"May I?"

Aiysin would ask before bending over the wounded leg and inspecting it carefully. Finding several incisions threatening to reopen as the stitches had been shredded she scrunched up her face a sighed.

"Those need to be closed--"

She looks at him and then points to the various piercings.

"What's your pain tolerance like?"

Already she was drawing a small fold of leather from the same pouch the bandages had been produced from. Inside was a small suture kit. As she began unrolling it she answered his question,

"Of Datho? About your former godhood and your realtionship to the man called Henry? Yes, but our data on you is rather incomplete and umm... patchy...."
PostPosted: Sun Mar 25, 2007 3:06 pm

He winced hard, but not at the pain of being looked over.

"Don't say his name too loudly, eh? My father has odd hearing capabilities. As for tolerance...needles are okay, it's losing most of my organs that I have a little trouble dealing with." He grinned, joking to take the sting out of the warning before.

"Former godhood, it makes it sound like I've been castrated. But it's good to know a lots patchy, I don't like people knowing...even secret organizations that are supposed to know."

Aiysin nodded as he warned her, her face unflinching at the slightly biting warning.

"Let me show you something--"

She smiled somewhat secretively as she she stood and moved away from Sunstrike, to the opposite end of the cavern, as she moved further away, the mist that had seemed part of their surroundings, and the fog that had crawled along the cave floor, retracted with her. He might recall at the Stadium too, in that brief moment, the damp chill of mist.

The mist didn't so much as emanate from the woman, as enclose her in a protective radius.

"It's an innate obscurity spell... It obscures sight and sound within the radius, muffling things from being heard or felt by ahh-- eavesdroppers if you will. I developed it as a ward to cover myself while scrying... but it helps in situations like these too ne?"

She was practically glowing with pride as she returned to her seat by his injured leg. She pulls a small vile from her obi and starts shaking it as she replies---

"Heh. Even GUARDIAN has it's limitations... but sshh, don't tell anyone."

She winks and pulls the cork out

He watched the liquid move in blurry little shakes and blinks a few times.

"S'good...coulda used that sort of spell a few times...but I'm a bit magically...well, siphoned, I guess is a good word, divided might be better. I dunno." He was rambling, and while he'd mentioned that needles didn't bother him, he wasn't exactly looking forward to being repaired.

"So is all of GAURDIAN filled with lucious young ladies? Or did I just get exceptionally lucky to get tackled by the prettiest?"

There was something obscure in his eyes. There was a kind of sincerity in the compliments and the teasing, but also a kind of hoplessness that came with old games that were played well, but not often followed through. Like the casual caress, it was used to provoke a responce, not an invitation to bed.

"Heh. S'about all I'm good for to be honest. GUARDIAN has a lot of excellent fighters, but I'm not one of them. I'm a Transporter... and an Observer."

She sighed as she took a piece of gauze, placed it over the top of the vile, and shook it once more, moistening the piece of cloth.

"I can fight, but I'm nothing special... My magicks are fairly limited as well... I have a few very minor elemental abilities, but most of my power lies in Scrying and Dousing, when I'm not Gating."

She glanced at the two spools of thread she had and pondered aloud.

"Do you think dissolvable stitches would uh, dissolve too soon? Those wounds are pretty deep..."

"So is all of GUARDIAN filled with lucious young ladies? Or did I just get exceptionally lucky to get tackled by the prettiest?"

This caused her to look up from her task and whatever she saw in his face, she didn't like. She felt like retorting, GUARDIAN has a lot of beautiful men too, maybe that would be more up your alley-- But she didn't. She was a professional. Aiysin didn't hate Sunstrike, but her admiration for Sierra had made her slightly bitter towards the salamander and she was trying terribly hard not to show it. Did she blame him for what happened to Sierra? If you asked her... she would say no, but truthfully. Yeah... maybe a little. Instead she just snorted and shook her head and waited for a reply on the stitches.

He saw the flash of arrogance and blame. Surprisingly, Sunstrike smiled, leaning back and closing his eyes. Most people react in very different ways to flattery, this one had been annoyed, and slightly insulted, but not taken aback.

She had an attitude kicking around inside of her, and he liked that, it meant he could ease up a little around her without having to worry about drastic side effects.

