"Oh, I don't know. On and of, I suppose," Dari said with a nod, "Sure, the mall's good too." But then Cody seemed to have another idea entirely. Dari gave him a suspicious look.
"What're you planning?" he asked with a smile.

"A surprise," Cody said, smiling at him. Dari liked the little things, and the place he wanted to take him was full of them. Little things that only lasted two seasons, but were definitely worth seeking out. "You'll like it," he assured him. "So you'd like to go to the mall?"

"Is this what normal people do?" Dari asked with a chuckle, "Spend their first date talking about their next date?" He took a deep swig of his now only-warm coffee.
"I'd like to go anywhere."

"I'm not sure," Cody admitted, "I don't think I've ever dated a normal person. Not saying you aren't!" he added, with a smile. "But I think it's more getting to know each other?"
"I know this place in the mountains, it's a day trip. It's nice."

"Why don't we do that next time?" Dari asked, "I've never really been out to the mountains." Not when he wasn't on a mission. That was better than the mall or the lake.
"Getting to know each other, hm? Then tell me. What's something about yourself I couldn't possibly learn in a week."

"Alright," Cody agreed. They'd go to the mountains next time. "Well... Hm. I'm pretty open book, I don't know..." He always blanked when a question was asked about him. "Well. I'm an only child, and when I was a kid, I pretended--to several others, that I was my own twin brother. I'd go inside and change my shirt, go back outside and say I was busy doing something. I don't think anyone really believed it, though."

Dari laughed. "Nice. My brother and I look a lot alike, but not quite that much." Of course his growing-up hadn't exactly been traditional. He wasn't sure if he or Toby looked older, though. Maybe they could pass for twins! "Well, maybe..."

"I always thought it'd be nice to have siblings," Cody said. "I have cousins, though, and they were over a lot. Is your brother older or younger? Did you have many adventures?" He finished his mocha and set it aside, leaning forward, chin resting on a hand, elbow on the table.

"He's older," Dari said, "We... we've had some fantastic adventures, definitely. We still do. He taught me everything I know. I don't know what it would have been like if I was alone." Living in the ash of the incinerator until he developed the ability to crawl out? And then what?

Cody smiled. Dari really seemed to have a deep love for his brother, which was nice to see. He rarely saw such love between siblings in his classes. "The cousin closest to my age was a girl, Tanya, and she was three years older. She taught me how to braid hair when I was six." He made a face.

Dari nodded. "I can braid hair. I can..." What was more effeminate? "Hm." A pensive sip turned into gulping the last dregs of his drink. His expression was furrowed in thought. More effeminate than braiding hair, and less strange than being able to morph into an anatomically correct female on a whim... "Well. I apparently have very good fashion sense. I came out, and my brother's girlfriend was like, 'I knew it!'." He dramatically raised his hands in fists and laughed.

"Really? You look very well put-together," Dari said, "You could have fooled me. I'd be glad to help if you want, though." There was no more coffee left. Did that mean the date was over? He didn't want it to be. He tapped his empty cup on the table and pushed his mouth over to one side.
"Do you want to go see a movie or something?"

"That's not how this works!" Dari said, "I invited you!" Was he turning Cody's words back on him? Yes. Absolutely. "I don't even know what's playing."
He took out his phone and Googled local showtimes. It was just the usual; horror, romance, action, action, comedy, kids, kids.
