Maia headed downstairs. She looked around for Toby for a moment, then headed to the kitchen to get herself a glass of water. She sipped at it. She didn't know how to dance, she suddenly remembered. She'd never gone, never had the chance to, having lived most of her life in the ocean.

They both heard Maia come downstairs, but she didn't appear. Toby curiously trailed out toward the stairs and heard her moving around in the kitchen. He entered just a step, froze, and smiled.
"Love, you look amazing..."

Maia turned and smiled at him. "So do you," she said, going over to him. "I like this suit," she added, studying him. She set her glass on the counter and leaned up to kiss him. "Ready to go?" she asked.

"Just for you," Toby said and easily wrapped his arms around Maia and kissed her softly. "Mmhm." He took her hand and made to lead her out of the house. "Are you excited?"
Dari watched them go with a smile and waved. Toby gave him a smile.

"I'm excited," she smiled, allowing him to lead her out of the house. She did wave back to Dari, and once they were out, she decided to mention her concerns. "Toby, I don't know how to dance."

"It's alright. It doesn't matter," Toby said. His voice was soft and affectionate. God, he loved her. He opened the passenger's side door so Maia could get in. She was classically gorgeous.

Maia climbed into the car and smiled brightly. So he'd lead then--of course he would, men always led in dances, didn't they? "Are you excited?" she asked, when he got in.

Toby smiled broadly. "I am."
With that said he went around the car and slid in, starting up and heading for a very, very different sort of 'club.' There were still wild anachronisms existing all over this world, and some were closely kept. He had wanted for a long time to check this place out, but it was definitely bring-your-date and not make-a-date. It was classy. It was champagne and wine and suits and ties and evening gowns, and even though Maia had never known this world, maybe she'd get a little glimpse into what his world had been once.
"It will probably be a little intimidating at first? But I don't want you to be scared. It's not like the clubs Dari goes to and nobody's going to be judging us. It's just a bunch of people looking for a classy night out.

Intimidating, alright; but it wouldn't be loud, or filled with shirtless men, and that was definitely a plus. She smiled at Toby. "It'll be fine," she said.
"You'll teach me?" she asked, then. To dance, she didn't want to end up stepping on Toby's feet.

"Of course! Right out there on the dance floor," Toby said. "Besides, a lot of people don't know how to dance anyway. There's nothing wrong with the step-and-sway for slow songs." He'd like to teach her some dances just for her to be able to show off a little bit, but he wasn't worried about what they looked like. It would be just him and Maia as far as he was concerned.

On the dance floor? Oh, learn by doing. "Alright," she smiled. She was a little hesitant to do something she'd never done in front of people, but Toby'd said no one would be judging them. And anyway, her eyes would be on him the entire time.
If they weren't on her feet. "Ready to go inside?" she asked, taking his hand.

Toby nodded. "After you."
He held the door open, allowing Maia to enter the large room of dressed tables, elegant ladies and well-dressed gentlemen. Ages ranged from the early twenties all the way up into the sixties, and there was a live band playing. It seemed a calm and classy atmosphere, but people were chatting and laughing and dancing, and there was activity on the dance floor. Fun was welcome here too.
"What do you want to do first?" Toby asked. The servers traveling around with their drink trays were easy to capture and order from. Toby had always admired their skill in remembering and balancing so many orders.

Maia had to blink. She'd seen things like this in movies, but they were usually of a different era. Wow. It was beautiful. She took his hand and smiled. She only had to take a look around to know what she wanted to do.
"Want to dance?" she asked. "You can teach me."

"There really isn't any teaching," Toby said, "Just dance. Move with the music!" Nobody was doing a particular dance, the music didn't call for it, and there were kids over in the corner just throwing their arms around and laughing.
He began to move to the music and reached out with an arm to twirl Maia.

No teaching? Ah well... She'd give it a shot, then. She was spun, and grinned at Toby. "This is like, being back in time," she said. With the person she loved most. This place was beautiful.