"I'm sure they'll just end up getting ripped again when I start training, so whatever you have, will be enough for the meantime." He practically leaked warmth and laziness, when Aiysin eventually touched him it would be felt stronger. There was no fire in the cavern, and with night having crept in, it should never have started to grow hotter.

Something internally was relaxing in Sun, and it probably wasn't a good thing. The blood was a fresh smell in the closed area, but mingling and eventually overpowering was the cinnamon that seemed most natural to him. There was a soft sigh, and he could have almost been asleep, if it weren't for the twin orange slits that showed his eyes were still slightly open, watching with flashes of colour.

Sometimes people forgot, just how strange Sun actually was. It wasn't any kind of personal glamour on the man, just a need on others part to make the salamander fit into reality. The natural, and even unnatural, mind couldn't always handle something being so human shaped but essentially not human at all. And while Sunstrike did his best to help minds cope, with the goggles and the baggy clothing, weak moments exposed him for what he was. And what that was, ended up being slightly claustrophobic in closed area's.

But with Aiysin being so stubborn, she would probably be able to cope, at least until she was done stiching him back up.

"I really doubt Sierra would trust anyone that couldn't honestly take care of themselves, and gating isn't exactly what you would call an easy form of magic. More dangerous...then 'porting even, the backlash is more of a b***h if you lose control on one plane. Worse if you move to....others."

Had he meant to admit that last? It seemed even Sun couldn't really concentrate, but that might have been just a testimony to how tired he was.

A fine tremble ran through her hands and she had to close her eyes for a moment, simply breathing and collecting herself. Some small sadistic part of her beckoned her to just stitch him up, who cares if she was a little rough, he deserved a little pain didn't he? Instead, she felt guilty for thinking such a thing, and she inhaled through her nose, exhaling through her mouth in a slow, relaxed, concentrated breath before reopening those strange silvery-mirror like eyes. Managing a smile at the sleepy man.

"Well, when we get where we're going, we'll have a proper healer do something a little more resistant to strain."

Aiysin didn't seem the least bit disturbed by Sunstrike's 'unique' characteristics. Perhaps it was because she was raised in a world of abnormal individuals and so called-monsters... or perhaps it was because she was pre-disposed to information about the salamander that it didn't surprise her to see evidence of it in the flesh.... or perhaps and most likely, it was both.

What did concern her however, was that Sunstrike's energy still bristled about him with a somewhat stifling heat. Aiysin's hand on his leg would be cool and somewhat damp, a small puff of steam rising from the contact.

"Mind if I exert a little climate control in here? S'getting a little steamy."

She grinned, at least she wasn't ENTIRELY a cold fish!~

She would expend a small amount of wind, air and water energies, creating a cooling misty breeze.

Her free hand picked up the fishook-like needle. She wiped it of with the square of gauze, sterilizing it with the antiseptic from the vile before she threaded it carefully, using non disolvable thread. Wiping down the wound, She used one hand to line up the flesh evenly as she swiftly pierced the skin in, out, in out and knotted it together with a neat little stitch. Repeating the process roughly 15 times until all the damaged needlework had been replaced.

"Divine...justice...no healers can spell me, beautiful."

His eyes opened wider and he grinned, watching her discomfort with no little curiosity. Why was this woman so angry at him? Had it been the favour she'd asked? Or was it something deeper.

The cool rush of air made him shiver a little and he looked away. The first few pricks made him shut his eyes again, and it wasn't until she finished that he opened his eyes.

The movement was quick, as if he'd built himself up for it, and suddenly the sewing hand was in his grip, pulling her forwards until the sharp object was level with his chest, forcing her to kneel over both the leg she'd repaired, as well as a good portion of his lower torso.

There was little room for resistence, though she could probably damage him with the needle. His breathing was even and soft as he leaned forwards and looked into her eyes with his own, faces close enough to touch.

"There's something damaging behind your eyes, Aiysin, what have I done to offend you?" The words were just as soft and even as the breath, but it obviously concerned him. If she struggled greatly, he would let her go, until then he'd hold her deep within his personal space until he got some answers.

"Ah... be thankful that Sierra is not a creature of the light, unlike most of her kind. Healing spells and energies tend to affect the princess adversely. Consider it... an allergic reaction to her tainted genetics."

She would shrug as she said it.

"Besides, they don't have to spell you... Just the thread. Make it more du---!!"

