"Fine," Carl said, "Take him. This fight just isn't worth it."

She had secured the general, but to what end.

"Some information for you, Slatsky's intent on war, both with the undead and eastern Gaia. But she's being played for a sucker by the team in the citadel, just a hunch, and I have no idea what the citadel wants to acheive. Maybe they're all just insane. The forces are already in place, all we can do is sit and wait what will happen next."

Carl smiled, "So what do you plan to do?"

Apparently, Eripse has not spent the last... Two months being entirely encompassed in the sexual aura of the hotel room. Apparently, Eripse -isn't- kicking some dude in the chest. Apparently, everything is not as it should be.

When asked "What she planned to do next" She put her hands in her pockets, and said simply this, while pulling out a gun, aiming it at Carl's head, and pulling the trigger.

"The same thing we do every night, Pinky."

Before other hand, concealed in pocket, pops the rock, causing the woman to vanish.

Carl conveniently rolled in the restroom as the gun came out. The woman disapeared in a hurry, and that was that.

"That was too confusing, did she take the Bakar?"

((Currently under consideration for a Raven Industries asset. Stand by for further details. Because I just couldn't let a whole city go to waste, could I?))

West Fall City had fallen into a state of despair since the collapse of their government. Riots were a daily occurrence. Street gangs terrorized the regular citizens. The police and what remained of the military oppressed everyone, using the technology left behind after the government's collapse. They didn't bother to arrest anyone breaking curfew or any other laws anymore; they went straight to execution. The law wasn't exactly concrete either. Paramilitary policemen calling themselves Judges changed the law according to their whims and their twisted sense of right and wrong. They were self-appointed judge, jury, and executioner; their trial consisted of stating the crime one was being tried for, and then shot in the head.

Riots were handled with brutal efficiency. The police did not hesitate in using extreme force to quell protesting citizens, and usually left the bodies of the dead rotting in the streets to serve as reminders. The citizens lived in fear of their lives daily, venturing out only when it looked safe. At this rate, West Fall would collapse in on itself sooner or later.

It was this chaos that attracted the Cult of Darshendros, and already a small underground sect had been established, with many of its new members consisting of runaways and people who have lost all hope in life. Some posed as street cleaners, removing corpses from the streets that were in well enough condition to be sent back to Necropolita to be reanimated in some fashion. Others spread the word of the dark deity in the shadows of alleyways. Some gangs have even devoted themselves to the Dark Eternal, killing in the streets and bringing the corpses back to be collected by the cult's priests.

Thus is how life in West Fall City has changed. It was soon to get much worse.

Or much better, depending on how one saw it.

Tonight, A UH-60 Black Hawk, unmarked, was heading towards West Fall. The pilot of the helo knew perfectly well about the devastation of this place, and had been ordered to insert those within the helicopter as close to the city as possible without being detected. It was some twenty miles away from the city itself that the four men in black coveralls and balaclavas were dropped, tactical gear and armored vests on their torsos.

The Black Hawk took off as soon as the fast rope was completed, and they prepared themselves for insertion.

"Check your gear," the leader said as the four of them formed up. After they finished and nodded towards him, he said, "Listen up, because I'm not going to say this twice. We are in recon ROE until further orders are given. HQ wants to know what's up around here, but at the same time we are not officially sanctioned to be here. So no shooting unless you're shot at. Is that clear?"

"Hooah," they said in response.

The leader nodded. "Let's go to work. We're on the clock, starting now. Move."

With that, they headed towards West Fall...

Curfew was in effect after 8:00PM, though anyone who was anyone disregarded it and just avoided the Judges patrolling the streets at all costs. Anyone caught was never seen again. The gates into the city were heavily guarded. Anything coming into or out of the city was thoroughly inspected. Only those with official paperwork were allowed to travel out of the city, and if someone didn't have any to provide, they were detained and also never seen again.

Who said they had to take the front gate?

The four of them lowered their NVGs and took a look at their surroundings, only for the leader to hold up his right fist. They stopped, and all dropped to a knee. "Tight security, front entrance. Looks like... four of them," one of them said.

