[Kichi :: LoD : Throne Room]

Kichi calmly responded. "You did not answer my question. You promise salvation, but that term is far too general to base an agreement off of." He paused for a moment, but before the armored man could speak again, he continued. "SECONDLY. I figure you're talking about Kyle, in which case, I see no reason to assume he will betray us. He's shown compassion, caring, and loyalty to this group, in his actions and his words, at all times I have watched him. Furthermore, we share a goal, as does everyone in this group." And with the final part he glared. "As I said, siding with a guy who says 'betray your friends and I will give you salvation' is a d**k move, and an unwise choice due to the ambiguity of your end of the deal." Then his glare intensified five-fold. "I don't know where you come from, or what you're thinking, but betraying your friends makes you an idiot, and asking someone else to betray theirs...well, I'll say this much. It's one of the biggest @$#-hole moves one can do."

His voice remained calm, but the look on his face was one of utter contempt, especially after what he did to John. "Now I was not happy with that friend you just cut, but everything he said is right so far. Unless this salvation of yours is exactly what I'm looking for, my answer is that you SHOULD be kicked into a pit, filled with spikes, fire, and poison, for asking me to betray the friends I have left. Now explain what your 'salvation' entails. It's either that, or leave."

'Watch it Kichi....he obviously doesn't like insults, and he seems strong.'

'That's why I didn't directly insult him.'

[[Louis : LoD : Throne Room]]

"Light is as deceitful a mask as darkness, and can be just as blinding." Louis sighed, showing obvious frustration, "Obviously you are deaf, so my words are meaningless. If one cannot see with his own eyes and discern without being told then one will only live his life on the chain drawn by others. You are but Ultima's tool in the end. And the rest of you? Are you either silent or mute? Am I to expect the same of you then? So be it. If that's the case, and you let others answer for you you are equally useless. I did not ask you to betray one another but to open your eyes to the inevitable. But enough of this talk... you've made your decisions."

[[Cue: Battle Music ~ The Time Has Come]]

Now that that is over with...

Louis chuckled and lifted a hand as if to say stop, or hold. Then after a couple second delay, a pillar of ice blasted out of the floor behind him, smashing into the immobile John, breaking him free of the two pillars and sending him flying into the wall beyond.

That felt so much better. This series of events is so tiresome. I much rather things this way.

A glyph drew itself on the floor surrounding the entire group, cutting out any of the emperors guards and Seymour. Louis turned slightly, tilting his head at Seymour at a small angle, almost as if to say only to him, 'Your move.'

Ice blasted out of the floor and up to the roof of the throne room nearly a foot thick. Louis turned back to Kichi, another subtle laugh escaping the helmet, "Your foolishness will cost you dearly. Now you'll face the wrath of a thousand years!"

Louis threw his hands out to his sides and summoned two swords of ice off his arms, advancing quickly on Kichi and crossing the blades across his torso.

[Kichi :: LoD :: Throne Room]

"Feh, and like following you without knowing what you mean is any different?!" Kichi watched him rush in, and used a sudden glide burst at the last second to push off the ground...straight for him. He lowered his tonfa to his sides, angling them so that the attack would both be parried lower, and at the same time, puch Kichi faster at the armored man. At the same second, he lifted his legs over the Ice swords, and into the the front of the guy's helmet, then he jumped off backwards.

[Cory .:. HT/BC .:. Outside Train]

Just as Kuja's flames burned away the vines ensnaring Cory, Indomitable Will exploded from his entire body and shattered his earthen bindings. While Kuja's spell did hurt, the cooling flame of the Will eased away that pain.

Despite his gag being gone, the ronin remained uncharacteristically silent. There were no words of mourning for Rae, no arrogant comeback for Kuja, and no explaining himself to Kyle. He simply turned and began to walk away from the train, the Revblade's tip dragging on the ground behind him. However, there was a sudden movement just as he was a good distance from the train.

He turned without warning and launched the Revblade between Kuja and Kyle, the weapon spinning like a buzz saw and missing all of the other earthlings before embedding itself on the top of the train where the side met the roof. "Let me make this as clear as I can, Kyle: I hate all of you. You're all too optimistic when the situation doesn't call for it. You're all too trusting. You trusted me, who should have been viewed as the enemy I have been from the start. You trusted that copy, and it cost you the real thing. Not only was it a fellow Earthling that fell, but it was your healer. You're only Earthling mage. In fact, the only mage you would have a solid reason to trust."

The renegade summoned a dark portal before adding, "You're all a waste of time. This is the second time you've let and Earthling fall, Kyle. I hope you all can live with that on your shoulders." He turned and left through the portal, leaving his Revblade stuck in the top of the train.