She was cut off abruptly as Sunstrike seized her hand. Several choices of reaction flitted through her mind. Did she hook him with the needle and twist the flesh so it tore nerves and vessels alike? Or did she palm strike him in the groin as she caught her balance, using the hand she would fall onto, her other one seized tightly in his grip-- Or she could always plant her entire weight onto his injuries-- There were a lot of offensively, defensive things she could do--
INSTEAD, she caught herself from falling face first into his lap, by catching herself on her left hand as it touched down between his legs. Her right hand clutching the needle tightly, careful not to snag either herself or the man before her... as much as she may have wanted to. Angry eyes met his gaze with a chill so cold that it burned. The voice that answered him however, was deadly in it's softness, like the gentle calm before the storm.

"What happened to Sierra in your suite at the Crimson Hawk?"

She didn't resist or fight him. She simply remained rigid and furious in his grasp.

She was assigned to protect this man, not make more work for the infirmary.

Sunstrike stopped breathing. Even as she said it he could hear the screams from Vahn's own mind. His and hers. Sun been too late again. Too late the first time to save the two from anguish...too late the second because his own doubt was eating him from the inside out.

He pulled her closer, until her fist around the needle actually touched his chest, the heartbeat making dull thuds. Before he'd lost his wings, it would have been a pulse, now it was the actual thing moving against normal ribs and flesh. His cheek brushed his own and he paused before speaking.

How could he explain? How do you rescue people already violated as far as their minds could take? He might have been able to put a wrench in the mechanism, but the machine had already started way before he arrived. All he could do was gather up the pieces afterwards.

"I was too weak, too late. And she changed back. I could not pull her back."

Breath came in a puff that actually stirred her hair lightly as he spoke, and Sun moved back to facing her. He didn't turn away from the mirror eyes, and saw himself reflected seriously in their surface. He looked like hell, but when was that new? There were still times he'd wished his death had gone ahead as planned. But that was running away again, now, wasn't it.

"I wasn't there because," He swallowed and really did look away now, he didn't want to see that kind of pain reflected back at him.

"I didn't feel I was supposed to be."

What she heard in Sun's voice... saw in his eyes, and in his face... was haunting. She -almost- felt bad for asking, but not bad enough-- or she wouldn't have asked any more. But her job wasn't to cauddle him and tell him it wasn't his fault, her job was to find out as much as she could and get to Sierra before there was nothing anyone could do. The detachment of emotion as she asked another question--

"What made her change Sunstrike? She survived Babel and yet, when she seemed to finally be regaining her former self-- everything shattered--"

She moved with astonishing speed now, throwing her body down and up, using centrifugal motion to throw off his balance and grip enough that she'd be able to weaken his arms. While he might still be holding her hand, the left one would move from supporting her, to pinning his wrists against the cavern wall just above his head, her weight carried down through her arms as she snapped accusingly, her face mere inches from his. No longer was she being pulled into his personal space, she was now the one aggressively invading it.

"WHAT MADE HER BREAK?!!"
PostPosted: Mon Mar 26, 2007 3:25 pm

Sunstrike was beginning to wish he'd stayed with the monsters in the stadium. Sure he could use force when someone wasn't prepared, bullying without the brutality to get answers he wouldn't normally get. But this made him blink and retreat a few steps into himself, almost like mentally backing against a wall.

The swirls of his eyes pinpointed and he swallowed, shaking his head slightly as if he were being forced to speak. He didn't want to admit what he saw.

The needle had scratched his face as it was forced upwards, and he didn't fight back, simply stared at her. A line of red moved slowly down his skin, running along his jaw to drop onto his shirt. There was only silence after her shout, but for her heavy breathing.

Truth or lie. There was no purpose to lying, it would be downright detrimental...and yet, there was something in this girls strange eyes, a respect and a love for Sierra...Sun felt broken inside for having to tell this small being that the woman she treasured had been used in such a way.

We all have to grow up sometime.

"He said something to her and that's all he'd tell me. He wouldn't tell me what it was...and I...I didn't ask. You'll have to ask Vahn what he told her that night." His eyes looked haunted, as if he might have been able to guess...

Aiysin looked defeated. Defeated and deflated. She reluctantly released his wrists and sat back on her heels, it was like watching a flower wilt as all the aggression seemed to leave her in one miserable sigh.

