Oh, and of course there's the EVANGELION END that just shows a complete lack of creativity on the part of the writer. Can't think of a good way to resolve things in the last couple episodes? There's a way to fix that!

Worst. Endings. Ever.
And they happen far too often.
Watch Kanon. Traditional harem romance type show, but the main character is actually somebody you'll like. Normally it's some dumbass kid with a boner and a perpetual sweatdrop. The main character in Kanon is someone I'd actually like to have as a friend. He was a genuinely cool guy. The anime is pretty good as it goes, too. Some characters get killed off, but it does have a happy ending.
Leaves you wondering how one guy can attract so many freaks, though.
I actually watched the entirety of that after starting to watch Sola, which was made by the same team. Sola was also interesting in many of the same ways. Did have a BAD END though, and many knives, but it was enjoyable to see. "Most ******** adorable thing I've ever seen about people that melt in the sun."

Hey, I liked the Evangelion ending. A bit sad and definitely quite weird, but I liked the style. o.O
EDIT: Besides, it was a kind of '******** You' to all the people who bitched about the original ending to the series. Anno Hideaki gave everybody what they asked for, but did it in a manner that left everybody feeling unsatisfied anyway.

Yes, more or less. Played a couple, don't see much in them beyond mindless diversion. They in no way mirror anything about reality, so it's hardly a 'sim' at all. I'd laugh to see a dating sim with PMS programmed in. 'Date anime' or 'harem anime' is much the same... weird. Usually a shameless excuse for panty shots and cramming together all the stereotypes you can think of, including the 'shy girl with glasses', 'athletic girl', and '***** explain why I always watch them, though, other than that I'm a hopeless romantic at heart and just can't seem to turn away. :sadface:

I can't remember when I've come across a stupid end, need an example. Incomplete ends are what drive me nuts. ******** end the story already. Sure I can guess what's going to happen and I'm likely to be right, but I want to see it with my own damn eyes you son of a b***h. Your (the writers/director) conception was like a game of russian roulette: your mother was passed around until someone didn't fire a blank. So much hate...
The good end...ya standard. Quite frankly, not every girl can get the guy...except for Tenchi Muyo. Tenchi Muyo Rhyoko, especially Tenchi Muyo GXP, just avoids the entire issue all-together which I found a bit off but I was like 'Eh whatever' at the time. I'm a lot more picky now.
As for Kanon and Sola: I actually did watch and enjoy both of them. I saw the remake of Kanon as it had my favourite male seiyu as the lead. All in all, that harem anime made me feel the best out of all the ones that I've watched. The voice acting, the plot, animation quality: a lot of effort and passion was put into it and you could feel it by just watching it. Sola was pretty 'awww' and the felt a little unsettling but was still good. I still don't know about Utawarerumono's ending or how I feel about that one, but I did like the anime.
And if you really want 'aww I feel warm and fuzzy': Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora.

I could guess at what the translations of those names are but I'd probably be pretty off.