[Dark Margin]

Cory sat down on the rocks by the shadowy beach, staring off into the horizon with a blank expression on his face. Time seemed to stand still as he attempted to conjure a plan of action, a way to defeat the Replicas without the aid of the other Earthlings.

"Tch... so many troublesome things on my mind..." Darkness began to emanate from the ronin, bringing with it an indigo glow. "Darkness, light, Replicas, originals... And the ones who created the Replicas... Mateus' allies and hist host..." The darkness became accompanied by the Indomitable Will now, activating itself off of Cory's determination. "If I were to accept Darkness completely, I could gain more power quickly... But in the long run it will weaken me. If I were to banish the darkness I have already from my hearty I would lose power, but gain even more potential..."

~You wish for only power?

Cory nodded to his summon's question before saying, "I want to keep this world. I want to keep this power. I want to stay healthy."

~Healthy?

"Yeah... I might still be a mental case, but my body is healthy here." He clenched in hand into a fist, the Will and Darkness intensifying around it as he added, "More than that. My body is fast. It's strong, and durable. I was tossed around like a rag doll by the definition of 'berserker' through castle walls and survived. I clawed my way out of death. Out of all the earthlings, I'm probably the most resistant to Darkness..."

~If you're so powerful now, why do you crave more?

"Because it's not enough. Kuja, the Replicas, and probably that Mateus guy... They're all stronger than me. So..."

~So?

The ronin remained silent for a long time, staring as the horizon as the darkness and Will burned about his body. Finally, he got to his feet, a cocky grin on his face as he finally answered, "So I wanted to crush them. And put them back in their place."

~So you've not changed at all...

The Darkness faded from Cory's body as the Indomitable Will began to burn erratically, burning in shapes and patterns around the ronin. "Wrong." The flames suddenly gained essence, revealing that they had become a set of samurai armor and helmet. "I'm different now, because I've embraced my hatred and loneliness. It is a part of me now, and I will guard my heart with those negative emotions."

[ Kuja ; Kyle ; Sora ]

Kyle stopped as the blade whizzed by him, having known it had been no actual attack- Cory wouldn't be that stupid. He never turned around, only stood in place as the ronin spoke to him, insulting him, attempting to strike deep.

And so he did.

The older male disappeared, and Kyle glanced up, a stoic face staring at the blade that was stuck into the train.

"Hey... you know, it's not your-" Sora attempted to say walking forward and hoping to reassure Kyle- it was obvious from his cold facade that he'd taken it rather heavily. However, he'd been interrupted mid-sentence by Kyle's blurred movement.

The teen had swiftly leapt to the train top, his legs glowing with a bright white aura, which shifted to his arms the moment he grabbed onto the Rev-Blade, planting his legs against the train. Without so much as a grunt, he removed the blade from the train and landed on the ground, beginning to walk into the Lounge Car, ignoring Sora and Kuja. He dragged the blade across the train floor to the front of the car, beside the exit to the train car, and began to press buttons on a small terminal, most often used to give announcements. However, he'd played with it boredly during their last trip, and discovered a few other tricks. The one he decided to employ now-

"Cory, owner of this blade, is no longer allowed on this train," he spoke, his voice revealing a minuscule amount of frustration. He then lifted up the Revblade in front of the terminal, which seemed to process something. "Timmy, owner of the Dual-Shields, is also no longer allowed. Both have declared themselves enemies and should be locked out."

The terminal beeped twice, the small screen revealing that it had accepted the 'new terms', and went dead again. As it did so, Kyle once again stalked out of the Lounge Car (just as Sora had entered, walking over to the group around Rae). He once again charged his blade arm with Holy energy, and with a power twist of his arm, tossed the blade through the air, lodging it into a tree on the other side of the crater.

With that done, he glanced once at Kuja, who had merely raised his eyebrows at him, before walking toward the back of the train, bypassing the other cars and heading into the Stable Car.

[ Zexion ; Enchantress : Inside Train ]

"Then they're holding her heart, much like Hades was holding Aladdin's," Zexion responded, strolling past Jenny (though he did pat the girl on the shoulders hesitantly) into the Lounge Car, where he looked toward the small gathering around Rae's form. He didn't need to approach her to smell the difference. His gift of enhanced smell allowed him to smell the changes in the darkness in one's heart (unless it were hidden); her heart was very definitely absent.

"... we should call Merlin. He still needs to come down and pick up the Enchantress, regardless," he muttered, glancing now to the aforementioned woman; the goal of their quest was not only to help the Wise Ones, after all, but to send them to Disney Castle, where they would all attempt to figure out the puzzle that was going on. "They'll need to bring her to the Castle, where they can keep her body safe until the heart is recovered."

