THUNK

Simple enough to take the lizard out. The blades buried themselves into the lizard's upper back, piercing through the lungs from behind. With a strangled roar that was a mixture of pain and fury, the Lizard went down. On top of that, Ruuvan's weight was heading forwards and on the downwards part of his impromptu arc- and he landed square on the warrior's lower back with his legs.

As the creature was driven into the ground, it was most definitely done for... unless, of course, it would fight on until there was nothing left in him. So then, it drove the blades into the ground and used them as anchors... before wrapping its back legs around Ruuvan's midsection and extending them forcefully backwards, trying to free the elf from its back.

And so the Lizard went down, hard to say the least, but it apparently wasn't done for as its legs wrapped around Ruuvan's midsection and proceeded to throw him backwards in some strange 'get off me' leg throw.

With the legs feeling quite limp around his midsection, though strong enough to maintain a grip and commence the throw, Ruuvan allowed himself to be carried backwards. As he entered a kind of freefall mode, before he hit the ground with the beast's legs still around him, Ruu quickly drew one throwing knife from each of his hip sheaths and gripped them firmly in his hands. Once he had connected the ground, his back taking the force of the landing and knocking a bit of wind out of him, Ruu thrust down with both of the knives towards the creature's legs, aiming the powerful stabs for the back of the knees in an attempt to stop further us of its legs and make finishing it all the more easier, unless this attack did finish it, in which case it would be easier.

The blood vessels and nerve receptors in the back of the knees, the crook of the elbows, and the shoulders were why the joints were such crucial targets. A knife strike or successful cut could make the legs irreparably crippled, not to mention cause a lot of pain.

Which is exactly what happened. The technique worked, but at the cost of his mobility. With another strangled roar that quickly expended its air supply, its body spasmed in pain and anguish.

Utterly defeated... soon after, it stilled. Breathing stopped, eyes still open and shining in the lights, the mad, malicious glint still peering at the ones before it.

Dead.

Um, Vahn dear... being polite usualy works better with such noble beings as dragons.... sweatdrop *hono was actualy tempted to get a little distance between herself and Kas, seeing as how he was the one trying to antagonise the beast.*

Hugin the Raven
Dead.

::Yes well, we have to be sure right?

A cautious little child with a sword entirely too big for him, crept up behind the glaring badass that was Ruuvan. It was in the same sort of manner you might see a kid creeping up on one of the costumed characters in Disney World. Sure, Ruu was cool before...but now...well damn.

Granted, the kid was no slouch, he managed to get a good swing on 3 of them. But it wasnt a flaming badass whirling dervish of blades and bloody death. During the fight, those elven ears probably heard the word "COOL!", shouted from the sidelines.

But now...it was dead. Right? Wrong? Who knows, the kid crept up behind Ruuvans leg and poked the dead body with his 5ft sword. Not stabby stabby, just a poke, he would have used a stick, but there was none around...was it dead? Was it really, really dead?::

Claire whistled at the sight before them. Damn, but he was fast!

She somehow remembered being that fast as well... but from where? And why did seeing him fight suddenly get her excited? She shook her head and began clapping her hands, applauding the performance he had put on for them.

"Wow, that was awesome. Remind me to come with you guys more often. But we don't have time to waste- let's get moving before we have more company, hmm?"

This time though, instead of pressing forward, she waited until everyone was ready. No longer so anxious to move ahead and find what she was seeking, she wanted to stay with these rather interesting people a bit longer. Besides, they might need a runologist to help them along through the rest of this perilous maze.

Seconds turned to minutes, minutes turned to hours and within the time he had gone into his mediatative state, the world around Brass pressed on and within time, he woke without so much as a yawn. The time had come for them to get a move on. His body felt renewed and his mind clear, something he would not normally expereince had he just fallen asleep like his friend who was out cold on the couch. His form floated back to the floor where he landed with the smallest sound of thud. He soon got to his feet and let off a small burst of excess divine energy to had grown since he slipp into that sleep-like state. He slipped up the slevee of his cloak and checked his wristwatch. Yep, it was time.

He walked up behind the couch his 'friend' laid on and clapped his hands, rather loudly, twice and called out. "Alright! Let's get to moving!"

