get it..." He muttered quietly, watching Steve Carrels face drop as he wished it was him and Tina Fey doing the same thing. "...How could their lives get that way? So...boring."

"I think... it has to do with how easy it is to become used to something, or someone..." She absently munched at the fries, as she watched. "They got so caught up in paying the bills, and making sure that the kids were always stable and safe that they forgot to have some fun together! Fun is very important for us mortal beings!" whee
"I mean they wake up at the same time every day, they go through the same routine.. and then on their one night without the kids to worry about.. they even go to the same place for their special dinner! sweatdrop It is all a routine, and it requires very little thought and produces even less endorphins and mental stimuli! but luckily the movie gets quite amusing from here on." xd

"...It's quite sad, i feel..." He said quietly.
The movie wasn't going well for him. He could understand how people could get into these situations, even why they could...but surely they could not feel happy in stagnation.
He couldn't help but also feel a pang of sadness - as deplorable as it was, this had been what he'd missed with Amber. Normalicy. A boring life, full of boring situations and boring resultions. Waking up, getting the kids ready, going to work, coming home and putting the kids to bed before going to bed himself...
He made him feel a little sick inside that he found such safety so...abnormal. Was he really such a meathead that he needed to punch someone or something every day in order to remain sane - the degree of sanity up to debate...
When Tina Fey came in with the new dress on, he felt a little cheer well in him. "Good girl..." He whispered to her. Dont stay in this life - mix it up, even a little.

"Very sad.." Rae had to agree. Most of the time she thrived on being out of the ordinary.. but every once in a while normal seemed like something she longed for.. for as Tina and Steve would find, sometimes a little spice could really be far too much sweatdrop

John tried to watch it. He really did.
But...he couldn't.
With Seven Samurai, it was different. The movie was a classic, and reminded him a lot of his own nomadic ways, of the time when it was set - the villagers needing help, the wandering warriors, bandits at every turn or crest....that had been his life once upon a time, and although he could never remember those times again, it was nice to be reminded of a time when you could live like that and not be considered a bum, or a crazy man beating people up...
...With the couple in this movie, it was sad because they were stuck in a situation that they had never planned for, and the one time they had tried something different, something off the wall, it had blown up in their faces. Watching civilians be incompetent did not interest John, especially when their relationship seemed to hang in the balance. After meeting with Mark Wahlberg's character - who, John had to admit, kept himself in shape pretty consistantly - his focus began to drift. Tiny Fey's obvious attraction to him, despite Steve Carrel sitting next to her, made John uneasy - he never liked the thought of someone cheating on their spouse.
A little harmless flirting was okay, if kept to a minimum...but the way they really hammered it home made John look down to Raven, focusing on her instead of the movie, running his fingers through her hair and stroking her forehead with a cool steel finger, gentle so as not to hurt her.

Rae smiled and looked up at her friend, noting that he wasn't as amused as she was. "Want to watch something else?"

HonoRaven Rae smiled and looked up at her friend, noting that he wasn't as amused as she was. " Want to watch something else?" If he was completely honest, he wanted to check that book out...but he decided to stock it through for Raven. "Eh, maybe it'll get better in the third act..." He said down to her, smiling and patting her head reassuringly before resuming the movie.

Rae hoped he would enjoy it more as it went along, but mostly she was just relaxed and slightly drowsy, smiling as she rested her eyes and just listened to the movie and the big man's breathing never even noticing when she drifted off to sleep.

Upstairs, the door clicked open, and the dining room light was switched on before the door was closed again.
Light footsteps crossed the dining room into the kitchen where they stopped for a few minutes as Sam tossed a stack of mail on the kitchen counter, poured herself a bowl of cereal for a snack before putting away the new carton of milk in the fridge and heading to her room down the little hall beside the kitchen where Hono'o had originally stolen the towel she had given to John when he was dripping all over the floor.

John had been pleasently surprised by the end of the movie - aside from the cringe-worthy dance scene, which John couldn't help but look away from, he was happy by the way it had all wrapped up. The main characters did a really good job of seeming head-over-heels in love, and the quiet scene where they had breakfast made John smile.
He looked down to Raven to notice she was asleep. He shook his head and rolled his eyes, but the stroking of her hair didn't stop - typical woman, falling asleep completely at ease whilst he'd had to sit through that horrible middle part. She looked so serene whilst asleep though...he couldn't bear to wake her. After the end credits rolled, the TV went to the default setting, silence filling the room explosively, and he was trapped with her on him.
It was warm and silent. He felt full and content. For the first time in many years, he didn't need to shore up the cave entrance, light the fires to stave off the darkness, hunt and kill his food before darkness fell...he was at peace here. Slowly, his bearded face fell, his permafrost eyes slowly sliding down, the lids heavy as he listened to her steady, sleeping breath, soft and sweet like a warm summer breeze...
So when he heard the sounds upstairs, he almost jumped out of his skin, his head snapping up and his hand shifting to Raven's shoulder. "Rae! Were you expecting someone home?!" He hissed, the shock awake instantly putting him protective mode - someone had entered the house, and he had to defend it.

Rae didn't really wake up, but the part of her that was always ready for trouble had her rolling off the couch into a crouch onto the floor.. a knife in her hand as she blinked at John with sleepy eyes.
It took her brain a good minute to catch up, processing his words as well as noting the soft footsteps above before her free hand brushed her bangs out of her face and she slipped the knife into the hidden pocket on her belt where she had previously stashed a scalpel a few days ago... it didn't disappear, but unless she decided to roll down a hill she wasn't likely to stab herself with it!
The footsteps didn't head down to where they were... so she set her head back in his lap with a smile. "I wasn't expecting anyone.. but unless they are a really crappy bugler and haven't noticed that there is nothing of real value to anyone but a book-worm in that part of the house... it sounds like Sam.. makes me wonder if she knows where her brother is though."

His eyes were wide and his hands open as she fell to the floor on her hands like a cat, her knife out as she looked at him. He made a mental note never to wake her like that again, lest he got a knife in the gut - damn she was fast!
He relaxed when she put the knife away and crawled back onto the couch, resuming her position with her head in his lap. Putting his hand to her head, he stroked her hair gently, looking down to her, a little concerned. "Uh...shouldn't we go say hello, or something?" He asked tentatively.
The last thing he wanted was bad blood between Hono'o's children and himself...he had enough trouble worrying about his own children hating his guts, he didn't think he had it in him to have others hate him...

"You can if you want... Just remember that she isn't exactly the child she appears to be, and you might get an earful." xp She yawned and managed to fish the remote off the table again without having to get up, putting on a new action movie instead R.E.D. was fast becoming one of her all time favorite films... then again, she usually liked movies with Bruce Willis in them!
"We would know by now if she brought her brother with her.. his room is down here." Rae was never going to win a 'mother of the yer' award.. but then again she was lucky and neither of her children were really troublemakers or extremely needy individuals.

He sat back in the chair and kept stroking her hair, not really knowing what to say or do. Did He Go upstairs and see the girl who was now the new avatar for Munin...our stay down here with the old one, where there was warmth and comfort and apparently Bruce Willis...
He patted Rae's head gently, signifying that she should move. "I'm gonna go say hi...it's the polite thing to do, and like you said, she's not a little girl anymore..."
