She followed behind.
"I've had some training, but due to certain circumstances, I've avoided anything using chakra for the last 10 years. I'm hoping to find someone here who's really good at teaching chakra control, before I start working on anything else."

Sage chuckled, " good luck with that....the entire time I've been here I've only managed to get teaching in tree climbing. I'd say your best bet would be to try and remember the techniques you used to use, then try to remember how you used to practice. For example, to hone mental energies, I would meditate for many hours on end....that doesnt exactly help with chakra...but it does with psychic capabilities."
Taking a few deep breaths, Sage slapped his hands together and began to slowly build his charka. As he charged his chakra, he walked over to the wall, and placed a foot onto it. Taking his time, he channeled the gathering chakra into his feet, attaching first his left, then his right to the wall's surface. After a few tense moments, Sage began to break a sweat, before falling off the wall and onto the floor with a thud. "ow....stupid...chakra..."

"Physical stuff I'm not all that worried about. I didn't give up my kenjutsu after the incident, so I'm still in pretty good shape as far as that's concerned. But one of the elders in my village sent me here mainly to pick up with the ninjutsu and genjutsu training I abandoned, and before I can do that, I've gotta get a hang on my chakra control...."
...or else I'll kill someone again, she thought, turning her gaze away from Sage's training and towards the floor.

Sage nods a bit, " always good to have physical training...but it's the mental that will take longer. if you can't remember how to gather chakra, I'd suggest meditating on it."
After speaking, Sage gets up and brushes himself off. He then takes a few deep breaths, and tries again, placing first one foot, then the other onto the wall, and holding himself there for as long as he can.

"Gathering it isn't the problem. You ever heard of the Kimura clan?"

After falling to the ground again, Sage takes a few deep breaths. He then replies, " Kimura? no....not very knowledgable about this strange land. well, except with where to find herbs and such. Would you mind elaborating?"

"Our clan's bloodline limit allows us to 'use' double the amount of chakra while actually only using the normal amount. Generally, this ability doesn't awaken until we're around 16. In most cases, this leaves a few years between becoming chuunin and having to deal with this ability to learn to precisely control our chakra, so that once the ability awakens we can control when we use it. Once we become chuunin we devote 80% of our training time to chakra control techniques."
She looked up at Sage, and continued, with a hint of sarcasm in her voice.
"Luckily for me, it awakened while I was training for the chuunin exam. I was sparring, it activated without my knowledge, I used far too much chakra on a jutsu without trying to, and I outright killed the person I was sparring against."

Sage nodded a bit, " and since you havent used it for ten years...I would assume you didnt get back on the horse? such a shame...you spent ten years working on how to use a sword instead of how to control your own abilities. It was a reckless thing to stop your training, because if you can't control when it activates, you will lose your ability to ever fight at a high level. I would suggest either never bothering to fight again, or getting back on the horse and riding it until it breaks. ten years is a long time, tis true, but I'm guessing you had to learn your techniques at a young age? you should be able to find your jutsu once more with relative ease. you may not know when it's going to happen, but there are ways to keep others safe. practice either with a master of the jutsu your using, or practice alone. when your 'boost' flares up, a master of the jutsu would be able to dissassemble it, through greater knowledge of the technique. If alone, you could as well practice without harming others...assuming you were far enough away that a boost wouldnt cause the jutsu to get close to any other people."
((and yes, Sage rambles....ALOT xp ))

"When you're 14, killing your best friend is a pretty traumatic experience. Especially if you'd been best friends since you were 5. I gave up the training so I wouldn't accidentally kill anyone else, and also because I couldn't stand living there anymore, so I moved from the village to live with my great aunt and uncle in a village that wasn't a ninja village. I didn't have anyone to teach me the techniques I'd need if I ever wanted to use my skills again safely. And I didn't have the will to try again until recently. Hence me being here."

Sage nods a bit, " ahhh...best friend....I thought it was someone less close. well then, I can only suggest doing whatever you did to practice control when you were first learning jutsu. "
Sage then rolls to his feet, and conjures up chakra yet again. He again takes his time, and attaches his feet to the wall, his back facing the ground, and his face pointed at Damaris as they talk. With each attempt, his face becomes more strained.

"As I said before, I'm hoping to find someone here who's really good at chakra control that can help me out. I didn't actually work that much with chakra control. I was good enough with it that I could perform my jutsus without wasting too much chakra, but I was far from a master. That training would have come after I hit chuunin. I spent most of my time just practicing jutsu's and learning new ones, in preparation for the chuunin exam."

Sage blinked a bit, and fell to the ground once more. I think that's enough bruising for one day.....ow....
" they taught you jutsu, yes...but how did you learn to control them? how did you learn to summon the energy? think about it. they had to have taught you the basics of control, or you wouldnt have been able to form jutsu. even if it was learning how to tap into a natural talent, it still takes practice. perhaps they had you concentrate your chakra in a specific point, for long periods of time?"

"...I learned how to gather chakra and expell it. I never learned how to actually control my chakra well enough to really focus it well and only spend as much as I needed to. The chakra mastery training came after chuunin exams. Of course we had to be able to use it in order to make it to chuunin, but they didn't focus on mastering it til after we became chuunin. There's a lot of other techniques they would teach to make us masters. But they didn't want to clutter up our minds with all the different techniques til after we were chuunin. Our main focus until we became chuunin was learning the basics of how to use chakra, and then learning the different jutsus that would be required to know in order to survive the chuunin exams. Once that was out of the way, we could devote more of our time to the chakra mastery, which would in turn make the rest of our skills better.

Sage simply lay on the ground for a while, pondering for a bit. no control techniques....how strange....you would think they would get the person started with things they could train on thier own with....oh well. perhaps meditation can help things...after all, chakra is a combination of bodily energies and mental...
After taking a deep breath, Sage replied, " try meditation. meditation and visualization....if nothing else, meditate for the time being, it never hurts to have a clear and focused mind. as for masters of control, I dont know when the next one will deign to stop by."

((sage, the whole point I was trying to make by repeating myself about 10 times there was that they taught us BASIC control techniques, not ADVANCED control techniques, and the nature of this bloodline requires you to be a master to be able to use it as you want it instead of it acting on it's own, and it would take forever to become a master with basic techniques unless you just had a knack for chakra control))
"So no one here is a master of chakra control then?"
