"Hey, hows it ha... No, I can't even bring myself to make that terrible pun... you need a hand?"
Before she could answer, Zed aimed his railgun at the tentacle holding her in place and shot it. Zed caught Koko and then attempted to shoot her gun and knife down, but he accedentally destroyed the gun and only narrowly avoided the falling knife.
"Urm, sorry about that..."

As Thane wandered further and further into the ship he began to come across the cryostatis pods. He walked up to one and rubbed away some of the dust that had collected on the outside. Peering in he could make out a human shape suspended in the cryo pod. He shone his torch so he could see the shape better. It was a man, aged around his late thirties with short brown hair. "huh there's something strange about him....." Looking closer he recoiled in horror as he could see the the man's skin had started to peel off, and the muscle could be seen underneath as well as bones. "w-what the hell?!" He fell back and shuffled away from the pod. He shone the torch around. They were everywhere these pods. "I-It's probably just something wrong with his pod...." He stood up and walked over to another pod. Wiping away the dust again he shone the light in and stared in horror as the same thing had happened with the woman inside. "T-These pods....What's happened?!"

Koko stiffened at the destruction of her gun before slowly turning her head to look at Zed. A look of rage crossed her face just before she punched him square in the jaw, landing neatly on her feet as he dropped her from staggering back.
"That was for destroying my gun idiot!!"
Then she took a step towards the pilot & pulled his face towards her. She was now wearing a soft expression on her features.
"But I sure am glad to see you..."
The larval creatures around the pair were beginning to stir, hissing slightly as they uncurled. Koko looked up & around, kneeling down & slowly reaching backwards with her hand to grab her knife.

Zed rubbed his jaw and turned slowly towards the huge creature, which was now leaning towards them, it's large mandables chattering away at the air.
"I think we'd better leave... Wait, we're in a terraforming unit? Awesome. That means we can eject it..."

Koko stood up straight & put one hand on her hip, looking at the giant creature. She let out a slow whistle,
"Wow, that's one ugly piece o' s**t."
She smirked & looked over at Zed, spinning her knife with one hand.
"If we get outta this, there's some things I gotta do."
She focused back on the creature, noticing that a few of the larve had uncurled & were making their way - rather quickly - towards the pair. She crouched ever so slightly & held her knife in front of her, cursing under her breath for her lack of a gun.

Zed walked over to one of the walls and peeled a few of the alien larvae off of a panel and jabbed at it, eventually getting it to respond. The huge creature twitched as the larvae fell to the floor.
"Right, i can activate the release mechanism from here, but we'll need to get a way out fast..."

Koko nodded slightly before spinning round at a noise behind them. She was ready to attack whatever came after them, until her motion tracker sounded & she saw a figure emerge from the darkness. Her jaw dropped & she lowered her weapon ever so slightly.
"D-dad....?"
The human walking out of the shadows was, indeed, her father. But he was not himself. Attached to the back of his head & down his spine, was one of the larval creatures that could be seen all around them. She took a small step towards the human host, not realising that the figure before her was no longer her parent. Once she was within a few feet of the person, Koko's motion tracker began to beep crazily, indicating that the larve were now rushing down at her. She whipped round, slicing one in mid-air as it leapt at her, only to find that she couldn't see Zed anymore; the darkness present throughout this ship had closed over her. More hissing began all around.

The floor started rumbling violently as a massive swarm closed in on them both.
"THEY'RE COMING!!!"
Zed roared as he opened fire on the hundereds of alien creatures that poured into the chamber.
"You're gunna kill me for this later..."
He grabbed Koko and got her to the floor then stood over her shooting rapidly at the creatures that were surrounding them both. After a short while Zed pulled a small round object from his pocket and threw it towards the largest creature. The object exploded in a huge flash of light, right in the face of the huge creature, stunning it and all of the other smaller creatures, causing them all to fall to the floor.
"It's not your dad anymore! RUN!"

Koko scrambled up from the floor & stood for a moment not really knowing what to do. For a few precious seconds she stood still & that was all it took. A searing pain ripped through her skull & she fell to her knees, screaming. Her genetic code was made up of two victims of this infestation - her own parents - which all had a link to the giant creature in this room. This link was being extended to her in a rather painful way.
It wasn't too much longer before Koko stood up & turned to Zed, her head tilted to one side.
"Are we going somewhere Zed? Or are you planning on leaving me?"
A sudden, crazed laugh erupted from the mercenary as she stared at the pilot. Her eyes were glazed over & she was clutching her knife rather tightly.

Zed spun around and raised his railgun, pointing it at Koko's head.
He had a serious look on his face, the one that he'd saved for times like these.
He pulled the trigger, sending a dart of hyper-accellerated mass from the barrel of the railgun past Koko's head and into the giant creature that was behind her.
The hyper-accellerated particles hit it and reacted with a highly flammable substance within the creature's body, causing the huge ailen creature to internally combust.

Koko didn't even flinch when the shot went past, but she did make a stance as though she was about to take a step forward. In the space of half a second she had leapt at Zed & grabbed hold of his gun, shoving him to the ground so that she was on top of him. She used the gun to keep him down on the ground & all the while, wore a sadistic grin on her face.
"Don't you care Zed? I thought you like me. Was I wrong Zed? Are you going to hurt me? If I've done something wrong tell me, forgive me, I'll be good. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry...."
She continued to repeat the last phrase, over & over again. The mercenary's actions & the words coming out of her mouth were completely at odds with each other, as though she were conflicted.

Zed struggled for a moment, looking for some kind of way out, he looked at where his railgun was, pressed between the two of them, it was facing an artificial gravity control unit that was on the wall.
He pulled the trigger again, destroying the gravity control unit.
The artificial gravity deactivated, allowing Zed to simply lift Koko off of him.
As he floated he fired at the huge creature once again, causing it to let out a terrible scream.

Koko blinked slowly at the sound of the creature's scream, then floated over to it with an innocent look on her face. She went up to the huge, bloated neck & used her knife (which she'd kept on her person) to dig into it's flesh, before ripping out something that looked a bit like vocal chords.
"Do be quiet please, you're disturbing me."
Then she went around severing the tentacles connected to the creature, smiling the whole time & humming slightly.
"Did you really expect me to hand Zed over to you? I don't think you quite understand you parasitic worm. Now you're going to die & it'll be lots of fun!"
There was something seriously wrong with the female mercenary right now. She was being too sadistic, enjoying the injuries she was causing way too much. The constant warring between her own personality & that of the creatures trying to control her was having a weird effect on her.

Zed shrugged and floated over to a hatch on the wall that lead to the outside via a docking point that the Aiolos could be attached to.
He tapped his uplink and turned back to Koko, who was enjoying slashing the huge -and now mute- creature.
Zed shot several more of the creatures.

After a few more slashes, Koko pushed back from the huge creature, feeling one of the larve attach to her neck but simply ripping it off. Turning around & seeing all the aliens, she tilted her head back & laughed loudly.
"You're all going to DIE!!"
She continued to laugh for a while after that exclamation, until a glint above caught her eye. It was her semi-automatic rifle, the one she'd lost earlier. Floating up to it, she wrenched the weapon off the wall from where it had been attached & checked it for damage. Then she turned back to the creatures, who were beginning to swarm upwards towards her. With a crazed yell she fired down into the swarm, causing a bunch of the creatures to practically explode into a mist of turquoise blood. The mercenary continued to shoot as she travelled over to Zed, grinning all the while.