Ruuvan

Once the legs around his waist went completely limp and the creature let another strangled roar free, Ruuvan knew it was dead and they could finally get moving again. He was also aware of D sneaking up on the body and then poking it, making him smile slightly.
"It's dead." Two simple words said to both Claire and D as the Ranger pulled the legs from around him and started to stand, shoving the body to the side with his feet as he did, "Let's keep on moving." For someone who had just been attacked by six Lizardmen and came out on top, Ruuvan was surprisingly calm and collected about the whole thing, his eyes showing what his voice disguised, but he was ready to continue and face the Guardian nonetheless, "Lead on, D."

She nodded, and once everyone had gathered, she patted D's head and nodded. "Let's get moving."

A few more twists and turns, deeper and deeper into the labrinth. It simply seemed endless... unless that was the plan. The next trap was, perhaps, an endless network of hallways, winding and twisting. But soon enough, they came to another fork in the path. This fork was quite interesting... because the ruby shone as they faced the left... then the right. Due to the fact that this was the second-to-last chamber, it would prove useful to take a look at their surroundings.

The runes on the walls helped a bit...

"All wisdom and decicive action, gather here. For one cannot pass further without aid of them, or companions. Venture further by acting as one, or pass no further. Two gates, one point of entry. Discern carefully, or enter not this hall of the brave."

So then... the only question was what the deal was with these doors at the end of the hallways. There seemed to be no trap or trick about them- nothing to press or step on, besides something next to the door. A rune imbedded in one of the stones- one to the left side of the hallway at the right door, and one at the right side of the hallway to the left door.

Both were in the same position, and the same stone as the adjacent one on the other side. This was the switch... now then, how to activate it?

Halycanos blinked, looked around, yawned and took a gander for his clock. 8:15. Enough time to gather water and food. Doing one of those weird wake up instant things, Helycanos pulled himself together, and sprang up, looking back to Brass. "Get your things together. I'll get food and water. Tell me if you want anything special." And with that, his semi concious self busted off to the kitchen, grabbing two five gallon jugs. Heavy as hell, but on a little equal weight, they're a sinch.

He filled the jugs with fresh drinking water, knowing damned well he'd have to come back with twice this amount. Living alone is hard, after all. He also packed lots of Granola and Beef Jerky. Good, because it'll keep you going. Once food for two was finished, he turned right around and went to his room, packing up no clothes, but some very large glass bricks. Stones, possibly ten pounds each. With a power like his, maybe he's smart enough to make a lucrative business out of it.

Wait...what? N-no! No, it's alright, Tijae...We're safe, for now.

"He's stuck..." Sun walked forward a little, hand now slipping from Vahn's arm reluctantly, eye not leaving the giant one in front of him. "I don't think you have to worry, just yet, Hono..."

A few more steps, more like shuffles, closer to the ladder.

"We don't have time for old battles, Vahn..." His eyes turned back to the fuming man.

More tunnels and following the stone had brought them to this chamber, simple in appearance but holding the most difficult challenge: A test of brains instead of brawn. Once Claire had finished translating the stones, albeit another riddle Ruuvan would try to figure out, he moved towards the rune inbetween the doors and trailed his fingers over the marking.
"Does this one mean anything?" He then proceeded to press down on said rune in order to see if it was a pressure pad of sorts, or gave any hint that it had anything to do with getting past this challenge.

:: D had it! Or at least he wanted to think he had it.::

Pwess bof of dem at the same time!

::Ruu was pressing one, like an eager little puppy he ran forward and jumped up slapping his open palm right into the other one. There was even a loud audible "slap", as his hand impacted it. He probably should have been ready for something to go wrong...but the only thing he had going for him was luck.::

It slid inward... there was a click....

And nothing happened. Claire heard the lock turning and failing, and nodded. There was probably one on his side as well- which meant they had to act as one, just as the riddle said. "D's right! Ruu, when I count to three, press your stone inward!"

She placed her left hand on the stone where the rune was and began counting...

"One... two..."

Before she counted three, her hand tensed slightly...

"Three!"

And she pushed forward with only the heel of her hand. The stone slid inward sharply, making the locks within click and turn. She just hoped that Ruuvan got the hint!
