They actually made a movie about it in the 80's. It's called, 'The Blob.', so check it out.

I was actually quite appreciate of the fact that they broke the 'We can't kill kids' stigma that plagues horror movies. It was a really good movie for its day and age,a nd the methods they used for the Blod far surpass the efforts of today's CG's.
