"That's fine," Lin assured him as she placed her hand upon his head.

She supposed that was as much information as they were going to get, it was clear Andarien didn't understand why they had to ask. It wasn't that it was a problem, it was just knowing what it could be, could be useful to Andarien in the future.

Andarien looked up at Lin when she put her hand on his head, and then he crawled off of Earendil's lap and onto Lin's so that he could snuggle with her instead.

"Poor little guy," Elia said ruefully in the Common Tongue. "Maybe he'll be able to explain a bit better when he gets a bit older."

"Or sooner," Amora added thoughtfully, "now that he knows what kind of questions are going to be asked of him, maybe he'll start looking out for such things."

Lin hugged him, knowing that he was probably bothered by all of this questioning.

"Maybe... but we would have to explain to him the nature of Gifts first, he didn't really understand what we meant by that."

And it wasn't a surprise, Gifts weren't something they talked about often.

"It's not like we speak of them often," Amora pointed out, not realizing that she was echoing Lin's thoughts. "It's so taken for granted that we just tend to forget about them."

"That, and it's covered in our lessons usually long before any of our Gifts ever manifest," Elia added. "It's part of our education."

"And with us traveling all the time, languages has become our priority," Lin murmured, "Nevermind the fact unless it is specific to a particular race like the kitsune, Gifts aren't that common among Gaians, but general magic is... which I'm not good at and forget about half the time."

Perhaps it was a good thing they would eventually visit Gaia, maybe she could ask her mother to give the children a quick run down on basic magic and meditation. Miyuki could meditate but that was for fighters, to open their senses to those around them, it was not for magical sensing because Lin wasn't good at it.

"You know," Earendil said slowly, a thought forming in his mind, "I'm wondering ... if what Andarien sees is something that no one else can see, perhaps it could be ... sensed a different way. I mean, Andarien said that Lancaeriel was really bright, very different from everyone else, and I have to admit, I did feel something was different about her."

He looked at Lin and Miyuki. "Did either of you feel it?"

"I knew she was different, and not by the way she looked," Miyuki replied not getting what her ada was thinking.

She was simply thinking that there was something slightly different that she couldn't put a figure on.

Lin shook her head, "No... I can't see I did."

Earendil nodded. "I wonder if Alassëa might be able to help, then," he suggested. "She senses everything because she can't see. If Andarien can tell her the different levels of light that he sees, maybe she can sense the different levels of whatever it is and maybe she'll know what it is."

He shrugged. "Just a thought."

It might be best to keep it until after Andarien had rested a bit, though. He was tired, and already quite flustered from all of the questions.

Lin had to admit it was a pretty good thought.

"It is something to keep in mind for the future, at the moment it's not something we need to find out right away but it's good for Andarien to know what it is he's seeing, it could be useful in the future."

"Sounds good," Earendil agreed. He eyed the boy, who was half asleep, lying against Lin. It was a fairly good cue that it was time for them to take a rest, which they did.

The following day was the public execution, and they all stayed at the palace while Lothiriel and Estel went into the city, and the day after that, Lancaeriel showed up at the palace to visit.

Just as breakfast was ending, the door to the dining hall opened, and the tall, pale woman stepped into the room. Iorlas's eyes lit up, and she hurried to greet her friend, but Andarien closed his eyes and looked away from her.

Miyuki thought today was probably going to be a lesson day since they had to stay in (and she was trying really hard at her lessons even the ones she didn't like). Though upon seeing Lancaeriel, she thought that wouldn't be a bad thing, since she knew there was something up with her little brother, his Gift and Lancaeriel.

Looking over at her little brother she noticed how he wasn't looking at her.

"Are you okay?" Lin asked Andarien noticing his actions as well.

Andarien nodded and opened his eyes a crack. He looked around for Lancaeriel and watched her intently, his eyes opening bit by bit as he adjusted to her.

"Bright," he mumbled.

Earendil was feeling that strange feeling again, and he looked around to see if anyone else was reacting to it. They were, to various degrees: some of them didn't seem to be reacting at all, whereas Alena was staring at the woman in open amazement, and Alassëa was fidgeting with an anxious look on her face.

That must have been very bright seeing as Andarien had to look away, which interested her in many levels. At least it gave Lin some idea of what Andarien was seeing.

Miyuki could feel it of course, but it didn't bother her, it just made her curious. Since she didn't know what it was exactly, in fact she slipped off her chair and made her way over to Lancaeriel.

Earendil couldn't help but chuckle slightly as Miyuki headed off.

"There she goes again," he grinned.

In a way he was glad: she was interested in learning (most of the time) and that was a gift. And he supposed that it wasn't as if they had started their lessons for the day yet ...

Lancaeriel was chatting with Iorlas, but she smiled at Miyuki when she approached.

"Good morning," she said warmly.

"Yes, but I'm glad, it's hard to believe she was that shy child from back when we first started traveling," Lin replied.

Though she knew it also had partly to do with the fact that she had the mentality of a child when she was born, instead of being born a baby.

"Good morning," Miyuki smiled up at Lancaeriel
