Heaving the sacks over her, as best as she could, Leana figured it was just about time to go find Merro and the others. But how? If they were already inside their room, then she'd never find them. But she had to look...knock on the doors even just to see.

She headed up the stairs and immediately felt relieved. She'd spotted Letalus and Sentelle in the hall. Perhaps they knew where Merro was.

But from the looks of their conversation, they weren't chatting about something cheerful. She didn't want to interrupt, but Merro would need these rabbits and chickens soon.

Gathering her strengths, she walked up to them slowy.

"Um...I hate to interrupt, but where's Merro's room? I need to give these to her before someone else eats them."

Tomlin could hear some conversation going on, but he couldn't quite make out every detail. The door, as far as he could tell, had been slammed in Letalus' face. Tomlin scratched his head, then resigned himself to finish up his cleaning.

Once done, he shook his head. The tiredness of the day had yet to fully drain him, and he had yet to finish his nightly rituals. Pulling a circular target from inside the bag he held, he flipped open his coat. Placing the target in front of the door, Tomlin hung his coat flaps out on the rafters. He then, pulling himself up, hung upside down.

The steady wail of knives on a target echoed through the hallway outside his room, as if someone was chopping at small bit of wood.

---------------------------

"Father!~" asked a young lad. He looked to be in his early teens.

"Yes son?" replied a man looking to be in his late 30's. He ran a calloused hand through his long, black hair.

"I've made a new trick for the show, would ye like to see?" he asked, pulling on the man's hand and trying to get his attention.

"Not now son, I'm busy.." he said, his attention averting back to a table that sat in the tent. It lay full of documents, most of which had a seal from the city on them.

"But look, it really is neat." the boy replied, pulling out a few knives that had been given to him by his father. "I pick a target, and then as I go to throw, I do a flip." he said, pantomiming the movement with a fake kick and a look of surprise on his face.

"That's very interesting son. Tell you what, you and I can go spend some time practicing our tumbles...but first, I have to finish this paperwork. Otherwise, we'll have to deal with that grouch again. You know who I'm talking about, yes?" he said with a grin, imitating pulling on a long mustache and then widening his eyes a bit. The effect gave the older man a haunting look.

"That wrinkly old coot, eh Dad? Is he ever going to let us be?" he asked, kicking the dirt a bit. "All he wants is our talent, and the money for himself. He doesn't care about us..." he said as he threw one of the knives at a large log that sat neatly in the stack next to a small furnace. A TH-HINK could be heard as the knife stuck into the log as if it were a loaf of bread on a cutting board.

"I know son, but we've not had anyone come see us for some time. He's promising to take us around... and maybe even get a couple of acts together and start a circus. Wouldn't that be fun?" he implored, standing up from the chair he had been sitting in. He walked over to the log, and prying back and forth a bit, pulled out the knife from the log.

"I guess...but I don't like him. He's shifty, and I don't think doing this will come of any good..." said the boy, reaching his hand out for the knife.

"Perhaps, but we won't have any choice soon, son." he said as he handed the knife back to the boy. He hugged him briefly, then kneeled down. "Things will get better.... I promise."

---------------------------

But they didn't, did they? Tomlin recalled to himself as he flipped down off of the rafters.

OOC: Tomlin has a Bag of Holding. He's likely to pull quite a bit of things from it XD

After Leana had left with her cargo of livestock, Korix meandered his way toward the man behind the desk. "Excuse me good sir," Korix said acting cheerful, "I would like to aquire a room upstairs if any are available."

"Of course," The man said turning to face Korix, "we have..." When the man saw who his customer was he glared angrily. "We have several rooms available. For you... five times the normal rate."

"What... why!?" Korix demanded, acting more hurt than angry.

"Why!?" The man shot back sarcastically. "Just look at what you've done. That little fight you brought in here with you chased off five rooms full of paying customers. Apparently they reconsidered their accomodations. You want a room - you pay for all five of them. Otherwise take your chances out on the street!"

So unfair Korix thought as he dug through his pockets for the coins to pay for his room(s).

As Letalus peered down at Sentelle she decided that she would indeed prefer a good cry, in the middle of the hall even, to his company and a discussion that she now realized was something better left for when she was more alert. Pulling her knees to her chest Sentelle lowered her forehead to rest against them and resume her crying.

