"But you already have, and twice now for that matter." Kaguyo answered him, tears streaming down her face. "And because of that, I can't believe a word you say..."
Even if, inwardly, she was starting to. "There was hardly danger during Po-ar's reign... For all your messengers, you couldn't send me one." she swallowed the lump in her throat. "I wanted to be dressed this way for you," Kaguyo fumed angrily. If her suffering was easy to sense before, it was almost impossible to feel anything save it now. She could hardly breathe, the heartbreak ripping through her torso was so severe. "I wanted to be your bride, but you had other ideas, Ainsu, and I'm tired of waiting around."
She was starting to move away, but he still could take her hands if he was fast enough.
Vincent nodded solemnly. "I hope so too..." he murmured. "She's been through a lot... I don't think she ever expected to love after Ea." he admitted to the woman, watching his sister from time to time. "As for Kaguyo and Ainsu.... I just hope you're right." he sighed. "It sounds like Aled's capable of a lot of damage."

Ainsu's hands shot out, catching her own between the bars. "Why wait?" he asked. "If not for Aled, Kaguyo, we could be happy. I couldn't send a messanger because I didn't want this." the man replied. "Your tears... I... I FEEL your pain, Kaguyo. I always have. My power is in part empathy, and I thought that if your heart could never break again... that you might be happy somehow."

"Aled's capabilities are beyond anything you can imagine." Ashuri replied with a frown. "He makes Konton look like a walk in the park."

Kaguyo laughed softly, sadly, swallowing another lump in her throat. His touch threw her off like no other...
All she ever wanted was Ainsu, her heart knew this.
"Without you, all I've ever been was broken." Kaguyo answered bluntly, trying to pull away. "I've gotten used to it, now... Not all dreams come true."
But he was telling the truth. There was something about it his eyes that was telling her this.
Vincent winced. "So who knows what to expect of those two..." he murmured. "What if Ainsu and Kaguyo are split apart, Ashuri?"

"And for that I am so sorry." Ainsu whispered. "I hoped, by keeping the pain of us away from you... that I would help you, not do more harm."

The woman thought about this for a long moment. "It depends on if Kaguyo remains on Ainsu's side or switches back to Aled's, really."

"It doesn't matter now, though." Kaguyo wept. "Let go of me, Ainsu..."
Her broken heart was just breaking into smaller pieces. If Aled didn't get her out of this soon, there was a real possibilty of her defecting again.
"Kaguyo wouldn't go to Aled... she hates him, doesn't she?" Vincent frowned.

"Yes but she hates me and Ainsu as well." Ashuri replied with a sigh.

Kaguyo laughed bitterly at this. "Flee, you say?? Flee where, Ainsu?" she asked him softly. "The ship is long, long gone.... they left hours ago. If I become Queen, I'm assured that I'll live.... and you will too, for that matter. I can love you openly... Aled told me so." she whispered. "Besides... If I left, he would hunt me down and kill me on the spot." she sighed, "And one of us would watch the other suffer that fate."
She spoke the truth. "Aled hasn't given up on me... You gave up on me, Ainsu. You gave up on me when I was left here, all those years ago... Gave up on me whenever Aled was dead all that time... Gave up on me for... for Ashuri..." she choked out, and her name was especially bitter on her tongue. "Po-ar and Ashuri both knew.... And you think me daft enough to believe you wouldn't repeat that again.."
It was more of a question than a statement, but she was seriously considering his words.
By now, Aled would have been ready.
"I don't think she hated Ainsu." Vincent remarked. "She was scared when she dropped this off... Scared for him, in fact." he thought carefully. "She hates you, though. You can sense it everytime you're both too close. Absolutely hates you."

"I gave up on Ashuri long ago." Ainsu replied honestly. "Po-ar never knew because I didn't want to burden him with my own guilt about not hurting you further." the man sighed slightly. "I've never truly given up on you, Kaguyo. Please, you have to believe me."

"You can't love another and claim to have not given up on me." Kaguyo choked out, trying to collect herself. She was doing a piss-poor job of it, but she was trying. "You left me here to die... You left me to chase another woman... And today, you left me under the impression that... that.."
Her tears overwhelmed her, and she pulled away, her left hand clutching her heart. "That..."
She took another step backwards towards the stairs. "That despite... all this, you wouldn't break me again... That I could trust you..."
Between how absolutely shattered she looked and felt, Kaguyo's breaking heart only intensified Ainsu's pain. Aled hadn't been kidding.
There was no way to inflict this sort of damage on someone with any tool.
"That maybe... maybe I..." she gestured, unable to express it. She winced, closing her eyes as she wept bitterly.
But she could only choke, disappearing up the stairs.
"...was meant for you after all." It was unspoken, but they were the only words that could have fit with her emotions.
Kaguyo fled from the dungeon, only to trip on the gown she wore....
And face-first into Aled.
Vincent nodded a bit. "Oh, you can tell. She's absolutely venemous towards you, Ash... Did... anything ever....happen, between you and Ainsu?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Ainsu felt himself sink to the floor of his prison, barely able to contain the pain running through him from his and Kaguyo's feelings mixing within him.
"Kaguyo... please..." he whispered to the silence.

Quickly, Aled caught the crying Kaguyo. "Shhhh..." he whispered, holding her steady. "What's wrong, my dear?"

"Nothing." Ashuri replied honestly. "He was a loyal friend and ally, but he was never more than that to me." she smiled slightly. "I always knew Kaguyo loved him... I would not stand in the way of that."

Kaguyo couldn't speak. The answer was obvious, she was crying so hard.
She leaned against him, trying furiously to calm herself, and regulate her breathing.
This was working much better than he had planned.
Vincent nodded slowly. "But even so, Ainsu's eye drifted... and Kaguyo blamed you." he mused. "Or the both of you. How long ago did this happen?"

"I take it Ainsu insulted your intelligence." Aled whispered gently. "Fear not, Kaguyo-chan... You never have to speak with him again if that's how you want it."

Kaguyo nodded, her sobs dying down to simple tears.
She trusted him. Aled hadn't failed her yet, not in all this time.
Vincent blinked. "They were young, weren't they??... I guess it's true what they say," he mused, "You never get over your first."

"Shhhhh...." Aled whispered, rubbing Kaguyo's back gently and in soothing circular motions. "All is well, my dear."

Ashuri smiled, "Yes... Ainsu was no more than around seventeen at the time and already he was one of the most powerful Tarnb-jin on the planet."
