Demitri had to hold back the bit of a smirk playing to his face. If there was one thing the girl had learned well it was polite insolence. Regardless this was not about Loa but the young Prince. He reached into his coat and produced a small sack that made a soft jingle. The material was plain and slightly durable but no way to connect it to him. "Contrary to what you may believe I do care about Prince Owen and while I have the utmost respect for the King it is clear that the doctors we are employing are simply not working well. So in this instance I think your actions are correct." He tossed the small sack in her direction rather apathetic as to whether she caught it or it landed on the floor. "Use it for whatever you need. Payment, supplies, information. Just make sure you choose whomever it is wisely. I don't want harm to come to any of them." He stated as he smoothed out his coat and prepared to leave for the meeting.

Kailey smiled as the woman skilled fingers spplied the medicine and rewrapped her knee and ankle. "You keep that up and I might start coming to you when I get hurt instead of the clinic." She said giving Sophie a wink. "And go with her elf boy. I should probably try to keep off my leg for a bit, let the medicine do its thing." She said enjoying her chance to rest. She had a full purse from her last job, but wasn't one for shopping. "Oh, and Miss, I'm usually around here if you ever want to find me. One of my homes is in Incolumitas."

Loa reognized the soft jingle, and returned her gaze to his face. "I would never insinuate you do not care for the prince, my lord." She murmured. Her quick reflexes required the catch the pouch, even though she would have prefered to let it drop. As he began to leave, she grudgingly bowed again. Her personal fear aside, this man did love his country and the royal family, and only wished them the best. "Many thanks, Sir Conrad." She watched him leave, and then strode towards her room. It disturbed her, on a personal level, that he knew of her plans and was aiding them, but she could not help it. It's possible he's aiding me because he is glad that I will not be within the castle walls for a while.

The nobles all watched as the king strode in. Kennard was obviously angry, but composed and prepared to act the part of the calm king. Then Prince Riordan walked in, and one of the older, less respectful nobles stood, bowed almost sarcastically, and murmured. "Your highness. Thank you for gracing us with your appearance." There was an unspoken 'finally' on the end of his statement.

Riordan shot a sharp glare towards the pompous noble. "Your actions are very unbecoming. Sit down and please shut up." Riordan said, not caring what him or the other nobles thought, "Miss Rose, please take a seat on the side of the room." He said pointing her towards a chair before joining his father. "Will Sir Conrad be joining us? As your advisor he should be present for this." and Riordan thought, 'And for the announcement I'm going to make.'

Jeremy sat, just outside the castle. He didn't want to face his father, who had no doubt heard of his sons latest idiocy. Nor did he want to stay at the castle. He hated Demitri. That arrogant b*****d. "Maybe I should just leave. Run away to Incolumitas." He sighed before a messanger rather out of breath rushed up to him.

"Master....Revelin......Prince Riordan.....requests you....at the meeting.....now." He said trying to catch him breath,

"What? It's political nonsense. And not the place for me to spout my ideals. But If he wants me there, I suppose I'll show up." He said as he tunred to go towards the meeting. "And you. Rest here until you've caught your breath. You sound about to die." He said before heading to the meeting, no clue why he was summoned.

Benjamin led Vasilista until he found the perfect sitting room with a gorgeous vies out the window of the garden and comfortable chairs for both of them to sit on. "Sounds fine to me. If you don't mind, I'll go first." He thought fr a moment before asking, "What is your favorite pastime?"

Rose sat by a rather unfriendly looking woman, wondering if Riordan's plan was wise or foolish. She wasn't yet sure he was thinking clearly after the ordeal and worry of his little brother. She hoped for his sake, he was.

"I gave my word, mam. Besides, I do not mind a long walk so long as you do not mind a blind companion...and my name is NOT Elf Boy! It is Shade! Shade Silverwind." Shade announced the last part just before Kailey departd before offering a hand to Sophie, "Shall we, Miss Sophie?" he asked.

((Tis short, sorry...a little scatterbrained tonight...XD))

Sophie smirked as she gained her large pack of provisions from the shop owner. With a bit of adjusting she managed it on her back. "I guarantee we shall see each other again." She replied to Kailey before heading in to the east. "So my good silverwind. Do you normally agree to treks across the land with random strangers?" She asked.

"Good luck" Demitri whispered under his breath as they departed from one another. He actually hoped she would find someone to cure Owen and well if she didn't it would get her away from Prince Riordan. Maybe give some time for Lady Rose to get close to the eldest prince. He moved through the halls quickly and effortlessly as he made his way to the meeting hall. He slipped through the doors without much fanfare and his political face appeared.

He gave a few hellos and handshakes to some of the nobles. He found that if he keeping a good relationship with them allowed him to sway them to what the King needed. He moved quickly to his seat giving a bow to the King and Prince Riordan before sitting. "Your majesty, My humblest apologies. There were a few things to attend to." He explained though did not elaborate any further.

