"There's that small place downtown, everything's done right in front of you--" like a mom and pop coffee place, it was nice. "Do you know it? It's right next to the toy shop on main." Cody was really, terribly excited to see Dari again.

"I've never been there, what's it called?" Dari asked. He could easily punch it into Mapquest and find his way there, "Or even the toy store...?"

Oh, right, the name of the coffee shop would probably be useful. Derp. He'd gotten so excited he'd forgotten how to give proper directions. "The coffee shop's called On the Ave," he said, "And the toy store is Marcy's."

"Alright, I'll see you soon, then," Dari replied. He could hear the guy grinning. It was adorable. Nobody had been this gung-ho about spending time with him before. Was it the shirtless thing? Eh, who cared? Even if it was just physical, it felt nice. "Goodbye, Cody."

"See you tomorrow!" Cody smiled brightly and hung up the phone. He had a date for tomorrow. Lordy, it'd been years. He hadn't dated since college, and it was nice to have the chance.

The next day a human Dari was busying himself with getting ready to leave. Toby might have thought he was going out dancing again were it not for the time of day. He was sort of dressed for the club, maybe more casually, but the t-shirt and jeans he wore fit a bit snugly. It was the stylish jacket that did it. Dari pulled it on and went to grab his keys. That was not a jacket you brought to the club.
"Where in the hell are you going?" Toby asked with a chuckle. He just couldn't figure it out!
"I have a date." Dari smiled cheekily.

"Oh, a date?" Maia smiled brightly, looking to Dari, and then Toby. She went over to the alien and hugged him. "You look nice," she said, releasing him to get a proper look. "Who're you going with?" Was it someone they knew?
Maybe someone from HQ? Or someone he'd met at the club?

Dari grinned as Maia looked him over, even lifting his elbows to give her a better look. "His name is Cody. He spilled coffee on me in the park last week."
Toby smiled. "Really! You got yourself a date? Why didn't you tell me?"
"It took me a week to call him. I only did yesterday."

Well. ...That was a strange reason to ask someone on a date, but then, she'd met Toby via capture on the beach. "Are you excited?" she asked. "Where are you going?" His very first date! She hoped this Cody guy was special.

"To a coffee shop. 'On the Ave.' I've never been there before," Dari said, "I guess I'm excited. It's my first date. Most people get to have these in adolescence, but not me."
"You're only sixish. You're beating all of us out," Toby said with a grin.
"Yes, I don't think I'll be telling him that. He's human," Dari said.
"Oh?"
"He was reading an article on extraterrestrial life!"
The two shared a bit of a giggle about that.

To a coffee shop, cute! And he was excited, good. "Hey," she said, "I had my first date at thirty-seven." She grinned at Dari. "You'll be fine." He must have been a special human, to have captured Dari's--awww. The guy was interested in aliens! They could bond over that.
"Is he one of those inbetweeners you like so much?"

Dari's brow furrowed. "In-betweeners?"
"Not a Roswell kook, not a total disbeliever?"
"...oh! No, I think he leans more toward Roswell, unfortunately."
"It was a weather balloon!"
"Yeah, well. I'd rather he believe than totally disbelieve. He'd be boring otherwise."

"There's all sorts of conspiracies around Roswell," Maia said, thoughtfully. "Some websites say they found a body, but if they actually had, I'm betting it'd have started a war." She shook her head. "Go have fun, Dari," she hugged him. "You don't want to be late."
Cody had arrived early, he was standing in front of the coffee shop, in case Dari needed him as a landmark. He couldn't wait.
