Nah its actually heated up particles coming off of the Gundam. The system it uses exhausts alot of heat. It was radiator fins on the shoulders but when the doesn't cut it, the outer particles of the Gundam come off and give off a visual effect of an afterimage with mass.
mwhahaha!! sorry didn't mean to mislead but it was fun to. mrgreen

all of them do. its like they get right into the battle and it looks like they have taken a shower. i mean not even 5 minutes and it looks like they are in an oven

think of it as skin. You know how dust is dead skin particles right? Well the afterimage effect is made in almost the same way. The usage of the systems produces the heat, and if the Gundam cannot cool itself enough with just the radiator fins, then the suit begins to shed the first thin layer of particles of the mobile suit. As far is the information goes, there is a fail safe system to where the suit will not pass a certain degree of heat due to the danger it would pose to the pilot, so it would shed enough to break.
........not too much but much too much.

but the move must be made to be a one hit kill because if the person doesnt kill all his enemies in that one shot then hes most likely going to die
