"Careful, Ayx, a creature is the most dangerous when you view it as weak." Ora smiled lightly. "However, your assistance is welcome. I have much to plan for, and much to accomplish. Have you ever thought to battle a god?"
"Battle a god? No, not really. However, it occurs to me that 'Battling a god' carries the same ring as 'Committing Suicide'. Which is somthing I hear most humans try to avoid."

"Mhmm, it is akin to that, I suppose." Ora folded her arms and overlooked the city. "Most humans would avoid it, but I'm not sane enough to be human, or powerful enough to be immortal. If you intend to follow after me, you'll find I am truly as mad as my father, if not more so."

"Madness, I understand. I bear your father's madness, as well as McKinnly's. However, madness matters little. Do you posess enough power make such a thing possible, or is this just a polite way to say you want to pass on from this world?"

"I don't posess the power to defeat him, but I can arrange for it. And that is power in itself, no?"

"After a fashion."

"Arranging and breaking the chains of fate is what I do best, Ayx. I make possibilities happen." She paused. "We'll need my father for this, any ideas to persuade him?"

"Couldn't you always use travel to go bother 'em about it?" Ruby asked as she took the bottle and moved it back to its drawer. She swiped a second chocolate then crawled back to the top of the futon, taking his head gently on her lap. She bit the chocolate in half and offered him the other piece. "I remember when you first walked into the kitchen, back in the day. I woulda never thought it'd end up like this, never though I'd want someone so badly, but then again I never thought I'd get knocked up either." She chuckled softly as she continued to stare into Arch's eyes. "You know, Gran woulda liked you, even though you ain't as holy as she thought, she still woulda really liked you."

"The only reason your father ever held power is because your mother never used him to have for herself. If you can convince your mother, Xeen will come gladly. He cannot deny her, least of all if it concerns you. Father's love and what have you, no matter how many layers of psychosis it is buried under, is still there." Ayx replied, turning his gaze towards her.

"Then my mother must be convinced first, I suppose that's easy enough. As for father's love, I've never truly believed in a natural love, least of all in my family. If it's there, I will be more than a bit surprised." Ora's dark hair rustled in the breeze, a few strands crossing in front of her face like dark inklines. "I do not expect to come out of this fight alive, Ayx. But I intend to succeed none the less."

"You're good at persuadin', 'sides, if you torture somethin' out of someone in travel, does it really count as somethin' bad? I mean, they ain't necessarily real." Ruby thought about it for a moment, but knew she herself would never really be able to do it. Once a person said "ouch" she'd break down and apologize. "You thought you'd try an' get into my pants, is what you thought, sug." Ruby chuckled. "Horny bloke, you were." Ruby brushed her fingers through his hair. "Sug, Gran mighta thought she'd like the holy bloke better, but she'd only like a holy bloke because she thought he'd be more like to be a good man. I don't know any holy blokes who are a better man, than you, feathers. Though Gran woulda darn well shot you if she heard you swearin' like you do, an' you'd get some fine lectures about bein' drunk, an' carryin' on a life of immorality. But deep down she woulda still loved you."

"Course you do, ain't rightly anyone who could not like you."

Ruby's face fell as if she had just been presented with the world's greatest tragedy. "I suppose, I mean 'course, if you're too tired an' all, you should be gettin' your rest." Her gray eyes started watering up a tiny bit.

Ruby's face lit up again, a smile spreading across her lips. She leaned down and gave him a soft kiss on the forehead. She kept her face close to his for a moment, her eyes aligned with his, as she stared into the color, the texture, and the expression. "I kept lookin' for your eyes in other people's faces, sugar. Whenever I met someone new I caught myself starin, an' wonderin' if maybe that was the color, maybe that was the shape, or maybe that was the way they moved, or maybe that's the way they stared back." She chuckled, and kissed the bridge of his nose. "I never found 'em, none of them ever felt right, not like the real ones do." She took a moment and paused. "Arch, do you regret lettin' me see them at all?"
