My raccoon has decided he would rather go back into my shop rafters every morning. But he has his full freedom now.
The little guy has a streak of OCD. If a string is out of place on my shirt he will pull on it until the whole thing unravels. He also can't seem to stand knotholes on wood beams, he scratches and works at them until the knots pop out. There were lables on the truces in my shop rafters, before he made them his home. He balls up leaves he collect out of the eaves and drops them down out of where he hangs out.
He seems to be about done cleaning his area, and now he is busy going through my stuff that he can get to. He got into an old clothes hamper I had full of not-quite-loved stuffed animals (there is a weird part of me that feels awful if I throw them away, but I don't want them and they are just too rough to donate to anyone). Trick is systematically removing button and beaded eyes, string noses, and unraveling any stray string he finds. LOL
He has a particular fondness for spiders. He seeks out their webs, tears them down, and then looks for the spider in the web to eat. Then he balls up the web and wipes it off of his hands.
He likes to splash in the water. I splashed him the other day while we were wading and he started bouncing around in a circle and chirping quite agitated. I thought I pissed him off, but then he bounced over to me, and stood up on his hind legs and flung his arms straight in front of him through the water. It was just like a little person would. He got me pretty good, so I got him back again, and then it was on. He would run just far enough I couldn't get him, and then run back and get me. Did you know raccoons laugh?

Well, these past few days have been rather terrible.
After noticing that our young boxer, Buster, was looking ill, we were informed by our veterinarian that he has a type of malignant cancer in his abdomen.
He has maybe two months to live comfortably until his health declines.
If I'm not online to post some days, it's because I'm his only caretaker, and I'd like to spend my time with him.
