Esther watched C.T., and she was following everything C.T. said, but it just wasn't clicking. Maybe if she felt something, anything, that signaled the presence of a supernatural power within her, she would understand. As it was, though, she felt like she was trying to wrap her head around something that didn't exist. It was frustrating.

"Maybe I should... try to contact my mom?" she said, frowning slightly as she considered all of the ways she could find the answers she was desperately wanting. "My dad's out of the question, obviously. But Mom would probably know something. Or maybe you're right and I need to keep searching for it internally. But I don't even know what I'm looking for. It could be anything."

"I think contacting your mother will help, it's more of a thing that you have to be told, then realize yourself, and if she can possibly give you an idea of the powers you have, it may become easier to access them." C.T said nodding, of course Jacob was out of the question, just thinking of his face made C.T want to punch something, but she kept her own feelings out of the mix for now, this wasn't about her.

"It's really hard for me to tell you what you are looking for, just because I would assume that our powers are very different. When I first learned how to use my abilities, it was only to heal the damage I took during my grooming process, and then they grew from there." C>T said with a shrug. "I say it's pretty unlikely that you have the ability to control your blood. So probably won't work." C.T said thoughtfully. She wished she could be of more help, but she hadn't seen any signs of some extra in Esther either. The girl never came of as anything more than human to her. An amazing human, but still, just human. "I'm just going to ask, but you're sure you've never done anything, or felt anything that couldn't be described by normal means?"

She would have to contact her mom, then. Esther doubted the woman would want anything to do with her at this point--and the feeling would be more or less mutual--but she needed to know. If she did have powers, there was no way she was going to ignore them now.

Esther considered C.T.'s question once more, chewing her lip. "No, not really," she said. And then she remembered an incident--well, it wasn't even an incident. It was a dream. Or so Esther had always thought. Maybe it was something more? She had always been confused by the memory, felt there was a piece she was missing. "When I was little... I remember, I opened my eyes and looked around, and I was in this dim, empty space. Surrounding me were a few panels, not in any particular pattern, of all shapes and sizes, and I could see through them. They showed different angles of my bedroom. And I saw my mom in one of them, and she looked at me, but when she spoke, I didn't hear anything." The more she explained, the more Esther felt convinced that this had indeed been a dream. But it had always felt so real, even now as she recalled it with more criticism than ever before. "She seemed panicked. I don't remember how I got there. I don't remember how I got out, either. I must have... woken up?" Esther shook her head. She was sure she wasn't making any sense.

Panels, that showed different areas of her room.... Not in any particular shape or form, so like fragments? Visions through shattered glass.

The way Esther was describing it, it sounded like she had been moved, and was somehow viewing her room from a different space, through these panels, it made it sound like she was watching her room through these screen from like a control room or something like that. But that wouldn't make sense since she was only a little girl, and her mother had been talking to her, though Esther couldn't hear the words she had said. That supported the different area theory. Even Esther saying she didn't know how she had gotten into the space she had been...

"So when you say empty, do you mean like a unfurnished room? Or do you mean... like a void? And these panels, can you describe them a little more? Were they physical? Or were the images you saw in them, just floating, unhosted by any monitor or device of the such."

"Like a void," Esther said. The memory was becoming more vivid the longer she thought about it. "Except the floor--it was reflective, like I was standing on a mirror or a still lake, and it rippled when I moved. There were no walls or ceilings, and the only light came from the floor and the panels." Esther could remember feeling scared and confused, but knowing, somehow, that this was a place where she was safe. The space had been quiet, serene, and she had been completely alone. It hadn't taken long for the calm to settle in.

"The panels were like windows," she continued. "But some were small, like pin-pricks, others as tall as my full-length mirror. They weren't attached to anything and they floated in midair around me. When I walked around one, there wasn't anything behind it--the window was paper thin--and the back showed the same part of my room as the other side."

(Esther's power is that she can enter and travel through reflective surfaces. When, for example, she enters a mirror, she ends up in this strange dimension where she has access to and can see through all of the reflective surfaces within a certain range. She'll also eventually discover she has control over items that are reflective, too, like shiny metal and shards of glass, but she's not there yet. XD)

"Ok, a void." C.T said, nodding her head letting Esther knew she had received that bit of info, but when Esther began to explain the void to her, the rippling of the floor, she lost C.T again.

But when she described the panels again, describing them as windows. C.T felt that maybe she had an idea, if she were to think of the void as sort of a hub, then that would make the panels. "Like portals?" C.T asked, maybe. "Maybe teleportation?" C.T offered. That would explain how Esther had moved away from her mother, and why she wouldn't be able to hear her mothers words as well, if she was physically in a plain of nonexistence, it would only make sense for her mother to be worried.

(I don't know why it took so long for me to figure it out, I though she was maybe seeing through the eyes of someone else monitoring her room lol. And I feel you've told me this before, probably in pm's)

Esther could tell C.T. was struggling to understand what was being described to her. But she was doing a damn good job trying, and she was listening so patiently, thoughtfully. "Maybe," Esther said, shrugging. She still wasn't so sure the experience had been real, but it was seeming that way more and more, and C.T. appeared to believe the incident had actually happened.

