It might have helped if Andarien had been paying attention, but he didn't see that his Sight was such a big deal so he didn't feel like he needed to, especially as his mother was using the language he didn't know. That, in addition to being tired, had gotten him to lay down with Kaito, and he was quite comfortable now.
He caught Lin's glance and blinked at her. "What?"
Amora giggled softly at Andarien before turning her attention back to Lin. "That sounds interesting," she smiled. "But his magic wouldn't be the same as our magic, would it? He's not a true Ardan, is he?"

"No... he's not. He's Gaian despite his looks," Lin mused, "And Shiro I know the clan library has a lot of Grandfather Daemon's old books?"
She heard from her Grandfather Long that her maternal grandmother had been a bit of a bibliophile when he was human. So a lot of the library's initial books were actually from the main house library that got moved out so everyone in the family could use the books instead of going into the main house all the time.
So she assumed that her grandfather also had a lot of books on Sight seeing as he was a first generation seer.

Shiro nodded at Lin. "Yes, there are a lot of books on every subject. I'm assuming that you're asking what Andarien's Sight could be ..."
"We are," Earendil affirmed with a nod.
Shiro flicked his tail back and forth slowly. "Well ... you have to realize ... Lin, Grandfather's library is absolutely massive. But even with how many books he has, and how much of my own knowledge that I've gleaned from my sources, from the information that you've given so far, it's really not possible to say for certain what he might be seeing. There are so many different Sights that are possible that ... well even if I knew exactly what he saw when he looked at people, I might not be able to say for certain what it was."
He could give a guess, but that would be all it was. A guess.

"I figured as much, but it's worth a try. We do know all he sees is a light around us both, but he says Earendil's is a bit brighter than mine, Miyuki and I are about equal I think... and Iorlas' friend Lancaeriel is very bright. I don't know much about Lancaeriel to figure out why she would be so bright according to Andarien," Lin explained.
Without knowing more about Lancaeriel she didn't think they could begin to guess.

Shiro nodded thoughtfully. "And since I don't know her, that doesn't really help me either," he murmured. He looked over at Andarien, who looked half asleep. "Think he could give a bit more information?" he asked.
Elia giggled. "He looks like he wants to sleep," she grinned.
"Well, it was a long morning," Earendil admitted. He headed over to where Andarien was laying with Kaito and knelt next to him. "You awake?""
Andarien opened one eye and peered up at him. "Why?"

"Maybe?" Lin murmured to Shiro.
Andarien really didn't see what was the big deal which meant either he had always had this Gift or he developed it as such a young age he didn't remember never having it before.
"We were wondering if you could tell Shiro more about what you see, and how you see it," Lin told Andarien.

Earendil picked Andarien up and brought him over to the table where the others were sitting, then sat in a chair and kept Andarien in his lap.
Andarien's eyes were on Lin. "I already told you, didn't I?" he asked, confused. "The lady was all glowy! And you and Ada are glowy, and Miyuki is glowy, and those ladies are glowy ..." He pointed at Amora and Elia.

"What about Shiro and Kaito?" Lin asked.
So far it seemed like everyone was glowy which really didn't say much at all.
"Or, better question is, is there anyone who isn't glowly?"

Andarien blinked slowly at Lin. "Well ... Shiro and Kaito sometimes glow but mostly don't ... and it's not very bright."
He had to think a bit longer about her second question, though.
"Um ... Luk and Emile aren't glowy," he said finally. "And ... the horses aren't ... and ... Arthael only kinda sorta is ... a little bit ... sometimes ..."

Lin looked thoughtful and glanced over at Shiro wondering if he had any idea what Andarien could be talking about. Though it was interesting he mentioned that Luk and Emile didn't glow at all.
"I honestly am not sure what to make of that," Lin admitted.

Shiro looked intensely thoughtful, and he reached for a sheet of parchment and pulled a ballpoint pen from his back pocket.
"There's got to be some way to categorize those who glow and those who don't," he muttered, almost to himself. "Something in common with each of them."
He scribbled down some notes and stared at the paper.
"By race doesn't work, Lin's not an elf and Arthael isn't human," he decided, stroking something out. "Age is irrelevant ..."

Her lips quirked into a smile, leave it to Shiro to be fascinated by the whole situation. She supposed he must view this like some sort of puzzle.
"Andarien," Lin asked gently, "Do other animals not glow? Like the horses?"
Surely he must have seen some animals in passing, it wasn't like they were lack for wildlife while traveling unlike if they were sailing and they had started out in the Westland after all which had plenty of wildlife and insects.

When he thought about it, Andarien had to admit that he had only seen one animal that did glow.
"All the animals except 'Malirahc's Ada's dragon don't glow," he said finally. "Just that one does."
Shiro blinked at him. "Creatures of magic," he exclaimed excitedly. But as quickly as his excitement had come, it faded away. "No, that makes no sense ... otherwise Kaito and I would glow as well, and Arthael ..."
But what other connection was there?

"Or at least glow all the time, you, Kaito and Arthael only glow sometimes..."
Nearly all Gaians had magic on some sort, but it certainly wasn't as saturated as the elves. Elves pretty much reeked of magic compared to a normal Gaian, it was why Toshiro could be so active in the Four Lands without being close to Miyu, but nearly everyone in the family were above average in the magic department (strange family that they were).
Lin thought about it and then looked at Andarien again, "Bare with us... are Kaito, Shiro or Arthael doing anything when they glow?"

Andarien pressed his cheek against Earendil's chest, uncomfortable from all the questions that were being pressed upon him. Honestly, he was content just to let things be as they were. What did all of this matter?
"I don't know," he mumbled, lowering his gaze. "I don't look."
Rather, he didn't pay attention, not that he cared about the difference.
