The fact that the bird had exploded into a mess of s**t just did not help Mercy's temper in the least. Not only was she pissed, but she was now covered in layers of s**t. Instead of calming and celebrating being alive, Mercy simply started hammering the snow. She was tired, she was covered in s**t, her friends were hurt, and she was pissed.
"UGH!!!!!"

(+5 XP) There was a moment of tension that flowed through Misha's petite frame when Brian first wrapped his arms around her from behind but, by the time his lips pressed against the back of her head, she relaxed and sagged a bit in his hold. When he cleared his throat, she made a soft noise of her own in response, very like a sob, caught and smothered before it was fully formed. Then, abruptly, she twisted in his arms and buried her face against the front of his coat, tucking her head beneath his chin. Her own arms wrapped around his waist. She clung to him and shivered. The fight, the pain, the fear... It was all catching up to her and she felt weak and spinning. She wasn't quite crying but it was a near thing. Very near as another strangled, hiccup-y noise worked its way from her throat. It was hard to tell which of them was holding the other one up. Finally, voice thick and wavering, Misha whispered into Brian's chest, "I... We should both get inside. Get fixed up. If you're hurt, then I... I mean, I know I am. Hurt, that is. I want to... I want to check on the others, too." Thinking she hadn't caught their names, thinking that they almost died... All of them, some closer than others.

The bird may have fallen down in the snow, but Zebulon had decided he wasn't done with it yet, if he was even fully aware of the fact that the bird had fallen down. He probably wasn't. His tunnel vision seemed to be fully focused on the fact that this bird needed to never have existed in the first place, and he seemed determined to destroy it with his bare hands. Or at least the shield he was holding. Quote: 41-60: Poisonous Dung: You manage to collect a vial of the vile stuff. It can thrown at an opponent once to poison them, dealing 1 damage for 3 turns. After this it is consumed and leaves your inventory forever.

Beth blinked, eyes slowly adjusting to the movements of people above her. Suddenly she saw a blonde woman stick her face into her field of vision. They say you use less muscles to smile than frown, but Beth could feel everyone of those muscles tense and relax as she tried to sooth her friends. "Cat! Briiva!" She said a little weakly. "I...I'm not feeling too good."It was a toss up between whether she needed to puke, sleep, or just plain be put out of her misery. She had literally never felt worse. Not even hangovers were this bad. "Did we win?"

It was falling.
It was the kind of beast that towered, and Ernst winced as it lowered itself toward the ground. He was embarrassed to find himself scooping up a vial of its blood before he hurried off to find injured Chosen - like maybe Rob. And, uh, himself. Yeah. He did need to recuperate, didn't he.

Briiva was checking over the Feathers sticking out of her friend when she was very nearly bowled over by someone else, who also seemed to be concerned over Beth's well-being. "Whooa s**t-!" She collapsed backwards into the snow, mist puffing up around her. She looked up at the new face, rubbing her head. "She should be fine, looks like she's safe to be moved, the feather are keeping her from bleedin' too much. We'll just need to be careful not to jostle her too much." Briiva steadied herself, gripping Beth's feet and looking up at Beth's friend, waiting on her to start moving. She spared a warm smile for Beth. "Yeah, hon, we won. I think."

Diryas, of course, offered no resistance to being dragged out of harm's way, even as he got thoroughly covered in the bird's blood on the ground. loot roll Diryas's clothing has absorbed enough bird blood to probably fill a vial 61-80: Heart's Blood: You manage to collect a vial of the creature's blood. It can be used once to replenish 3 HP, at which point it is consumed and leaves your inventory forever.

Tara jogged--well, sort of, it was a bit of a limp since one of her legs was slashed up pretty good by the claws of the bird--towards the other Chosen, raising her hand a bit to try and get his attention. "Rob!" She was panting, body covered in cuts and clothes stained with dung, but she was standing. Something more than she could say for some of their fellows--but, by the looks of it most of them were still on their feet.
"Oh gods, are you alright? T-that fall... a-and Sid... Sid got hurt by those feathers, b-but Mercy got her back to the hotel!" She spoke quickly, voice a buzz of information as she tried to update him quickly while also staring at her friend. He looked even worse than she did... "Do you need help walking..?"

There was a feather in his side. Asher realized it dully, as he rose out of his hiding place behind a mountain of brown-stained snow. There was a feather in his side, and it didn't hurt, but it should have hurt, and maybe that should worry him. It stuck out at an odd angle, too large to stick there, too large for this to be real.
He put fingers on it, light, and then immediately went pale. Unwise. Now it hurt.
He looked up at the assembled crowd, celebrating their victory, with a chalky look to his face. Stumbled one step, then righted himself and, shuddering and denying the reality of this situation, started inside.
At least he had the wits not to pull it out.

Sylvia could see two people still attacking the bird with fervor. It didn't matter that the bird was down, they were running on pure emotion and adrenaline at that point. She couldn't really blame them – she could only imagine what they were feeling, and everyone dealt with stressful situations differently. Still, they were just going to wear themselves down, they could hurt themselves if they kept going. Someone needed to stop them.
“Honey,” she stepped to the side of the enraged, but exhausted, woman first. She tried to make sure that she was visible in her peripheral vision and held a hand close to her arm, but didn’t touch her. “Honey, it’s dead. We’ve done what we could, it’s done. Please slow down… You are hurting yourself more than you are hurting it anymore.” She would try to give a reassuring touch if she could, but she didn’t want the attack to turn on her, so she would wait to be acknowledged.

Cat looked to Briiva with a faint smile, "Sorry, I just couldn't stand by ... Briiva right?" She hoped she had heard Beth's faint whisper correctly. Tears pricked her eyes as she looked down to her friend, "Yeah, we won. You're going to be all right ... between Hera and the extra bandages in our packs we'll get you fixed up right as rain." She smoothed Beth's hair back with a delicate hand and lifted her from beneath her arms at Briiva's que and they staggered for what felt like miles towards the safety of the hotel.

Probably they were, was part of the problem. "Sore. I should hurt more, but I don't. I'm hoping it's not adrenaline." If it was adrenaline, it'd wear off and somewhere between their starting point and getting to the hotel, he'd probably fall onto his nose. "Mind if we make a detour a little?" Mal nodded his chin toward Briiva, where she was helping move someone inside. "She was kind enough to make sure I didn't get hurt too bad earlier. It's only good manners to return the favor." He waved at any of the Chosen he knew who were likely to still be talking to him (ugh) and yelled at Mercy in passing. "Give it a rest, sweetheart, it's KFC already!"

When Misha turned and clung to him, he wrapped his arms around her and cradled one against the back of her head. Everyone was breaking down, it seemed, and really he couldn't blame them. This had been amazing, and intense. He was willing to bet that none of them had ever been a part of something like this before.
They simply stood there, leaning against one another, him trying to comfort the sadness out of her and not really knowing how. Finally she spoke again and he released Misha a bit to look down at her.
"Yeah. I'm-- yeah." Everyone was going to need some serious disinfection. "Come on." He kept an arm looped around her for support as he began for the area the wounded had gathered in. He had seen Beth fall, and it hadn't looked good. Hopefully they had already begun working on her and the visual would be less shocking by the time they made it there. He wasn't sure how Misha might fare.
