Zach nodded, letting go of her shoulder and swaying on the spot. Too true. They didn't understand whatever it was that had to be understood to appreciate what they had now. Was the room spinning? Or was that just him?

It occurred to him he hadn't asked an important question of the girl in front of him. "Whasss yer animal?"

Bia Grey was not a creative person- nor was she one who necessarily found herself the life of a party. However, dressed as she was, she made her way into the Halloween celebrations with minimal reservations. The assemblage was frightening- that she would allow herself to admit. Their animal faces and features were heightened, even mocked by the addition of insane costumes and baubles that dripped off fur and muzzles as if there were no end to the manic insanity that surrounded her. But in some way, it was all comforting. Weren't these 'her people', now? She was one of them- even if someone found out her secret, would they, could they ever turn her away? Not like this. Regardless of her past, now she had crossed the divide- that thick, DNA-laden line of 'us', and 'them.'

She wore a long greenish-grey tube dress- something that had actually been a part of her wardrobe before her requisition frenzy. But the green flip flops and the green cap over her mess of hair were both from the labs- and the dictionary tucked under her arm was borrowed from the community center. She wore a pair of reading glasses tucked up onto the green skull cap- and felt a little foolish with the stub of her tail pushing out the dress in the back... but even with the permanent change, she couldn't bear cutting a hole in one of her favorite dresses. Even to complete her 'bookworm' outfit.

Ambrose tapped a long claw on the table as he listened to Richard's heated rant.

Finally, afer listening to both of them say their peace, he spoke up again. "Don't blame yourself, Pyroth... from what I have heard from those who were there, she went truly mad, and very suddenly. There must have been... something that went wrong beyond conscious decisisions.. "

Of course, that undermined what he had told Richard not very long ago. Which was it? Powerful self control that could hold the beast at bay? Smart choices on which battles to not even fight versus the ones that mattered? Or were some serums fated to fail from day one?

He grimaced as his mind continued down paths that weren't pleasant. If he was one of Sabin's 'special' projects... what fate did that promise the elderly gentleman? Zach had attacked Aubrey in a fit of madness, and he was the other project.... of course, if the red demon at the party was the same Zach, then perhaps hope wasn't lost and even some madnesses could be repressed or fought.

Regardless... this was not a conversation that Ambrose wished to be having. And Richard seemed to have settled down. Glancing back to where Angelina was sitting at a far table, Ambrose rose to his feet again with a charitable smile to his two companions. "I ... hate to go, but I don't want to keep the lady waiting. I'm glad that you are feeling better, Richard.... and I wish you luck with your projects. Pyroth - it was a pleasure seeing you again in good health."

Then with a small wave, Ambrose wandered off to see how Angelina was doing.
((And I'm out for a bit - staring at the computer too long <3 ))

Rex eyed the candy on the table with a lick of his lips and nearly reached for a chocolate morsel before deciding it wouldn't settle well with him. He actually hadn't had any sweets he could think of since his arrival on the island, and you be honest, he didn't really care. Sweets weren't his favorite anyways.

He enjoyed her company and the alcohol-induced daze make him sit rather still for a moment before he shot a few glances around the room. The crowd of people pulsated and hummed with the murmur of small talk backed up by the blaring dance music. It reminded him of nights back home with Julie... No, not the time to think about that. Don't revert back there. Not now. Rex couldn't help that his lost love was on his mind; he purely missed her.

But this night wasn't about thinking about the past. It was about building better relationships and having a generally good time. And that was what he'd do! So Rex turned towards Emer and said the first thing that came to his mind, "So your costume... what was it suppose to be? I like it alot better now that-- well, I mean.. I liked it before too.. but.. yeah.." He cut himself off before he could make a fool of himself with another slug of his drink.

"Scheherezade," Emelyn said, answering Thom and showing off what little she had done to complete the costume. In the two days of her self-imposed isolation, she had done as much as she could with what was within her duplex. It had not felt like isolation- not after such a long time in the jungle. Instead, it was like a welcome sojourn from what she'd come to see as her life. Strange, when two nights in a comfortable bed can seem like a grand- if guilty- vacation.

"Basically," she explained, "I just needed something simple... it would have been too much work making something with straps to fit through all the spines- so just a fancy bikini, a veil, and a skirt makes an Arabian princess. But...wait... you said you woke up here?" She held back a laugh- as it was hardly a kind situation, even if the imagery led to the want of an immense bellylaugh.

Ginerva leaned back further on the table. She hadn't really prepared herself to answer questions like this. But, it wouldn't be too difficult to cover up.

"I'm holding out for surprises. I really do love surprises, don't you?
The doctors are very good at that kind of thing, so it seems.
I don't know too much about them, really, who does? I mean, it's not like we get to actually see them much, let alone talk to them."
She smiled. She'd get to talk about Sabin... oh yes.

