Lt. Brookman Guard has a certain tradition with naming tanks, Marines not so much. Chimera chassis and support vehicles are mostly named after mythical creatures, most Leman Russ variants have names that imply death dealing and the super-heavies are mostly named after melee weapons. Marines on the other hand.. Rhino, Predator, Land Raider, Vindicator. so with marines it's a kinda brutish/death/'deadly' thing?

Maybe, but for the most part a cohesive naming method is lacking with the Marines.

so... should we all make suggestions then make a poll about it? or just stay like this with the occasional random idea?

It might be best to first decide on the base design and what the puppy does. With a purpose present you can move on to assigning it a name.

Well marines have a not so supernatural way of naming things...
Rhino- transport marines right up the center and into enemies. Predator- Tank, smooth kills with heavy weapons. Land raider- Raider, transports soldiers into heaviest of fighting to claim it. Heavy punch. Vindicator- Vindiction, drive the heretic/alien from there hole with heavy cannon fire.

Predator Revengeancer? Or, more seriously, the Predator Eviscerator.
To be honest, this tank goes outside of the blood of the Predator so much that I'm all for coming up with an entirely different name for this tank.
Anyway, here comes the basic thoughts. This tank would have a role somewhere between a Predator and a Land Raider in terms of annihilating enemy armor. It would still be a "flexible" platform, able to change the weapons outfitted onto it between battles by swapping turrets and sponson mounts.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Base cost of a Predator Annihilator: 60 pts. That comes with a singled Autocannon.
Here's the first stage of upgrading. The primary weapon for our tank thus far (as I'm thinking it) is a Twin Linked Autocannon. That then takes the base cost of our bird up to 70 pts. (+10 for Twin Linking.)
Now, here's my next line of thinking. This is meant to be a much heavier breed of tank, so I'm thinking that, at the very least, the Front armor would be increased. So I'm thinking that +20 pts is more than enough to make it FA 14. That brings us back to the original.
Tank - 90 pts BS4 AV 14-11-10 TL Autocannon
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, this heavy bird needs a set of proper claws. A twin linked Autocannon is good enough for anti-infantry, but it needs more kick for sidearms than Heavy Bolters. So now we come to the logical addition: Sponson mounted Autocannons. THOSE would add up to an anti-infantry ogre.
So, our vehicle profile is starting to look a little more developed, especially after the inclusion of the other "basic" tank upgrades.
Tank - 90 pts BS4 AV 14-11-10 Equipment: TL Autocannon, Smoke Launcher, Searchlight
Sponson Upgrades: Autocannon Sponsons +40 pts
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright! Now that our little deviant has some basic weaponry, let's play around a little with the available upgrades and see what we can tweak around. Let's assume that they want to REALLY hammer around some Anti-Infantry firepower. The Imperial Navy and Imperial Guard are making use of Punisher Cannons, so why not implement a weapon so clearly designed for death into a force that is meant to strike and strike hard? The points on this one will need adjusting, as I have little to base the individual cost on. Also, for the sake of "OMG SPAM" styled suppression fire, I'll include the ubiquitous Heavy Bolter Sponsons
Tank - 90 pts BS4 AV 14-11-10 Equipment: Turret TL Autocannon, Smoke Launcher, Searchlight
Turret Upgrades: Punisher Gatling Cannon +40 pts S5 AP- 24" Heavy 20
Sponson Upgrades: 2x Autocannon Sponsons +40 pts S7 AP4 48" Heavy 2
2x Heavy Bolter Sponsons +25 pts S5 AP4 Heavy 3 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright. Now we have sufficiently covered that facet of the tank, so let's move into a slightly more destructive side. That's right. Heavy firepower. Going back to the very first weapons that this tank was thought up around, we've got our good base friend in a Plasma Cannon. It has enough punch to deal with moderate weight tanks and all but for Invulnerable infantry.
Given that a vehicle mounted weapon would have a lot more power available to them than soldier carried units, the cannon would be able to spit out more death per turn. Also, the additional carrying weight and space would allow for Plasma Cannon sponsons to be added on as well. Thusly, our tank's profile grows even more.
Tank - 90 pts BS4 AV 14-11-10 Equipment: Turret TL Autocannon, Smoke Launcher, Searchlight
Turret Upgrades: Punisher Gatling Cannon +40pts S5 AP- 24" Heavy 20
(Tank name) Plasma Cannon +45pts S7 AP2 36" Heavy 2 3" Blast
Sponson Upgrades: 2x Autocannon Sponsons +40pts S7 AP4 48" Heavy 2
2x Heavy Bolter Sponsons +25pts S5 AP4 36" Heavy 3
2x Plasma Cannon Sponsons +50pts S7 AP2 36" Heavy 1 3" Blast
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our beast is becoming more and more deadly with every one of these little segments. Now, we've gone through anti-Infantry, anti-Heavy Infantry, and anti-Light Armor. The one thing that is left for our beast to build up to tackle is Heavy Armor. We're talking Monoliths, Land Raiders, Leman Russ units, Hammerheads, etc. This variant is going to absolutely pummel whatever it comes across. The standard anti-tank gun for the Space Marines is the Lascannon. Hell, it is present as an upgrade for just about every tank that they field. This tank, however, is meant to be a dedicated anti-Armor in this variant. A twin linked tank in this case just doesn't feel like it has enough of a "Melt it to slag" feel. In this case, I think either a rotating barrel or battery of Lascannons are needed. Along with that some Lascannon Sponsons. As of now, I think that the tank has a thoroughly destructive profile.
Tank - 90 pts BS4 AV 14-11-10 Equipment: Turret TL Autocannon, Smoke Launcher, Searchlight
Turret Upgrades: Punisher Gatling Cannon +40pts S5 AP- 24" Heavy 20
(Tank name) Plasma Cannon +45pts S7 AP2 36" Heavy 2 3" Blast
(Tank Name) Gatling Lascannon +50 S9 AP2 48" Heavy D3
Sponson Upgrades: 2x Autocannon Sponsons +40pts S7 AP4 48" Heavy 2
2x Heavy Bolter Sponsons +25pts S5 AP4 36" Heavy 3
2x Plasma Cannon Sponsons +50pts S7 AP2 36" Heavy 1 3" Blast
2x Lascannon Sponsons +60pts S9 AP2 48" Heavy 1
And that there was my development process.