[Joseph: Inside Train(Lounge Car)]

The male, while not reacting to anything, was actually quite aware of what was going on around him. He just...didn't have the will to react to it. Not yet, anyways.

Of course, the mentioning of having Rae sent to the castle made his eyes open and his head lift. As he stared at Rae, he thought. He thought, and thought, and one could probably hear the gears in his head clicking and turning.

He now had a decision to make...

[ ??? : Jadis' Castle ]

"I... did not choose my path," she explained hesitantly, stepping aside as two Guado servants began to summon a table to place the coming food. "I chose to help... but I did not choose what that would entail. Not that it matters; I am forever bound to this path."

With the tables (and chairs) now in place, a number of Guado strolled into the hall, effortlessly carrying large plates of food, ranging from types of meat to vegetables, and even pitchers of drink.

"Come, you should eat an actual meal. What you've been able to scrounge up on the island can hardly be considered healthy for a warrior," she spoke, a small hint of care in her voice as she tried to change the subject.

[Nick :: Jadis' Castle]

"Well, that's...surprising, really. It's odd that you're stuck on this path, but I hope you find your calling on your path...Or something." Nick muttered in response, unsure of her answer. He could only imagine what forced her on this path...Maybe she was threatened or her family was being held hostage. It was a scary thing to be forced upon this path, and he quietly wished for her to be free of this curse.

He quietly took a seat, then stared at her with an expectant gaze for her to join him. He was raised to not eat without everyone seated. It was a simple rule, but proper ettiquette-wise.

[Dawn : HT/BC : Lounge Car -> Dining Car]

Dawn, who had been leaning against the far wall, glanced up when Kyle walked past. She flinched a little hearing a few words of what he said. It had seemed harsh to her. It wasn't long before she saw him walk past her once more and out of the train. After he left she let out a heavy sigh.

"Why do things have to be this way...?" she asked herself out loud as she looked up at the ceiling.

~'You know you can help the others right? Instead of standing around give council or something to help.'~

Dawn blinked hearing the Summon's voice. She knew she was right, but where was she to start?

With that Dawn pushed herself off the wall and started to make her way into the Dining Car. She stopped when she saw Jenny standing alone crying her eyes out. Dawn could tell the girl needed a hug or some form of comfort. She slowly took a few more steps to Jenny, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. As the other remained pressed to her own chest.

"Hey..." she said in a loud whisper in attempt to comfort. Dawn did her best to give a small smile but it probably wouldn't help Jenny much. It was the best she could do at the moment, sides letting Jenny cry into her chest. Which she would more than willingly allow her to do.

[Mulan & Mushu : LoD : Throne Room]

"Talk about a jerk!" Mushu shouted from his perch still on Alan's shoulder, "I say we fry this guy extra crispy!"

Mulan continued to eye the armored man who had threatened and was now attacking the group. This man was powerful, after what she witnessed him do to one of the boys in the group.

"Shang guard the Emperor!" she shouted to her husband before rushing into battle, not waiting for an answer.

She quickly drew her sword and readied to swing her sword and defend Kichi.

((Kyle, I know I said in my reply to your PM that Evan and I would both be posting, but he's working on his workstation right now to make sure tomorrow doesn't go as horrid as tonight did. Potential job loss in the first few days of starting a new one is fun. smile I'll try to get him to post in the morning assuming his insomnia doesn't kick in again... in which case, it might be afternoon... >_>))

{Bobbi | Nanaki .:. HT/BC .:. Outside train >> Dining car}

Bobbi wasn't quite sure of what to make of the two Rae's. Her mind wasn't quite up to par, and her mana drain was affecting pretty much everything about her, not to mention dizzying her and making it very hard to see straight.

When Cory attacked, and the other Rae revealed herself as the Replica, Bobbi managed to get out a quick "f--" before the dark explosion sent her flying. The "uck!" only came out because she slammed her head against a tree at just the wrong angle, so her throat and vocal cords were compressed just right to make the noise.

Nanaki was immediately suspicious that one of the Rae's was the replica, however due to the exactness of the copy, he was unable to determine which was which through scent or sight alone.

That is, until, the black wings betrayed the others' true nature.

He yelped in surprise and pain as the dark eruption sent him flying, and he was unable to land properly, thus rolling a few feet to a halt after impact. He was going to attack, but the Replica was already gone, to be replaced with Rae's terrified scream, and the appearance of yet another Replica.

And, of course, the most horrifying event of all.

"No," Bobbi whispered, seeing the precious Heart floating in Elleon's grasp. "No, Rae, NO!!!"

Bobbi surged to her feet from where she had slumped to the ground, Taulmaril raised and an arrow notched in the blink of an eye, aimed right between Elleon's eyes, but too late. The Replica had already gone through, with Noelle close on her heals.