Leana's words barely registering Sentelle shifted so that her torso now pressed against her legs and her arms hugged her ankles. Thus allowing the girl entrance to the room behind her with out the potential hazard of herself falling into the room as the door opened.

Leana paused for a second, noting that Sentelle looked quite distraught, but went ahead inside.

She was oh so grateful to put down those sacks finally, but did so quietly. She'd caught a glimpse of Merro from the corner of her eye, and turned to smile at her.

"Got the chickens for you, and Nova fetched the rabbits but I brought them up for her. Although I don't think you need them just yet..." she said with a giggle. "You've had quite a flow of energy eh?"

Being part ferret had it's perks that was for sure. With all the action that had occurred in and out of this room in the past moments of time, she was still sound asleep, having shifted on to her back maintaining the same donut shape she was curled up in by Merro.

OOC: Hee hee, yessss, I will corrupt you all with adorably cute imagery that resemble Nova's actions XD Bwahahahaha~<3

Ordering her face into a mask of calmness, she turned to welcome Sentelle back into the room but found Leana instead. Meeting the girl's smile with a faint one of her own, she nodded and replied,

"I thank you, and you are correct; I've no longer any need of them, at least for tonight. We might as well keep them, however. If nothing else they'll supply us with some meat for the journey." One thing she could still take comfort in. There had been reason and opportunity aplenty for Letalus to decide to simply take her back to her father, but he seemed willing to stand by his promise to take her first to the temple. For now, she could busy herself with the journey and hope that escape would present itself to her before long. With these hopeful thoughts, she spoke to Leana once more, keeping her voice low so as not to wake Nova. Merro wasn't familiar with ferrets, after all.

"You seemed familiar with Parnell. Do you know where I might best purchase some small supplies such as wineskins and a tinderbox? I don't know if Letalus has supplies for a journey as long as we intend to make now, and I would rather not be caught between towns without warmth or anything to drink."

Why were women so complicated? Why couldn't they simply just say what they meant and be done with it? Sentelle was a complicated thorn in his side during the best of times and now, weeping at his feet, she was downright alien to Letalus. But sensing that there was an underlying problem rearing it's head, he decided it was better to deal with whatever the paladin wanted while Merro was safe and obedient.

Wordlessly, he leaned down and grasped Sentelle by her arm, hauling her up roughly and dragging her to his room. He pushed her inside, steadying her so that she wouldn't simply crumple to the floor and lowered his face slightly, towering over her. "What is it, woman? What doesn't Merro know?"

Korix went up to his room and used the key the inn keper had given him to open the door. He looked around. This room was sparse, with just the bare necessities: a bed, a small round wooden table with two wooden stools, and a bedpan only partially hidden beneath the wooden bedframe. The bed matress looked lumpy, and the quills of feathers poked out in places. Korix immediately got the impression that his fee for five rooms had bought him the cheapest room in the establishment. Korix had ordered a whole chicken with giblits to be brought to his room for both him and his famished familiar. While he waited for that he decided to examine the as of yet unclaimed bag of loot that he had taken away from the bandits. He was curious about it, and thought he might keep a few of the coins for his own efforts. He decided against pouring the contents out on the table. Instead he pulled back his bed cover and emptied the pouch on the rough matress. If the servant, or anyone else, came by he could quickly cover the pile up again with the blanket. The lumps would be completely inconspicuous on the already lumpy bed.

There were the expected coins of course, though none of them looked especially valuable. There were also various jewelry items such as a ring set with a small gemstone, a pearl necklace, and a pair of ivory rimmed spectacles. Then there was a medium sized black orb. Korix thought it looked like it could be some sort of scrying device. The thought of someone looking at him unnerved him so he hurried and stuck that item under the stained pillow. Korix would need to confirm his suspicions in the morning. He remembered the mage, Demi, who had been injured in the fight. Maybe if she would me more certain of its identity and purpose. Korix wondered if she would be up to talking in the morning, or willing to speak to him at all.

As Letalus grasped her arm Sentelle was, quite literally, painfully aware that he would not now allow her to put off the discussion. Somehow just blurting out 'She doesn't know you're a golem,' seemed to her the wrong approach. Her mind raced how in the world could she breach the subject tactfully?

