Lin simply was desensitized to magic, though her mother had a feeling it was also simply the fact Lin had no inclination towards magic. If Lin had not been born by magical means she would have probably been completely magicless otherwise.

So of course Lin didn't see anything unusual except that Andarien was being really shy. Trying to hide in Lin's clothes wasn't very useful seeing as she didn't favour dresses like the way Miyuki did.

Miyuki on the other hand was magically inclined (though she did not know it yet) and something was just... not quite bothering her but there was something she couldn't put her figure on. Whatever it was, made her nose twitch.

"Hello," Miyuki blinked finally looking up at Lancaeriel.

Lancaeriel looked at Miyuki curiously, tilting her head thoughtfully. Maybe it was just her, but it seemed as though Miyuki had been distracted by something about her before saying hello.

"I have to say, I've never seen anyone quite like you," she smiled at Miyuki. "What is your race called?"

While Lancaeriel was talking with Miyuki, Iorlas turned to Daeron, Lin and Earendil. "Do you suppose we could ask her to travel with us, if she would like to?" she asked them anxiously. "I ... I know it's not my place to ask, but ... I would like it if she could ..."

"Mommy says I'm a kitsune," Miyuki replied rocking on her heels.

She would put it that way, Miyuki had never seen another kitsune but had heard about them. So she didn't really have much to go on. Just like she didn't understand what was this feeling she got from Lancaeriel.

Miyuki was pretty sure Lancaeriel would be hard to miss in a crowd.

Lin looked over at Dareon and Earendil, "I don't have a problem with it, if she would like to."

Of course Lin never seemed to have an issue with that, but she knew that they were traveling with many others now and she wasn't sure who would have final say in this case.

"A kitsune?" Lancaeriel was intrigued, and she pulled a notebook out of her bag and opened it to a fresh page. She pulled out a charcoal pencil and began to write. "I don't suppose you could give me a bit more information about what a kitsune is," she requested, smiling at Miyuki. "I'm afraid I'm quite curious ... I've seen a lot in this world, but never anyone like you, and I have a- an undying curiosity, I suppose you could say."

Daeron reached out and took Iorlas's hands in his own, trying to calm her. She was clearly anxious, and he wanted to help her. "I don't believe anyone would have a problem with her joining us," he told her. "After all, the more the merrier, as Lin says quite often. If you want her to join us at the palace, you would have to ask Lothiriel and Estel if that's all right, but otherwise ..."

Earendil watched the woman thoughtfully. He could sense something different about her as well, though, like Miyuki and Andarien, he couldn't put his finger on what it was.

Miyuki blinked and looked thoughtful, her ears flipping as she caught sounds of the adults talking but she wasn't paying attention enough to over hear. She didn't understand, she was who she was.

"More what a kitsune is?" she finally questioned.

"Earendil?" Lin murmured, he hadn't said anything yet.

Lancaeriel laughed softly. "I apologize, I should be more clear. You are a kitsune the way I am a Light Elf. What makes you different from others? Aside from your appearance, I mean. What are your abilities? Can you perform magic?"

She cut herself off, lowering the notebook. "I'm sorry. I'm probably overwhelming you. I'm afraid it has been a long time since I've seen something new to me."

Earendil looked down at Lin. "Sorry," he murmured apologetically. "I was ... distracted." He looked back at the strange, pale woman. "There's just ... something about her ..."

"She looks funny," Andarien spoke up, looking up at his parents. "All ... glowy."

Miyuki shook her head, "No, it's just.... you seem different uhm... that didn't come out right."

Miyuki hummed a bit trying to figure out how to explain it but didn't know how to at all.

"Not the way you look," she tried again, "You just... are."

Lin was about to reply to that until Andarien had spoken up, she looked down at Andarien at then at Lancaeriel, "Does only she look glowly?"

She spoke this in common elvish because she suspected a gift and would like for Andarien to understand what she was saying at the moment.

Lancaeriel laughed again, not at all put off by Miyuki's comment. "Well, in how I look and how I am, I suppose I am a bit different." She tucked her notebook and pencil away again. It wasn't the time or the place to be asking questions as she had been. "And if you have any questions about me, feel free to ask," she winked at Miyuki, her gray eyes sparkling brightly. "As you can tell, I have no problem with asking questions of my own, so it's only fair."

