I might actually stay away longer. To put it in the simplest way possible I realized something that scares the s**t out of me and before I go too far in depth about this thing I need to find out more information. Depending on what I find out depends on how often I'll poke my head into the guild.
Let's just say it's a wake up call from the roller coaster I like to call life.

Danielle Baptiste Abigail Van Alstine Abby is Top Cow. A newer character of mine. Chastity Marks is a Chaos comic char. I believe Top Cow may be the one that snatched her after Chaos tumbled but who knows. They never used her. *glomps!* I have no idea who has who! but I hope you RP. It would be awesome to have a magic user amongst us. I loved Abby in Witchbade. heart But she's closer to Dani's age! Lol, I am abby. I just forgot to post that lil tid bit above as her when I switched avi's. Thanks for the luck.

The early stuff was Garth Ennis, and I liked it quite a bit. It had a lot of humor, there was a certain flair to it, and Jackie wasn't such a candyass. It tapered off into total mediocrity after Benitez left the series and by the end I had given up the ghost. The constant recurrence of "but I always loved you, Jenny!" spiraled into an As the World Turns type fiasco. The first (of MANY) relaunches with Pitt artist Dale Keown was pretty good. It was more serious and atmospheric, which an interesting array of ghouls. This lasted a brief six issues, culminating with the addition of a new creative team. One of many revolving creative teams, each more hideously misplaced than the last. Once burned, twice shy, I dropped the book soon after. The latest mess I do not like either. Broken Trinity, the absurdist Artifacts, they're pulling further and further back into their high school stories.
And let's make no mistake, most of the stuff Silvestri (and the founders of Image in general) produced were stories they imagined in high school. For some, this turned out well (Spawn, which sucked but became uberfamous), for others not so much (who actually read Weapon Zero? Anyone?). The Darkness is another case of those "we'll throw every bad trope and see what sticks." Long lost twin sister? Evil grandma with teeny bopper evil twin henchmen? First girl wins? How many gay jokes can we pack into an issue? Magic super baby? These things all start to make even LESS sense when you've read the series in its entirety and realize how much contradiction is going on. The Darkness originally created the Angelus. I have no idea where that went. It seems you have to sort of forget all notions of continuity and whenever something happens, just go with it. It's very Doctor Who, except without the fun, humor, adventure or enjoyable characters.
It hurts the series that it was originally imagined at the tail end of the 90s, a time rife with Sexy Male Leads (oh the heady days of the comic book male pin up). It may have been Marc's first idea, but he ran with it too late, and it never got the style treatment Witchblade got (for good or ill, I'm inclined to think that while the art improved, the writing...). They won't let it die because either it's Marc's pet or it's too ingrained in the better sellers to remove completely. I still look and I'm just not impressed. I hold out hope, but they're not getting my $3 until they produce something of substance.
Mostly I just want them to bring back Tales of the Darkness so that I can make a pitch.

Interesting, never new that much about Top Cow/Darkness.
If they did do more Tales of the Darkness, what would be your pitch?

Lucifer Morningstar The Darkness originally created the Angelus. No WAY! Really? What? Please if you know what issue that's in please let me know. I really want to learn more on this, since i'm rping Angelus. Wikipedia and comic vine got it all wrong! I'd love to edit their info with sources to back up what I say. ________ As for Jackie, I totally know what you mean. I LOVED Supergirl when she first arrived, then she started in her own series and it all went to hell, up until the New Krypton stuff. Then it got good. But You could always Rp Jackie the way you see fit, old school style. No one can say otherwise unless you bat-god-mod. LOL

It's a long-standing pun based on one of our old rps, known as "Hero High."

((I was hoping Dani could find the Witchblade at the school or a field trip or something. But if it dosen't get to that then its all good.))

Wikipedia and comic vine got it all wrong! I'd love to edit their info with sources to back up what I say. I don't know if I even have the comic anymore, it would have been in one of the special issues, possibly the 1/2 issue, there were also a strange little coven of lady demons introduced that we never ever heard from again. Wiki and ComicVine are currently accurate. They decided to drop the first idea and instead made The Darkness and Angelus two great big master powers, with the Witchblade as something like a weapon either one could use against the other, or which could act as it's own free-agent. Then they ignored that one as well and decided that the three characters were actually a trinity, which seems to be going the way of the others as they start trotting out more and more "artifacts." The Thirteenity encompass other ideas they tried that failed (The Rapture is the most famous one I can think of, that one was supposed to "CHANGE EVERYTHING!" but it also includes the freezy thing that went nowhere). Theoretically, tying them to their best selling/most famous characters will give them new life, because nothing saves a bad idea like another bad idea. With any luck it'll all be forgotten in a year (like Jackie's slutty Catholic schoolgirl twin sister). Timespace just sort of shifts around in the Top Cow universe. It's like Star Trek. With more T&A than Kirk could shake his stick at.

Zachary T Paleozogt Interesting, never new that much about Top Cow/Darkness. If they did do more Tales of the Darkness, what would be your pitch? The Darkness in future Las Vegas/Shinju-ku, in hiding where the night is always lit up by neon. The story borrows heavily from Zoku and Japanese ideas of androgyny.

Personally I do like learning about these new Artifacts... But only if they put them to good use afterward... if they just forget about them then like you said.. Whats the point?