As Letalus steadied her before him a vision flashed in her mind of a marking where, were Letalus human, his heart would be. Sentelle held her hand above his chest where the mark should be, in celestial she spoke: "Let this now be brought to light." Nothing happened.

Sentelle looked up and plead,"Letalus, I'm drained." her head felt light. "This isn't working." the room seemed to spin. "Can we please discuss this in the mor...?" she fell against Letalus.

As Sentelle's cheek pressed against his chest, Letalus gasped at the energy and memory that flooded through him. His head flew back, eyes wide and glowing a bright white as the celestial magic coursing in his soul resonated with the proximity of the holy woman. Centuries ago, a woman in layers of cloth and veils, her eyes unnaturally bright...a porcelain pale hand pressed against his chest as he raised his hands to sever her head from her shoulders...she spoke in a tongue too ancient to comprehend with a voice too musical to be human...and suddenly, all the pain and anguish he had caused, the destruction he had wreaked, a reflection of the demon legends claimed he was...

Letalus exhaled in a rush, pushing Sentelle violently away from him, desperate to remove himself from her touch and the memories therein. Bowled over, he hissed at the rune that glowed on his chest, a symbol of his curse and his undoing. Even as it faded, he was blind with rage, at Sentelle, at the ancient priestess, at his creator and mostly at himself.

"That was a mistake," he hissed through bared teeth, the glow from the symbol on his chest and in his eyes fading completely. He stepped towards Sentelle, picking up his own sword from the table on his way. It was clear now what she wanted to say: she was just like the priestess. She knew what he was.

That was a problem.

He lifted his blade to slice the woman into as many ribbons as necessary...

From a dead sleep, Nova's eyes snapped open. She lifted her head up and glanced around the room, granted it was now her first time to see the establishment this evening. What an odd feeling that was just now; she had never felt anything like it before. It felt warm, yet alarmingly sharp in the depths of her mind.

As her dark orbs scanned the room, she saw Leana and Merro as they conversed and nothing more that could be considered "abnormal".

Chalking her feeling up to having a belly full of rabbit and a bad dream, she yawned and nestled her head back to where it was resting before. Amusing that a ferret can sleep so deep, awaken as if they were fully alert, and then back to it's comatose state.

Leana thought for a moment, completely oblivious to Nova's actions a moment before.

"Well...I've seen a few shops around town that I think may sell such stuff...but I'm not entirely sure. I don't use the shops much...er, here...anyway...heh..."

She wasn't about to blurt out that usually she stole stuff rather than buy it...since she could sense that Merro seemed a bit more proper than to stoop to the level of stealing. Leana had, however, been inside shops during the day to see what she could return to steal at night.

"I'm sure we can easily find a few shops that sell what we need." she replied with a smile and a wink.

Having had the bed in her line of sight, Merro's attention was momentarily caught, but by the time she glanced over the ferret had already settled back down into a cozy pile. She listened to Leana's somewhat uncertain reply and then blinked as she was winked at. In her experience, those had only been accompanied by lewd jokes from disgusting old men who liked to speak to her too familiarly for comfort. Amused despite herself at this roguish girl's easy manner, she smiled back.

"I hope so," she said by way of response, and then she realized something. "You said 'we'? Are you in need of supplies for yourself as well?" Another thought struck her suddenly.

"Where were you bound, if I may ask, when you joined us?" And when Merro carried you off without permission. And hasn't apologized for it yet. And probably never will think to.

Coupled with the lack of divine support the fatigue that washed over Sentelle now was more than she could be woken from. Always before she had secreted herself away to mourn her loss in private. Never before had she realized the complete withdrawal of her deity's strength as she found herself questioning Avery's death, and why his resurrection had not been allowed. Questioning herself, and her faith as she ached for wont of Avery's comforting embrace.

The force of Letalus' thrust sent her flying, but rather than thudding to the ground she was caught and set gently upon the floor. Unbeknownst to Sentelle those times she pined so for Avery he was sent to her, to comfort and guard her as her god could not.

As Letalus took his first step toward Sentelle Avery stood between the two, sword at the ready. His intercession tying him fully to the mortal plane Avery appeared before Letalus, as their swords locked. Appearing much as he had in life, a slight translucence, and a soft glow the only indication that he no longer resided among mortals. Glowering at Letalus he stated calmly, but firmly, "You shall not harm her!"