It took a lot to push her to that kind of assertion. Aiysin was not a dominant individual. She could give orders and instruction, but she needed someone she could be accountable to-- It was what had stopped her advancement in rank, at Seer instead of reaching out for the rank of Oracle.

She looked at Sun's bleeding cheek and then down at her right hand, the hook had been forced into and through the thin web of skin between the index finger and her thumb, blood leaking from around the puncture.

"Tch."

She shook her head as she reflected for only a moment. Karma had acted swiftly, it was a trivial wound, but she took it as a warning to stay in better control of her emotions. GUARDIAN was badly shaken up at the loss of Sierra, what they had all feared most had come to pass... and if they all faced Ra'kar in such an excitable state, they would be useless against her.

Aiysin wanted to cry, but instead she stared ahead icily.

"I didn't mean to hurt you Sunstrike..."

She couldn't quite bring herself to say it. Sorry... she wasn't entirely sure she was sorry, after all... he had grabbed her. But she hadn't intended him harm, she'd thought about it, but never actually intended to act on those impulses...
PostPosted: Mon Mar 26, 2007 4:04 pm

"Mm...no, I provoked. You had too much going on inside." He took her hand again, more gently this time. If she didn't instantly pull back he'd look at it for a moment, before moving his fingers to small points in her hand, cutting off the blood flow to the wound.

"Ready?" He said it even as he pulled the metal out quickly. It wasn't really a huge amount to block off, but he was cautious. At first it looked like he was just inspecting the wound, but there was a sudden wet feeling as he put his mouth right between her thumb and finger.

There wouldn't be a lot of time to react before a quick flash of heat and pain. He pulled away to leave the hand healed, just a small black scar where he'd cauterized it. If she didn't slap him, he'd plant a teasing kiss on the back of the palm before leaning away again. If she did, he'd probably do the same again.

"I do not know what he said, Aiysin, but I feel the blame rest on me like a burden. The look that was in his eyes when he woke up said what he couldn't. I have divided what fates had originally decided was to be whole." His hands tugged at the bottom of his shirt restlessly.

"But I can not change what I feel, regardless of what my father has said, I believe in the fact that I do have these feelings. This kind of love. Not a master and servant kind of devotion...an equal kind." That was a rather bitter admission, as if being a servant or a pet might have been easier.

She let him look at the hand, one eye scrunching shut at the pressure, he asked if she was--

"Whu?"

That was about how it happened, she had a flicker of a hint that energy was being transfered and before she could react, the magick had already branded her skin. A small black scar, smudging the tanned perfection of delicate hands.

"Th-a-nk ... you?... I think?"

She just kind of stared wide eyed at him as he pressed a kiss to the back if her hand, his lips brushing against her skin in a tickling caress. Well what the ********? She said the first thing that came to her mind...

"You're strange... and I don't mean your turning into a giant magickal amphibian--"

She rubbed her hand absently as she leaned in to look at his cheek. She made an annoyed face, as if she'd been so careless as to mark the individual she'd been sent to guard. UGH-- Kimiho was going to chew her out for this one.

"Lets see if I can't do something about this, don't want you burning your pretty face do we?"

Her newly healed hand, reached back into that massive bow once more, felt around for a second and the produced a small container of ointment.

"S'not magick, but it does the trick--"

She wipes off the cut gently with her sleeve, a soft dabbing as she smudged some of the salve onto her finger tips and then began massaging it into the cut. It would cause the blood to clot almost instantaneously. It would seal the cut, acting as an artificial scab, so that the flesh would heal smooth instead of leaving a raised line. The goop was translucent, so the area only looked a little red from the skin's natural irritation to being sliced up.

She listened to his words as she tended the cut, her breathing quited down now, her breath came slow and steady against his cheek.

"Everything about those two-- They've been tested with one division after another. A princess from another world-- who would have believed it? But not just realities divided them you know?... Ra'kar... Victor... Their own reservations about the prophecy..."

She looked at him, her voice softer and dare she say, friendlier?

"Fate didn't tell them how the parts would be played... just gave them an ending that would be reached. The rest of the story... is theirs to write."

She wasn't very good with making people feel better, but in her own way... she was trying to say, 'it's not entirely your fault...'