Kennard nodded a bit to Demitri. "Glad you could join us, it's quite alright.. I've only barely arrived myself." Kennard glanced at the tables of nobles. "Well, gentlemen?"

One of the noblemen, nodded, and glanced over at Riordan. "I'm afraid this is of a slightly personal matter, but as I can't seem to pin the prince down any other time... Might I ask, your highness," The man frowned deeply. "Why you have not even considered my daughter to court? You have danced with her many times, she now believes you are preparing to woo her, and no other gentleman will call upon her for fear of slighting you."
PostPosted: Wed Jan 30, 2013 9:50 pm

Riordan could not believe it. This was the first issue. He sighed, "Sir, I did enjoy your daughters company, but dancing with her is not an indication that I would court her. You may tell any potential suitors that I will not be slighted in the least. She deserves more love than what I could give her." He said giving the man a small bow.

Jeremy quietly entered the meeting room. the door closing more loud than he had intended bring many eyes to him. He cringed and blushed slightly. And He looked to Riordan, apologetically.

Riordan smiled as his friend entered. At the mention of the Prince not courting a young woman several other nobles voiced question of their own children and Riordan stood and raised a hand to silence everyone. "This is not the time for the place for this manner of discussion. But I have an important announcement to make." He said a smile crossing his face. "For a long time I have been neglecting an important choice placed upon me, as a prince." He said looking around the room. "An heir to the throne, needs a loyal advisor to guide his decisions. And I have to come to the decision of who to name as my royal advisor." Riordan shot a smirk to Demitri, before quickly looking to the door and gesturing, "My personal friend, Jeremy Revelin."

Jeremy stood in shock. Advisor? Riordan had just....was he....What?!?! There was an outroar from the nobles. A rabble rouser and radical thinker advising the next in line for the throne!

Riordan smiled, "Jeremy, as my advisor you sit next to me." He gestured for his shocked friend to join him. "Any more question for me, on any matter, are first to go through my Advisor. I'm sure almost everyone knows him."

Jeremy, still stunned and blushing deep red, walked upn and sat at the Princes side. He had nothing to say. This was why the Prince wanted him here? Riordan was either a genius, and this was part of a plan, or he was totally insane.

Kennard burst to his feet. "WHAT?!" King Kennard stood at the entirety of his relatively imposing height. Not that Riordan wasn't the same size. "Why did you spring this on me, as well." Kennard practically growled. "I understand we don't see eye to eye on all things, but surely I deserved to be warned of this beforehand!" Kennard stared at his son, and for a flash of a second, saw Riordan at Owens age, determined and stubborn, his precious little son. Then he got an image of Owen, laying weak in bed, so softspoken. I might already be losing one son... Kennard sat back down, almost throwing himself into his seat, frowning contemplatively.

One of the nobles got alarmed at the expression on the kings face. "Sire! Surely you aren't going to approve of this appointment!"

Kennard raised his eyes, furious blue orbs, to the noble. "Are you doubting my son? Are you questioning your future king?" Kennard glanced down the table. "A nobleman must trust in his kings judgement. If you do not trust in Riordans judgement, how am I to know I can trust my kingdom to you old codgers? If you believe these rumors of my 'nearing' death, if you spread them yourself, then what are you to do when it arrives? Are you going to second guess Rio at every turn?" Kennard stood, and glanced at Demitri. Remembered the many voices declaring him 'too young', 'ill-fit'. He glanced at Jeremy. "My son needs to have a voice who will listen, advise, not just shut him down. I am not able to do that, none of you are apparently able to do that..." Glancing at Riordan, Kennard tilted his head. "Son, if you believe Jeremy is capable of doing that, then I will approve this appointment." Kennard shot a look down the table. He said nothing, but his eyes declared that they would all deal with it.

"Father," he said smiling, "Jeremy has been a trusted friend. He would never lead me astray or allow me to make ill-advised decisions. He is intelligent, and cunning. I can think of no one better to advise me when the task of leadership falls to me." He looked to Jeremy, "I want him as an advisor because I trust him. You know that my trust comes hard father. For me to openly say that I trust him...."

"Umm, if I may speak, your Majesty?" Jeremy said standing and bowing low to the king. "I know I may seem young and brash for this position. And that sometimes my views are....radical, to say the least." He said trying to keep his voice steady, "But above all else, I want to see this country ruled in a good and just way, such as you have done. And I will do all I can to help Riordan do so when the crown falls to him." he looked to Riordan, "Thank you Prince, for entrusting me with this position. I will do all within my power to help you become a ruler as noble and as just as your father."