"Then we don't just knock and ask to be let in. Get moving."

They got up and, as surreptitiously as possible, headed towards another entrance point. There had to be a side gate or door somewhere. If they had to, they would scale the goddamn wall to get in. Once they got towards the left side corner of the wall, the leader pointed towards it and his team pressed up against it, scout first, team lead last.

The recon man looked out from their cover.

"Clear, no sign of guards."

The leader nodded and ordered them to get their lines ready. They moved towards somewhere near the center of the wall and prepared to scale the damned thing. This was the only way in, apparently. "On my mark... three... two... one... hooks in."

They tossed their lines upwards and the hooks caught the top of the wall. Checking to make sure they were good and firm, they proceeded to infiltrate West Fall.

Meanwhile, some crime was going on in the streets. A gang of street punks had broken into an appliance store and were stealing used televisions. Judge Dredd was called out to respond.

"Stop, in the name of the law!"

"Law? HA! There is no law!"

"I AM THE LAW!"

After five minutes of rapid gunfire, the perforated remains of the looters were left splattered across the sidewalk, walls, and inside the front window display of the appliance store. With justice handed out, Judge Dredd called in paramedics to clean up the mess and rode off to find more criminals to execute.

The recon team had successfully made their way over the wall and stuck to the shadows, avoiding those same patrols of so-called 'judges'. One of them took a look at their eqipment and said, "Looks like the remainder of Yaits Corp. firearms. Still pretty high-end, though nothing like ours. Paramilitary at best."

The leader nodded and said, "Amateurs. Avoid and evade."

And they did. Of course, they heard gun fire a bit later and moved to the scene to observe. They were a bit late, sure, but they took note of it. "Holy s**t... someone had a field day. Wouldn't be surprised if it was one of those goons..."

The rifleman took a look towards the site, zooming in. "Looks like a break in... or at least, an attempted one."

The team lead grimaced. "Some brand of justice. Then again, this place is under anarchy. Let's move."

There was an explosion on the opposite end of town that the recon crew was in, followed by rapid gunfire and distant screams. If they decided to look, they would see something strange. Darkness was gathering where smoke from the explosion was pluming. Something was happening over there; something dreadful.
PostPosted: Sat May 17, 2008 11:16 pm

"s**t, what the hell was that?"

The team leader looked towards the direction of the explosion and said, "That's our next destination. We have to report it to headquarters. Move out, now."

They got a move on, none of them expecting anything like what they would see before them.

What they would find would look like a scene out of Hell. Thugs on the streets were shooting at zombies, but because of their inexperience, they weren't going down and the zombies were biting and ripping them to pieces. Those who died and managed to stay in mostly one piece rose back to their feet and attacked other people in the streets. At the far end of the street was a huge swirling portal, from which more undead were filing out from and attacking.

"Aww, Christ..."

The team lead grimaced and said, "Hold position. Those guys had it coming to them. Stay still and stay in the dark."

They did. The army that was currently being born would pass right by them. If not... well, they would open fire on the first walking dead that they saw, and it would not be pretty for anyone nearby that was... well, dead, like them. See, their weapons weren't conventional. Matter of fact, neither was their gear.

And at the moment, their gear responded. Silently.

Heads up displays were deactivated at the moment, but when they were, they would begin showing just about all the data that the sattelite could collect. Enemies in red, allies in green, civillians in white, objectives in yellow, and finally, team members and support elements in blue. Those zombies, if it were not obvious enough, were enemies.

Still, they remained silent... and began exfiltrating. The time to leave the city of West Fall had come. This report was not going to be pretty.

All the whites were rapidly turning red as the undead swept through West Fall with little resistance. The recon team wouldn't have to worry about detection, as long as they stayed out of sight. Nobody even knew they were there, after all. If they stuck around a bit longer though, they would see the last things coming out of the portal (or their satellite would): dragons. Thermals would confirm them to, in fact, be undead dragons, as their bodies gave off no heat. A flight of dracoliches. What was going on here?
