Hotaru decided to head back up to the surface, even if she had just been up there before the sea turtle incident. Once her head broke the surface, she allowed herself to regain some of the breath that she needed. When she had felt she had been up here long enough, she headed back down to where she had been.

Much to Nereid's delight, there was another air pocket further in the cave. Not wanting to waste any air she could get to, she swam up to this one, considerably more carefully as to not bump her head this time and found the whole ordeal considerably more relaxing than she had with the first pocket she'd found. Now, with that taken care of, she could continue on her way with full lungs. How pleasing!

Nereid was quite enjoying her adventure so far. Sea otters, mysterious caves, tiny statuettes and now she'd found an air vent spouting bubbles faster than she ever could. She swirled the bubbles around with her, enjoying her game, before the weight of the statuette reminded why she'd come here. Bubbles were fun, but they weren't quite an adventure by themselves. So, giving a final wave to the air vent, she continued on her way.

Once Hotaru got back down to the trench, it didn't take long for another glitter to catch her attention. Surely she wasn't going to find a third coin in this trip...was she? She swam over to where she saw it and just as she thought, another coin. If nothing else, she would end this trip with quite a collection. She wrapped her tail around the ancient coin and held it securely.

Another air vent came up and Nereid just couldn't help herself. Bubbles were so much fun! She was able to get herself back on track faster this time, but she decided that at this point, any more air vents she found would have to be played in. There was no way around it.

Quite unfortunately, it would appear that sharks liked air vents too, for no sooner had Nereid turned a corner in the cave did she find a shark. It stared her down and she found herself let out a cry, air expelling itself momentarily before she turned, clutching her prize towards her and speeding off. Hopefully she wouldn't see another shark anytime soon!

There were sharks everywhere! Nereid shrieked and coughed, before managing to get away. Her lungs felt like they were constricting. She needed to find an air pocket, fast! Or else she might end up as shark food!

Hotaru decided to head back to the surface for the third time, so she could drop off her latest acquisition. Once she was back up there, she dropped the new coin with the other two. She allowed herself a moment to catch her breath, before she headed back down to the trench.

Score: 8Nereid had decided it was time to high tail it out of the cave and back up to the surface while she still had the chance! So long as she had her pretty souvenir, she didn't want anymore to do with the craziness of the deep. She was just making it to the mouth of the cave when something popped out of her and she yelped, expelling the remaining of her air. She shot out of the cave, speeding towards the surface as she glared at the fish that had spooked her so. Who needed a proper adventure anyway? Not her! Shanty was a savvy sea-fairing Mer. He traveled the sea, typically staying above water as he searched for things to create into his namesake, sea shantys. Yet it was today and only today that he chose to dive down below. However, for the first bit of it, he stayed to the shallows, just to get more comfortable with his notion of diving where he hadn't yet to go before.
Evidently luck was in with him, given that he found a pearl necklace. He quickly donned it and started to think of things that rhymed with pearl. Whirl, swirl, curl... Hmm.

Hotaru managed to easily find her way back to the trench, headed in a direction she hadn't before. She was starting to wonder if there was any further placed this area, cause she hadn't found it yet. As she continued on, she nearly crashed into a...sea turtle. How many of these were down here or was she seriously running into the same one?!? After calming herself down from being taken off guard by it, she allowed herself to admire it for a moment.

As her eyes was on the turtle, Hotaru caught another thing glinting out of the corner of her eye. What was the chances of her finding a fourth coin today, she wondered. She headed over to it and soon discovered it was exactly what she thought it was, another ancient coin! Okay, well, it seemed that today may be her lucky day, least she hoped so. She scooped it up in her tail and held it as tightly as she could, before deciding to continue.

Just as Hotaru is thinking this cavern doesn't end, she spots a place where it drops down, leading deeper under water. Well, now she wondered where it might lead, so she swam down, following where it might go. It isn't long before she saw what looked like a cave, could this be the place she had heard about? There was only one way to know, she headed in that direction.
2 - You find a drop-off leading deeper and spy a cave in the distance! Move on to the next round!
