[Would you like for me to do that?]
"Hey!" Atem snapped sharply. He reached forward and grabbed Ayira's arm. He hesitated, and then the angry look faded from his face. "Want to meet Kabi? I tried to make her say hello to Nanu, but Nanu refused to answer the door, supposedly."

"Oh, I can try. But with two wives I get twice the chance of having a son." Atem said brightly, clearly pleased at this idea. "Besides, Kabi is a nice girl-- woman. She's a lot more, um, extravagant than Nanu." He was leading the way to the series of servant's rooms.

[What if Kabi has a son, but it dies a little after it's birth? That's what I had been planning.]
Atem, after rousing a few servants, managed to locate Kabi. Since it was practically midnight, she had been asleep, but had managed to smooth down her dark, tangled hair and slip into her servant's gown. She bowed deeply to both Atem and Ayira. "Is there something you wish of me, pharaoh?"
"Huh? Oh, I just wanted Ayira to meet you. I was asking Seto about--" He broke off, frowning a little, realizing that there had been something he had forgotten. "Kabi, will you marry me?" The servant looked utterly shocked, and Atem didn't really wait for an answer. "I don't think we should be standing in the hallway. Let's go sit down somewhere."

"Um... Hello..." Kabi said in a faint voice, still looking stunned from the question. Initially it had been genuine, but she had honestly been expecting such a request for a while. "My pharaoh, I would be more than glad to accept your offer, of course." She bowed once again to him, even though he had begun to head away. She followed him obediently, as he went to the throne room. On the way there, Seto came from seemingly out of the shadows. Seto's sleeves had a little blood on them, but all other evidence of the healer's death had vanished. He gave a small bow to the pharaoh. "The man has been taken care of, your highness." He muttered. He never enjoyed carrying out such tasks when he did not agree with the pharaoh's reasoning. Criminals and murders he could understand, but the healer had been completely innocent. He glanced curiously at the servant, but made the connection in his head and didn't comment on her. "Where are you going?" "You were more fun when you bossed me around." Atem said to Seto, out of nowhere. "We're going to the throne room. I want you-- and Ayira-- to meet Kabi." Seto scowled slightly, as though already denying this, but didn't say anything.

"I have some details about the marriage I want to discuss with these two." Atem said, gesturing towards Seto and Kabi. "If you want to leave, feel free. You aren't needed." He said the last part somewhat snappishly. Seto's eyes narrowed, but he didn't comment.

Seto looked at Ayira, and then realized that the now-dead healer had been right, in some senses. It was mental more than physical pain, but she needed to rest. She must have been through a lot in the previous week. He felt that he should get some time to rest as well. He had already been forced back into his position as pharaoh's henchman even before he had had a full day of being back. "Pharaoh, I beg that you will change your mind. It is the middle of the night. This can wait for tomorrow, can it not?" He was getting fed up of being polite. Atem looked thoughtful, but shook his head. "No. I want it done now. Come along." Kabi didn't dare protest, and Seto sighed, looked at Ayira, and followed behind his cousin.

Seto laced his fingers with Ayira's and squeezed her hand warmly. Atem was next to Kabi, chating with the silent girl about some nonsense. Seto was making a point to ignore the pharaoh, since he would only get angry if he thought of him too much. They reached the throne room soon enough, and Atem plopped down on his throne. He invited Kabi to sit on his lap, which made Seto's face turn a shade darker, either from anger or from shame at seeing his cousin and this woman so publically intimate. He stood in front of the throne, waiting for Atem to begin the discussion. He seemed content on murmuring with Kabi, however.