Andarien looked back at Lin and nodded. "Just look at her!" he exclaimed. "She's all white!"

Couldn't his mother see how much lighter she was than everyone else? It was so clear to him!

Miyuki nodded at this, but really did take a good look at her, "In how you are maybe, but not how you look."

Of course Miyuki had grown up around all sorts of people so Lancaeriel didn't really stand out to her in anyway. She looked like a Light Elf for all intents and purposes.

"It's just I get this feeling, I've never had it before."

Lin hummed at this, "Andarien, when you look at your ada and me what do you see?"

She learned the hard way with Amalirahc that when it came to types of Sight unless you asked no one would be the wiser.

Lancaeriel smiled at Miyuki. "And have you any idea that that might be?" she asked curiously. "I have to say, I feel the same as ever."

Though out of the corner of her eye (and ear) she had also noticed Andarien's rather interesting reaction. To be honest, she was rather amused by his comments, though she wasn't reacting to them, but rather sticking to her own conversation with Miyuki.

Andarien blinked at Lin. "I see you and Ada," he said as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. After all, what else would he see when he looked at his parents? Honestly, grownups confused him sometimes - even when they were speaking his language.

Miyuki shook her head, "I just know if you were in a crowd of Light Elves I could pick you out really easily I bet."

She didn't know why she was sure of this, but she was pretty sure that would be the case.

Lin sighed and squatted down so she could be closer to Andarien's height, "I mean, is your ada and I glowing? What colour is the glow?"

She was familiar with certain forms of sight so she just wanted to know what to expect.

For some reason that thought amused Lancaeriel, especially since she knew it wasn't because of her unique looks. Fae, some had called her; pixie-ish, others had described her as: and yet this child was speaking of something entirely different.

"Well, if you can't explain, I won't push you to," she smiled. "But then, everyone has something unique about them. No one is exactly the same as anyone else."

Andarien blinked at Lin again. "Well ... white," he said as if it were the only possible answer. "Light is light, right? But 'cept you and Ada only glow a little little bit, well Ada more than you but still just a little bit, and Mi glows a little bit, but this lady is all white!"

He frowned at his mother. "What's the matter, Nana? Can't you see it too?"

Well Miyuki couldn't disagree with that at all really, because it was true. She nodded at this.

"It would be boring if everyone was," she told Lancaeriel.

She looked thoughtful and then brighten up.

"But if you're interested in learning new things maybe you should talk to Shiro, because Shiro knows a lot!"

"Ah.... no I can't. Apparently you have a Sight gift, but what you're seeing I have no clue."

It wasn't auras perse, she was sure of it otherwise he would be seeing colour, but what was he seeing?
PostPosted: Thu Dec 15, 2011 5:40 pm

"Shiro?" And just like that, the woman was filled with curiosity again. "Who is Shiro?"

Like Miyuki, it was a name that didn't fit any culture she knew.

Andarien looked at Lin and sighed. "I see you and Ada and Mi and the lady," he told her, clearly not understanding. But at the moment, he was just realizing that there was something Lin had said that he didn't understand. "What's a gift?"

He had never received a gift, nor seen one given, so he didn't know what it was.

"At any rate, Earendil, you never did answer the question." Daeron poked his brother to get his attention again.

Earendil chuckled and waved Daeron's hand away. "Yes, yes. You know I would welcome her as a traveling companion. I'll be the first to admit, I would like to know more about her."

Not to mention, if Iorlas was so eager to have her along, then she must be very important to her.

"Shiro is... he's mommy's nephew."

Since Miyuki only called Shiro, Shiro and didn't know what his relation was to her or if there was even a name for that.

"He knows lots of things because he can remember it all on the first time."

Which just meant he knew a lot.

"When I say Gift, I mean you have an ability of a magical quality that allows you to do something that other people cannot. For example, I can hear what butterflies tell me, which is why I attract them when they're in season."

Lin tried to explain this, and she was sure that Andarien had seen how the butterflies stalked her..
