Rogue knew that he would need to learn to control the beast within him on his own...and it would take practice. She felt somewhat bad, seeing he could not initially handle it...but then again, none of them could really handle it once it became a part of them.

Out of the shadows of the stairway Alasdair’s profile slowly formed. From the naked eye his long black trench coat was shiny new. He had bought the new coat not long ago, and it was a very modern technology that allowed the coat to be bulletproof. Alasdair opened the door to the roof, the strong wind that gusted through the door blew his long silver hair back. He walked out the door, closing it behind him, and walked over to the ledge of the floor. He placed his black gloved hands on the cement railing, as he looked around the city with his violet eyes.
He was thinking of Kaei, of how powerful she really was. He wondered whether he would hold that power one day. How beautiful she looked with the bright lights of the city looking up to her, her deep green eyes that just seemed to welcome him. Her sweet blood that just enchanted him, her scent was intoxicating; he just could not get her out of his mind.
Alasdair’s mind was racing around; so many things were going on in the city.

It seemed that Kaei left Alasdair with more than her memory; she also left him with the habit of smoking cigarettes. Alasdair now always carried a pack of Marlboro reds, and he felt the sting of the nicotine calling out for him. So Alasdair indulged the craving from time to time, it was not like the vice could kill him. Miraculously a vampire could negate any poison in their blood. Alasdair chuckled softly as the thought. He took a deep drag as he lit the cigarette; he turned around as he blew a cloud of smoke.

Rogue entered through the main doors, and made her way up to the second floor. She stopped briefly to admire the painting there that covered almost an entire wall, but was done on a tremendously large canvas. She had the painting brought in after the place was rebuilt to sit in an identical spot to where it stood before Las Noches was destroyed.
The painting was dark with the three siblings together in the modern city. She had painted it out of happiness finding that they were alive after 500 years. She lit a cigarette and moved towards her private room.

‘Where could Kaei be?’ That was all Alasdair could think about. After making a scene the last time he had seen her. He wanted to apologize for letting his thirst take control of him. How could he be so weak around her. Alasdair took a deep drag as he thought about Kaei, and about how to apologize to her. ‘Oh baby I’m so sorry. I never meant to be so weak around you. I…I think I’m falling in love with you…’ Alasdair thought about it, if he could that was what he wanted to tell her. But he always had trouble saying what he really meant to her. He had let his mind wide open to her, so that when he thought of beautiful things to say to her, she could just pick it out of his head.

A guard met her at the door and smiled, opening it for her. "Thank you, Robert." A quick drag and she walked to the small bar in the room and made herself a drink. She wondered how her siblings were getting along. She was glad to have found them.
She had not spent much time in this room as of late, and made her way over to the one sided looking glass that overlooked the dancefloor of the club.

Alasdair sensed Kaei around, it was either that she was nearby or that he just wanted her so bad that he was actually imagining her. He grinned as he walked to the center of the roof looking at the sky. It was a beautiful night, the stars were shinning there was a crescent moon out. Alasdair reached the middle of the room and just stood there, looking at the sky.

That man is not allowed in here she spoke to one of the guards as he was about to let in a hunter who had been causing trouble a few nights before. She recognized him and he had spoken with her, his surface thoughts were to kill her. She hated hunters. Get a team on his a**, please. Dispose of his body out by the residential district and scare the locals by mutilating it pretty badly. The guard slightly nodded, and escorted the man to a private room, and he gladly went. Idiot.
She took a sip from her glass, and felt Alasdair's presence near as she extended her mental senses only feeling out the auras. It was faint so he must have been upstairs on one of the upper levels. She wondered how he was feeling after the other evening.

It was definite now that Kaei was downstairs, he felt as she sensed his aura. Alasdair grinned as he threw his cigarette out the ledge of the rooftop. He opened the door and began walking down the stairs. He wanted to find Kaei, he wanted to apologize for killing mortals inside of her club, and not controlling his bloodlust was no excuse. He looked around the top floors, but he could not find Kaei.

As Alasdair was walking down the stairs he heard Kaei’s mental message. How stupid of him, Kaei was always either on her office or at the dance floor. In an instant he was standing in front of a big vampire that stood between Alasdair and the door to Kaei’s office.
The guard seemed to know that he was with Rogue because he gave Alasdair a slight smile and opened the door. Alasdair chuckled and bowed his head, entering the room. As soon as he entered he saw Kaei standing in front of a window overlooking the dance floor. He walked over to her and stood behind her. He smiled as he saw her reflection on the glass. She looked stunning with the light of the room. He kept smiling as he stepped closer to her and wrapped his arms around her chest. “I’m sorry about the other night” Alasdair whispered as he kissed her neck softly. “Your great for helping me in the club”.

"Sanguinarian urges. You probably got a good enough taste of it. I have my fits every now and then. I keep try to keep somewhat prepared, in case I, myself seem to have a problem." She put her hand atop his as he was standing behind her. "Having a club is, well, a sense of normalcy maybe. Maybe it keeps me feeling a bit human as well as 'looking' human to those that grow suspicious of us in New York." She watched as humans darted here and there through the crowd, as well as the large swarm on the dance floor.

Alasdair spent the majority of his younger vampire years as a human. He tried to blend in with the humans; he tried to live a normal life. But humans are merciless creatures; those hunters only want to exterminate all immortals. They don’t care if they work for them or not, eventually the humans are jealous of the immortality the vampires enjoy.
“Why would you want to be like that filth my love, if a vampire queen is the sexiest thing ever.” He smiled as he kissed her neck again; he let his head rest on her shoulders. “But it’s true that those damn hunters have the day. That’s why in the old days those dogs were our slaves. We should get one or two of those”. Alasdair smiled at the idea of having a lycan as a guardian again.

"Sometimes I long for the old days, but it only takes enough money in the pocket and most are loyal enough." She took a drag on her cigarette and continued looking out the window.
"There is some beauty in it though. Those that see beauty and long for it...those humans, those are the humans that I respect, that can find beauty, whatever it could be. To find it in this...world." The last word was said in mind as well as in the audible voice.
"You have seen some of my paintings. That is the human part of me that remains, and longs to take control sometimes. Rogue is the thief, and the dark animal. Kaei is, well, my former self...the artist...through all the blood longs to make something beautiful...to create at whatever means possible." She put a hand to the window then, transfixed on the world behind it.

“I thought the human side of me was sucked out by the void centuries ago. I thought I was better off without it. I have learned to look at the beauty in other things.” Alasdair sighed as he kissed her neck once more, this time slower. As if he was reminiscing of other times. He had a family when he was mortal; he had a bright future ahead of him. He had the potential to be a General in the army of king and queen. He was engaged to be married, arranged by his father, to a countess. But all those days were long gone. He thought he was better off looking at life through the eyes of a vampire.
Everything would have been great if Alasdair had not met Kaei. You see Kaei brought back feelings and emotions Alasdair though had died centuries ago. “The only human part of me is the one that loves you.” After Alasdair said he loved her, he could not believe it. How could he say it so bluntly? He did not believe himself capable of love, but Rogue changed him.
