Best: FE9-Tanith

It was between this incarnation of Tanith, Vanessa, and Florina. To arguments that Tana is better than Vanessa, Vanessa has substantially better availability in which her flying utility definitely gets put to good use (good luck getting Ross without it, not to mention an excellent way of dealing with the Bael in Chapter 6 among other things), and has an amazing affinity and the capacity to support with people with that same affinity that are both around early on for fabulous boosts (+5 Pow, +5 to defenses, and +25% to avoid is amazing). Between all that, Tana’s slightly better growths are negligible. Tana isn’t handling anything Vanessa can’t. Florina’s also a strong contender for possessing the best availability of any flyer in FE7 and having a good number of good support options and also boasting the fastest support in the game with Lyn – also crit machine with the right setup. But Tanith. As far as I’m concerned, having Reinforcements combined with her own flying utility could outweigh any utility other flyers have and allows for strategies that would otherwise be impossible. On top of that, she’s got solid bases and growths and is an excellent unit for magic swords. Oh right! And earth affinity. Filling her up with Oscar and either of her other support partners will make her basically untouchable on a level that would make even the best naturally dodgy Peg units jealous. Untouchable, good potential, and unique and valuable utility. Tanith wins.

Worst: Yunno

Bad bases, potentially obnoxious to recruit if you haven’t been using Thany or Tate, and poor availability. Every other late-coming peg-unit has SOME utility that doesn’t even require investment into them. Syrene deals with the Gorgon Egg debacle thanks to her flying utility and Sigrun can equip Imbue for fabulous survivability for a while. But Yunno? Nope. She’s just trash.

Best: Florina (FE7) takes the cake for me. Available from an early point in the game, gets surprisingly good Str to rival her sister Farina, gets decent defenses to rival her more well-rounded sister Fiora, and dodges everything. By the end of the game she barely ever gets hurt for me. If I played FE8 more, I might pick Vanessa over her (the last time I fully completed FE8 Vanessa's Str growth hated me and she had maybe 12 Str at 20/20... >.o) but as it is, Florina all the way. Plus, she's adorable with Hector. Awwww

Worst: Again, lack of FE experience, but I'll have to go with Syrene solely because I haven't obtained Yuuno before. Comes too late in the game for me to want to utilize her, and she doesn't have good enough growths to merit babying her EXP. Sorry, hon. Your design is nice but you just aren't a very good character.

I love flying units, though. Pegs and archers are my favorites~

Well yeah it's a little earlier than I normally do the update, but this topic is now updated. Best/Worst Chapter of FE7 is the topic for today. On thing I would like to note if the chapter is one that is on both Eliwood and Hector's route please state the chapter they are in for both routes.

Best: Battle Before Dawn (E26/H28, I believe)

I feel like it’s a really fun and engaging chapter. There are a number of things you need to try and accomplish, you have to split you party in two (well, I suppose you don’t HAVE to, but it’s strongly encouraged), it’s a fog of war which always changes things up, and you always have the option of pushing yourself to try and kill Ursula. Fun stuff.

Worst: Four-Fanged Offense (Lloyd version) (E23-A/H24-A)

It was hard to think of a worst chapter, actually. But, uh, getting the Lloyd version of Four-Fanged Offense means you’re stuck with Wallace rather than Geitz. It also likely means your Lords are underleveled. Both of those observations associated with this chapter are bad things.

I think the best chapter for me is the same as FD, Battle Before Dawn. It's a good challenge. Splitting your team in half, trying to beat the time turns, protecting Prince Zephiel, getting all the loot before the thieves ran away, kill Ursula, and recruiting units too.

Worse chapter for me would be that ship battle. Oy.... Not only do you have lack of space to move around, but you also have to protect Merlinus from pegasus units and play defense on both sides where again, lack of room to attack.

Best: 19xx. Call me crazy, but I found that both the challenge getting here and the backstory made this a chapter worth noting. How many people would even know to get Nils to level 7 in Lyn mode? Plus this is a gaiden to a gaiden, so...

Worst: E29x (forgot the Hector mode one). A "battle preparations" chapter where all you do is go shopping and get Karla. The game is offering you an advantage you don't really need - and it didn't necessarily need this chapter to give you Karla either. Basically, it's pretty much a handout with nothing much to offer. I know some people will of course disagree, but I never really liked this chapter regardless.

Alright everything has been updated, hopefully this topic will be a little better than the last one. Best/Worst Non-royal Laguz unit.

Best: FE9 Ranulf

Worst: FE9 Ulki. I always ended up using Janaff over him

Best: Volug (Haven't try FE10 Ranulf since I haven't beat the game and I rarely used FE9 Ranulf in the FE9 game. >>; )

Worst: FE9 Ulki.

Best: Volug (FE10 Ulki is RIGHT behind him, though)

It’s a tight race between Volug and FE10 Ulki, with FE10 Ranulf , FE10 Janaff, and FE10 Mordecai all coming up behind those two. FE10 did a great job of balancing Laguz and making some very fierce units. I’ve even taken Volug and Ulki to endgame before. All Ulki, Ranulf, or Janaff need to be incredible is to be Bexp-pumped up to level 30 and fed a Satori sign. They all become insanely powerful and need virtually no investment after that. Just feed them some of the copious Olivi Grass available and watch them tear s**t apart. The reason I’m merely mentioning Ranulf rather than considering him for best is because he suffers from the Cater Laguz meter which makes him eat Olivi Grass more frequently (and he does require a notably larger amount of Bexp to hit level 30 than Janaff or Ulki do). Janaff and Ulki would also be about equal were it not for Ulki having the much superior Vigilance to Janaff’s Insight (they’re both better Adept users than any Beorc unit you have in the Greil Mercenaries, by the way, with their amazing Mastery Skill activation rates and higher speed stats transformed). Mordecai gets mentioned for being an absolutely amazing, underappreciated tank. To give you an idea of how good a tank he is, Mordecai starts with 32 Defense transformed at his base level; Gatrie doesn’t hit 32 Defense until he reaches third tier.

So between comparing Ulki and Volug, Ulki requires virtually no effort and can just have what resources he needs casually dumped into him to become a destructive force that doubles every enemy and has at least a 36% chance of activating Tear for each hit (Adept for even greater destruction optional) and has flying utility and a very solid affinity to support others with. Meanwhile, Volug is one of the Dawn Brigade’s three amazing Earth affinity units who can attain pseudo-invincibility through a support and if used as regularly as any other unit should have an S rank in Strike by Part 3 which makes him continue to be a force to be a reliable offensive force. They’re both fantastic, but I guess Volug is more valuable to the Dawn Brigade than Ulki is to the Greil Mercenaries (Ulki’s easier to take to Endgame, but neither are essential to the simplicity that is FE10’s Endgame anyway, so that doesn’t seem to matter very much).

Worst: Easily Lyre. No offense to speak of and a Cat Laguz meter make her start in a really big ditch she’ll be futilely clawing for a very long time to get out of.

Best - Ranulf; though I also want to say Mordicai who, like FD said, is a tank. An unappreciated tank, but still a tank. It just seems to me I use Ranulf alot more then Mordicai.

Worst - Lyre. I mean you already have Lethe so why Lyre. And I barely use Lethe as is.