Demitri rolled his eyes a bit as the nobleman pushed his daughter upon the prince. This was not the time nor the place but to many nobles it was always time for their petty problems. Demitri waited as the prince made his announcement. He didn't even have to guess. It had been clear to him the Prince would not keep him as his advisor. However when he caught Rio's smirk he knew who the appointment would be given to. The decision was one that would be meant to act as a blow to him. From that deduction it was simple to realize whom the prince would name. His eyes locked in on Jeremy in the back of the room as the words left the Prince's mouth.

The cries of protest from the nobles were simply background noise to him. He himself however stayed calm. A small smile played to his face. It betrayed none of the inner emotions he felt. No right now he would stay the collected advisor on the outside. After the King's order of silence the room was a bit quiet. He could feel some of the nobles looking in his direction to see if he would do something. Idiots as if he would stand directly against the royal family for their sake. No this was a game to be played with subtly. "May I be the first to give congratulations to Lord Revelin. His counsel will undoubtedly help his highness now and far into the future." He stated with a smile giving only praise. He thought he heard a couple of jaws hit the table.

Kennard nodded thoughtfully, listening as Riordan justified Jeremy, and redirected his attention to the person in question when Jeremy himself began to speak. Kennard smiled a bit, he believed Jeremy's heart was true. "Alright." He glanced at Demitri, curious to know his position. Though Kennard couldn't be sure, he thought that the calm smile was a mask. Oh well, he'll tell me his true opinions later, when it won't undermine my authority in front of the nobles. "Here here." He said when Demitri offered up congratulations. "So, if I might speak next..." Kennard took a deep breath, before speaking, his mood clearly somber. "My son Owen has had another attack. His idiot doctor is declaring his job done- saying there is no more to be done." Kennard pushed his hair out of his face. A few of the noblemen looked at Riordan, and it was almost as if their thoughts had been spoken- at least Kennard still had his heir. Had Kennard noticed this, he would have struck them all down. "Alright, who else has business?"

((Not sure what else to do with the meeting. I'll wait for the others to post, then skip to the middle of the night to advance the plot a touch.))

"Not really." Shade answered, not much caring to be on the road. He would love nothing more than to be on the lush grass, able to 'see' much more clearly, though he did not think the lady Sophie would enjoy the same, "More often than not I only lead lost people out of the forest, and drive out intruders that threaten it." There was love in the word "Forest" as if he had been speaking of a dear friend. "I am a ranger...In training.... My father and I dedicate our live to protecting the forest and the creatures within. It just so happens that today I am trekking with a stranger. I could hardly refuse such a request...To be perfectly honest...going on my own can get lonely..." Shade was surprised to hear this come from himself. He rarely spoke this much, and here he was, acting like a chatterbox. He was used to loneliness. It could be lonely in the forest on nights when his father had to run his own errands, but he had never said the word until now. Somehow, he felt as if he had betrayed his father just bu uttering it, "Forgive me..." he murmured, quickly changing the subject, "And you miss Sophie? Do you often allow strange men to escort you?"

Rose watch as Riordan made his announcement, and the room filled with commotion, the king yelling before nearly giving up, and approving with more commotion to follow. "I don't understand. Jeremy and Riordan seem like really good friends, so why is it such a big deal that he's the adviser for Prince Riordan?" Rose asked the woman next to her.
Well, Isn't it obvious? Jeremy believes in ridiculous ideals such as bestial being EQUALS to us. Could you imagine?" "Yes...actually I can." Rose nodded, "Not to overstep my boundaries, but I feel to look down on a person for what they are born with is unseemly." "You would think that, wouldn't you?" "...What do you mean by that?" Rose raised an eyebrow, "We have all been talking about it. The mutts that somehow found themselves able to get a noble title, and actually THINK they will the same treatment as us with noble blood. It's laughable. I mean, if your middle class blood weren't enough, just look at your hair...It's purple! You are not fit for the title you've found on yourself. We are all certain you will not last long here."
Rose felt her mouth open just as the king had finished informing everyone of Owen. "The prince making crazy decisions and the only prince left bound to die. With this, the king will surely not last longer. His poor heart will go out." The woman only breathed this. Rose was just able to make it out. At the king's question, she had stood up, slamming her hand in out rage. How DARE she! She, who had no idea how much heart ache these people who she had known her WHOLE LIFE went through. Rose inhaled a sharp breath, about to yell out at the woman when she realized she had been standing before the king, who had asked if anyone had business. Here she was, standing in a room. She dared not say anything about what the woman said. Who would trust her word over the more experienced noble. She cursed in her thoughts, took another moment to calm down, and spoke as if all was well, "Pardon the sound, but I hoped to get everyone's attention." not true, but it worked, "I am Rose Marino, daughter of To...I mean, Antonio Marino. I and my family are the newest noble family. We have only just gotten it official this day. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintances." Anyone who looked at her hand might have seen the fist still shaking in anger, "I hope will all get to know one another soon. That is all." she sat down, a shade of red crossing her face.