Esther sighed. She was feeling drained and still pretty overwhelmed, but at least she had calmed down. The next few days would be... interesting. She could already tell. But there wasn't much she could do about it right now, which was a shame, because through the identity-shattering confusion shone a little spark of excitement at the prospect of having powers. Esther walked into C.T. and pulled her into an embrace. She buried her face in C.T.'s neck. It wasn't Esther's time to freak out about stuff. This was C.T.'s time--they were with C.T.'s family, whom she hadn't really ever met. Esther would work on her own to figure out what was going on with herself, but until everything else had settled down with C.T., she was going to try not to make it a big deal. Slow and steady.

"I love you," she said quietly. It may have seemed a little random, but she was just so thankful for C.T.'s presence.

(That's a good guess though, haha. Yeah, I think I might have, but I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with Esther yet, so it was probably in passing. I was going to give her something like control over lightning, but I decided that was lame, and Mag's and C.T.'s powers are too cool. XD I'm still trying to decide on limitations and other details. I'm thinking she can't travel through the reflective surface either way if it's immersed in pitch black darkness--so it's not reflecting any light--but I'm not sure that makes sense...)

Esther didn't sound so sure, but that was to be expected really given the circumstances, but C.T. was very interested in the way this was turning out. It may seem a little odd for her to think this way, given that this situation was giving her girlfriend a hard time, but C.T. couldn't help it, it was fascinating. A puzzle that she wanted to crack, not only because of her own personal interest but she felt that one Esther understood her powers, that the girl would be happier.

Though even still, C.T was happy with the way Esther was now, it was that thought that brought a smile to her face as Esther pulled her into a hug that she seemed to need, burying her face into C.T.'s neck. C.T didn't hesitate to return the embrace, wrapping Esther into her protection, she rested her chin on Esther's head keeping her secure. "I love you too." C.T returned, when Esther spoke those three beautiful words. "Let's lay down yea? It's been a long day, we can just relax now." C.T said, pulling Esther with her towards the bed, and bringing the girl down with her. They sat in comfortable silence for a few moments, before C.T decided to speak up, changing the subject.

"So what did you and Kia talk about?"

Esther was more than happy to lay down beside C.T. It was so easy to just be next to her, even without any conversation. She was thankful for the change in subject, as her mind had been wandering quite a bit the longer the silence drew on. "She asked me about us," Esther said, "and what it's like to be attracted to girls. It was... interesting."

"About us? That's a loaded topic." C.T. joked, she couldn't even pretend that her relationship with Esther was normal, though she wouldn't have it any other way. It just made talking about it to others a bit weird, a lot of things could easily be taken out of context. Though some facets could be taken in the right context, and still make things a little awkward. "What did you tell her?" C.T. asked, curious. "I hope you made me sound good, remember I'm trying to assert myself." C.T. reminded, remembering her fight with Kat tomorrow. Bigger, Badder, older sister.

"She wants to know what it's like to be attracted to girls?" C.T. asked, her eyes widening a bit. C.T. wondered if that question come just out of innocent curiosity or if Kia had some inspiration. "Now I really need to know what you told her, you didn't give my sister bad advice did you?"

"Wha--bad advice?! C.T., really!" Esther grinned and pinched C.T.'s side as punishment for her doubts. "I think we both know my understanding of women... in every aspect... is pretty sound." She continued to smile to herself as she set her jokes aside and tried to remember the conversation she and Kat had shared.

"I told her about how you and I started out not liking each other too much, but eventually started opening up to each other about stuff," she explained. "And I told her about how sexuality isn't straightforward and labels are unnecessary." Esther shrugged. That had been, more or less, her first conversation with a kid on the subject, but she felt like she had done a decent job of letting Kia know that whatever she was feeling, it was okay.

"What? It's possible! Ow!" C.T. giggled when Esther pinched her side, "You're going to bully me in my parents home?" C.T. asked feigning offense as Esther proceeded to make a joke, that caused C.T. to cough turning to the side, mostly to cover up her blush. "Maybe you do, but I really hope that wasn't brought up." C.T said with a smile, though she really hoped Esther had kept it PG.

It seemed Esther had. She had told Kia about the early stages which C.T. still wasn't very proud of, she still felt a little guilty for how she had treated Esther, but Esther had forgiven her so she guessed she should be able to let it go. Though the second bit was a strange, the talk of labels and stuff, makes it seem like Esther was guiding Kia through something. "Is she confused about said labels?" C.T asked, rolling onto her side facing Esther.

Esther wasn't sure how Kia felt now. Kia had asked questions more than anything else, and although Esther knew there was definitely something going on (and what that something was), she couldn't tell what the girl had taken from their conversation. "I've probably already told you too much," Esther said. "I don't know what parts of our talk your sister would want to keep private, and I would hate to break her trust. But maybe if you find a way to bring it up, you can talk to her about it yourself. Sister bonding time."

"Hmm," C.T sounded, thinking about her little sister, she didn't really know much outside of the stories and what interaction they had today. She seemed like a very happy girl. "You know, maybe I should feel a little jealous that my sister came to my girlfriend for advice and not me." C.T joked with a grin, before wrapping an arm around Esther and pulling the girl close.

"But I'm not, in fact it makes me kind of happy, I wasn't only afraid that my family wouldn't accept me, I was also afraid that you wouldn't be welcomed either," C.T said, kissing Esther on the cheek. "I tend to think the worst of people, but I am glad to see that I was wrong."

Esther smiled, nestling against C.T. "Yeah, they've been nothing but nice to me. And they're clearly overjoyed to have you back." She glanced around the room and noted how even after so many years, just about everything had been taken care of. The toys looked new, the decorations were clean and put up with care... "How are you taking all of this?" she asked, referring, of course, to C.T.'s reunion with her family.
