It really was very cold outside. Shivering delicately, he wrapped both of his arms around the other's pale arm, a slightly sheepish smile on his lips. It felt so cold all around, but so warm when he was near Kai.
He had no thought for who the other might be, appart from the fact that Kai was... Kai. And, at least for the moment, Kai was his.

They had just entered the castle through the side door when Kai was confronted with the stern face of his tutor, and his mood had not gotten any better since he had skipped his lessons.
"So this is the cause of your sudden sickness, is it?" he said a little too calmly to be trusted. "Honestly your Highness, I expected so much more from you. But lying? Neglecting your duties for a girl? This is most unlike you."

Rosaline looked up as they stopped abruptly just as they entered the palace, stopped by the stern face of a man Kai obviously knew well. Slightly confused, Rosaline straightened up, although his arms still remained twined around the other's.
Your... Highness? THen that meant... that Kai - he was a prince of Death? FOr a moment, he was too shocked to take any action. But, after those few moments of stunned motionlessness, his face fell. His face paled, eyes widened and his hands clenched delicately into balls.
He had to escape his curse. He couldn't be happy if he wasn't free. But he couldn't be happy if he was without Kai. It... even just the thought of it hurt too much to ever go through with.
He lowered his head to hide the tears that wanted to form in the corners of his dark eyes. He couldn't cry...! Then the other would know... know that he was no human.
"I... I'm sorry..." he mumbled.

Kai glared angrily at his tutor. Even now his lover was shaking at his side. Making Rosaline cry was unforgiveable.
"Sir, I apologise for lying. WHat I did was out of line, I know." he said through clenched teeth, afraid that he might strike the man at any moment. "But do not speak so rudely to a lady. She is completely innocent."
His tutor frowned with exasperation, but did not give Rosaline a second glance.
"If your father hears of this, it will be my head on the line." he said pacing restlessly."And just be glad it was me that caught you and not one of his servants, and certainly not one of the courtiers." He stopped "What were you thinking?! Bringing her here, in broad daylight! Have you no sense?"

Rosaline bit his lip softly, head still bowed as he tried to prevent those tears, which were trying to form, from falling. Formed and in eyes, they remaiend tears... but the moment they dripped down they would become rose petals.
He raised an ungloved hand to wipe away at the insipient tears with the back of his hand, his other hand clinging convulsively to the other.

Kai could hardly stand the gentle shivering against him as the seamstress clung to his arm. Instinctively he wrapped a protective arm around the other in the hope that he would calm down.
"It's ok." he whispered softly "There's nothing to be afraid of. I'll protect you. I swear it."
Seeing the the other two embrace so lovingly seemed to melt the old man's heart and the old teacher sighed again in defeat.
"Very well, I never saw the two of you. But please, for all our sakes be more discreet." he said as he turned to leave "And Kai, if you skip my lessons again, I won't be so lenient." and with that he was gone.

He nodded slowly and turned his face in, pressing it gently to the other's chest, his hands raised curl against the material of the other's shirt.
He couldn't leave the other now - not even with knowledge of the curse. Not now that he knew just how afraid he was of losing Kai. Without the dark haired prince there to be kind to him and love him... how could he possibly be whole?
And then the most painful thought of all struck him. Kai's love was not his own. It was induced - created superficially by a curse created over a century ago. He burried his face furhter in the other's chest, this time the tears comming easily.
After a few moments, he calmed himself and forced the tears down. His hand brushed up in the pretense of wiping the remaining tears away, but in truth merely took the rose petals and stuffed them in his pocket quickly so that Kai would not see.

Kai gently lifted the other's chin with his hand and was surprised to see that Rosaline's face bore no tear stains. He was confused, but only for a moment as he let his lips slowly brush against the other man's.
"I'm so sorry I got us into this." he whispered, "I'm such an idiot. Let's go somewhere safer where we won't be spotted."

Rosaline nodded, a soft and slightly shaky smile touching his lips. He... couldn't bare the thought of the other's love being merely a result of magic. But neither could he bare the possibility of being away from the other. So he couldn't speak of the curse - not ever.

Kai wondered where they could go without being seen. Of course the safest option was his private quarters but he was afraid his new love would get the wrong impression of him and his intentions. He could not bear the though of her running from him.
He was also confused as to why she had become upset when he had confessed his feelings and how she had been crying but there was no trace of tears.
He also marveled at his own behaviour. Never had he become attached like this. He might have had some explanation for it had he been slightly younger. But his teens had been and gone and here he was behaving like a lovesick child. He was the first to admit that this was nothing like his usual character.
And there had been a trace of magic around their meeting place, he remembered, although he could no longer feel it now. Perhaps this was no chance encounter, but the prince remained silent at this revelation.
They reached his room by now and the young prince blushed slightly as he opened the door.
"I'm very sorry. I couldn't think of anywhere else to go. I hope you won't think any less of me."

Rosaline shook his head slowly, sending curtains of light pink hair cascading down his shoulders and back. "It's fine..." he murmured, although a bright pink tinge had touched his cheeks, as well.
Although there were no traces of tears on his cheeks, his eyes had reddened slightly from the fallen drops. He wiped at them again slightly self-consciously, not wanting to risk any forgotten tears.
They entered the room and, once the door had been closed, he looked up at the other slightly aprehensively, a gentle flush on his cheeks.
"Kai... ahnn... I know it's sudden and I know..." he bit his lip softly, lowering his gaze slightly, "I know we really just met, but... How... how do you feel about me?" It took so much courage to ask that one question. But he had to know. Was the love only a skin-deep enchantment that would wash away with the next one?

Kai stopped in his tracks at the question. How did he feel? he just didn't know anymore.
"A part of me wants to hold you close and never let go. That part of me has fallen so deeply in love with you that it can never go back to the way things were and I can't imagine a life without you." he began "Maybe I'm just naturally cautious but common sense just gets in the way and refuses to believe it, that it all happened too suddenly for it to be real. A part of me feels that this is all too good to be true." he broke off, not wanted to say anymore for h may have ruined everything in the space of one day. He had no idea if that was the right answer to give.

He looked down again and allowed his eyes to flutter to a close, a gentle smile on his lips. He wanted to hear that voice forever - and yet, at the same time, it wasn't enough.
He nodded slowly and quickly glanced back upward. "I... still can't believe that I found you..." he murmured slightly sheepishly, his cheeks a bright red. "But I... I'm so happy that I did. I'm so... so happy...."
He leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss to the other's cheek.

Ruin sighed as he paced the floor of his room. He was tired, but couldn't sleep. His mind was on other things. He brushed several dark locks from his face. He was waiting for a servant to bring him the book he had requested.