Pyroth nodded at Ambrose's retreat "Same, nice to see you again." he turned to Richard for a moment, wobbling unsteadily on his feet "I have to excuse myself too I think. I'm not feeling too great, I'm figuring it might be a good idea to go have a good hard look at a toilet bowl." he smirked queasily.

"Nice talking to you again too."

And with that he gave Richard a farewell bow of his head and vanished off in the direction of the bathroom.

"Sheheard...eh..." He wasn't even going to attempt it. The word successfully scrambled whatever coherence he had managed to dredge from the layers of alcohol on his breath. He would've likely had a time pronouncing it when he was sober. While drunk, it was certainly impossible. The explanation did help, however, and he nodded his understanding, taking a moment to admire the costume--just the costume, of course. He could pretend, anyway. "Very nice," he genuinely praised, nodding once more, then chuckled, waving towards the entrance of the tent. "Out there, but yes. I 'aven't been stayin' in my duplex. Woke up near th' tent all decked on in this thing. Bloody 'ard t' walk in, it was. So I trimmed it."

Sid wasn't much for grand entrances. He was more of the slip in and head straight for the bar sort, regardless of the occasion. Unfortunately, pushing an ocotopus in a weatherbeaten wheelchair was bound to draw attention whether he liked it or not.

He'd given his cane to Billy to hold while he pushed. It wasn't easy, but as long as he leaned heavily on the handlebars and was careful about the limping he could make it. He shouldn't have agreed to it, but that's what he got for trying to look capable. The pills he'd taken as a preemptive measure were only just starting to kick in once they entered the tent.

"Try not to get too excited, okay?" he whispered to Billy, even if that was hoping for too much.

His costume wasn't that far removed from what he normally wore, he already had a pair of black jeans that were sloppily altered with scissors to fit around his tail. His hair when loose, was just long enough to brush the scales, which made for an annoying tickling sensation as he walked. The black tanktop showed off the nice t-shirt tan he'd develop, but that couldn't be helped. The sunglasses and jewelry made the outfit... Ozzy Osbourne, as seen on acid.

"Before I... lost it?" Emerwyn giggled a little. Though her speech patterns were highly altered, her voice was still very soft, and her laugh had not lost all of it's purity.
"I wass... a... Celt-Celtic Priestess." She hiccuped. "But now... well... this came with the robes, and I couldn't jusst wear them... as you can ssee."

She sighed and rubbed her temples. She needed to try and clear her mind. She was thinking in ways she wouldn't have normally thought. And she was glad that Rex was there, not frightened of him...

"I'm glad you like it."

Billy responded to Sid with a dim, bearly responsive grunt, his tentacles coiled around the cane in question. In a moment of manic semi-coherency he had come up with his costume from the scraps the fish-man had brought him befor they left, and he thought it was hilarious. In fact, the hilarity the beaten red wig and the lab-coat with holes cut into the chest for his webbing and tentacles to slid through more comfortably had been responcible for the dosage of his seditives that had left him in his current state.

It really wasn't so much the drugs alone that brought the octopus-man to the semi-vegitable state he was in, but a combination of depression, hatred for everything and then the seditives on top of it all. As they entered the festivities, he didn't look up, his head lolling as he fidgeted in his chair, "Where's... m'smokes...?" He mumbled bleerily.

For the first time, Emelyn smelled something on Thom's breath- that heady, sweet sickness of someone who has enjoyed their fair share of alcohol. She smiled again, although now with a sense of care. "So how are you feeling, Thom?" She put her hand over on the table's edge- as if to suggest that she was the one needing support, rather than him.

He quirked a brow, frowning faintly. What had just happened? "I feel fine. Per'aps...drank a little more than neces'ry, but could be worse, eh? No poundin' 'eadache, not even feeling remotely ill. Just a little...muddle." He shrugged, sitting on the edge of the table. "Can't tolerate a night in a dress sober, now can I?"

"People will complain," Sid said. He didn't let that stop him. He withdrew a crumpled packet of cigarettes from his pocket, and after a bit of digging he remembered the matches were in the one opposite for some reason. He handed both to Billy and took the opportunity the see who was about.

"Where do you want to go?" he asked, still looking around.

It wasn't that he planned on parking Billy somewhere and leaving him, that would be terrible. He was, however, considering leaving him just long enough to get a few drinks in.

Richard nodded when his two compainions begged off to leave. He looked disappointed. "Sure, see you around then." He smiled at them until they were gone, then sank rather glumly into his chair. Damn memorial wasn't going to make him any friends but then he had accepted that already. There was a pang in his heart for Eric, she could have motivated the entire island to build it in a day and touch the hearts of even the staff, he was sure.

He rather glumly swirled the ice in his glass and looked out over the party, noting the new arrivals. Maybe one would come and say hi.
