"You need to be careful around the Suits" he said as they approached the castle gates "specially the jacks" he added before they reached the castle gates that connected to the garden, the figure of a young girl caught his eye but he played no attention whatsoever to it, more focused on hearing Maria's response.
Jackie stood not too far away from the castle silhouette, he saw the two figures approaching the entrance and maintained her position in order to verify their identity, she had not attended the ball, the suits who did had the day off until 1pm, they didn't want personnel falling asleep on duty after all but they also needed people to attend the regular business of the castle at day and she was one of the, she had woken up at 5am to the news of the queen of hearts absence and decided to take matters on her own hand.

"I will do my best. Though Jack of Diamonds already knows perfectly well that I do not trust him nor his suits." Maria replied with pure amusement, not yet noticing the young girl nearby. "Just another strike against me, I guess. It's not like I care what the advisors think anymore, since they've already labled me an insubordinate scandal." she added in with a shrug. "I do not see the appeal of men and women who blindly submit themselves to every order they are given."

Nobody smiled at her answer, he had probably been underestimating Maria by a great deal "good" he said taking her hand and kissing it with a small vow "Until fate might reunite us again" he whispered against Maria's hand, he didn't wish to leave but it would be to risky to get back there, when he straightened himself nobody remembered something "Oh, if you happen to see a man that goes by the name of Eight of clubs, please let him know there is someone waiting for him at the garden gates" it could happen they never met but that would be better than seeing eight again by casualty.

Maria nodded, feeling somewhat reluctant to let him go. "If I come across him I shall be sure to let him know." she promised, before kissing Nobody on the forhead as part of her farewell. "Until we meet again...I'll be looking forward to it." With that she withdrew into the castle's depths, hoping to hide herself from those who would pester her endlessly for as long as she could. Knowing some of the inhabitants of the castle, it would likely be an hour or less.

Nobody watched the retreating figure of maria and his heart felt too heavy on his chest, why did it ached this much just to be away from her? knowing she was right there but that he couldn't touch her at all, it was like looking at a butterfly in a glass cage.
"Good morning your highness" Jackie said when she saw the queen of hearts come in to ear shot, she really didn't care what the queen did on her spear time but running away from a social event was certainly not appropriate.

Even if it wasn't appropriate Maria didn't care all too much. It was more of a formality anyway, one of which that would be done again and again as the years would come. "Good morning." she replied cheerfully, having her child like behavior out once more. "I trust that your day has been well so far?" she continued, removing her mask as well. The queen didn't know why, but removing it helped her think less of the crones she so detested.

Jackie smiled "Yes, well indeed since our fugitive queen has returned on her own foot" she said not too cheerful, it was way too early for her to be on a cheerful mood, no matter the fact that she didn't had to leave the castle to accomplish her mission this time "We where about to send a search party after you, that would have been inconvenient for the boy that accompanied you, they might have confused him with a dangerous person" she added to try and measure the reaction from the queen, she had not deal with her before so she had no idea what to expect.

Maria sighed and nodded. "I know, I know. How they just adore holding me against my will." she said somewhat sarcastically, before offering a smile once more. "Please forgive me, but surely one such as yourself can understand how irritating it is to listen to useless complaints and quarrels every breathing seccond of your day? I promise not to sneak off too much in the future, really. I'm just...getting used to not being starved and confined to my room." she explained, hoping to smooth talk her way out of a lecture by anybody. Somehow the queen was able to manage sneaking her puppy eyes in, as if that were enough to buy forgiveness.

Jackie allowed herself a small smirk "I am sorry, I do not understand" she truly didn't, her definition of 'useless complaints and quarrels' was very different after all, usually she was able to silence the quarrel's before they started, at least if they involved her and she didn't mind the screams of pain and begs of forgiveness anymore, she even found them amusing "But we do not pretend to have you locked up, your highness, we just want to ensure your safety, you should be able to 'skip' the complains and quarrels so long as you follow the appropriate channels" she said with the smirk still on her face "Surely you've met them already, you just don't know how to use them yet" she finished with a sinister look and a quizzical smile.

Maria chuckled at the girl's words. "Not yet, but I'll learn eventually - which is when they stop comparing me to mother, of course." she replied playfully. "Though I must say if you've figured it out I applaud you. They aren't what I would call an open book." The queen then said, "If you've any advise you are willing to share would you kindly let me know?" she asked, not necessarilly demanding that the girl help her. She was just asking in a cheery if somewhat confused matter.

Jackie smirked again, surely the queen had no idea who she was talking to or the channels that she was suggesting, of course Jackie didn't expect maria to follow the path she herself followed, that would be silly and useless, Maria was the queen where's Jackie had been always meant to be a pawn of her father but had resigned herself to being a pawn of the Jack of diamonds instead in order to do whatever she wished to do.
"You just need to do what they think they want you to do, not necessarily what they tell you" she said, it was a little confusing but that's the way things worked most of the time, people would say one thing but mean another and what they meant then became opposed to what the actually 'want' but that which they want ends up being that which they 'detest' it was hard to figure out but it basically meant to pretend.

"I suppose that makes sense. I'll have to test that out sometime..." Maria stated, although she was slightly more confused than before. They always seemed so taciturn and boring like math, they were also difficult to figure out as well!

Jackie started and seemed to think it for a moment "Oh, no, but you wouldn't wish to do that" she said waving her hand divisively "It is easier but you certainly wouldn't like to try that..." she added tuning around to hide her facial expression and started to walk wondering if the queen would follow.