"NOELLE!" the Archer screamed, tossing Taulmaril to the side, allowing the silver bow to dissipate as she ran to where the Replica and Agromancer had disappeared from. She reached the portal moments after it closed, dropping to her knees and skidding to a halt. She screamed in frustration, anger, and sorrow as she repeatedly pummeled the ground with a gloved fist, scraping her knuckles bloody on the earth and rocks.

"No! Don't leave! Noelle, Rae! Come back! Please! Come back!"

Her fist slowed it's pounding as she curled up on herself, hugging her arms tightly to her chest as wracking sobs reduced her shrieks to a pained whisper.

"Come back..."

She didn't notice anything else going on around her. She couldn't hear anyone's voice over the sound of her own wracking sobs. She didn't even notice as everyone started filing into the train.

Nanaki was pained at the loss of the White Mage. Perhaps not as much as most of the children, but he had hoped she could become someone he would be willing to call a friend. He looked around at the children, each expressing their grief in their own way. Some were more vocal than others, some valiantly held it in to complete their duty... There was nothing he could do to aid any of them, so with the rest of the group he boarded the train, and headed to the dining car, not wanting to intrude on the grief of those closest to the lost one.

{Zell .:. Train .:. Engine Car >> Lounge Car}
Zell heard some sort of commotion outside the train, and felt the shock of some sort of explosion. He heard some of the kids coming in--at least he assumed it was the kids since it certainly wasn't Kuja, Zex, or Silver walking around out there with more than eight pairs of feet.

The conductor wiped his hands on his shorts and walked out into the Lounge car, looking around at all the sad, tear-stained faces.

"What's up?" he asked, having no idea what was going on. "Something go wro--what happened to Rae?!"

{Riku | Demyx .:. LoD .:. Throne Room}

Riku was having one of those rare moments where it seemed like too much was going on at once. Jafar, Seymour, the Emperor, the new kid, the guy in the armor, the battle--crap, the battle? Great. Just freaking great. Not what he needed right now, despite the Curaja.

He really wanted to yell at everyone to knock it off, kiss and make up, things like that, but he wasn't that kind of guy. Instead, he raised the Road to Dawn and looked for an opening. Instead of rushing in for an attack, Riku raised his hand and fired off a Dark Firaga at the man's side, hoping at least one of the attacks going in would hit.

Demyx was impressed with the spell-gun-kickass thingy of awesome and win, but other than that didn't grasp much that was going on. The new kid was throwing around some pretty impressive water jets, but even Demyx could have told him don't throw the base element of your enemy's element at your enemy! It was obvious the dude used Ice, so Newbie over there throws water at him?! Lame! He had a freaking fire spell, obviously since he was using it now, why didn't he just lob a fireball in Frigid Freakshow's direction?

...crap, he was picking up Axel's nickname fetish. He'd have to correct that later. Until then...

"Hey! You! With the book! And the water and the fire! What were you thinking?! Talk about stupid, why I oughta--"

The Melodious Nocturne was cut short by the newest battle emergence, and all he could do was groan.

"Great, just great. These brats are gonna get me killed! Again!"
PostPosted: Tue Apr 06, 2010 9:29 am

[Alan :: LoD :: Throne Room]

"I don't know," Alan said in response to Demyx, "maybe I didn't want to light the throne room on fire? Maybe I thought it would freeze over and restrict his mobility?" Just once, he would really like something in this world to make sense. Besides, if the pressurized spike of water didn't even damage the armored man, Alan saw little reason to suspect that his other magic would fare better. Other than fire, of course, which was out of the question.

Then, the battle broke out.

As the armored man spoke, Alan became increasingly angry. He stood fuming momentarily as the battle broke out - everything was just happening too fast. Then, without even really thinking about what he was saying, he began shouting at the armored assailant over the din of the struggle:

"Who's Ultima? Who's Kyle? Who are you? Why are you so fixated on Jon? I've been wandering in the wilderness for the past five days - these are the first moving things I've seen that weren't animals or didn't try to kill me on instinct. I have no idea what's going on here. What part of any of that sounds like I've made a decision to you?!"

"And you're really half-hearted about this whole persuasion thing, aren't you? Just attacking us the moment you encounter any resistance to your proposal. . . you didn't even try to offer a reason why we might want to listen to you. I'm tempted to agree with the dragon." He gestured to Mushu, who was perched on his shoulder.

[[Louis : LoD : Throne Room]]

The glaciermancer felt his balance go as he fell backwards slightly due to Kichi's counter, leaving a crack in his helmet, followed closely by a sword, a fireball incoming, and shouts from the mage. The next few movements flowed through like water. Louis bent backwards, the blade passing right over his chest. Louis' hands froze to the floor, his feet flipped up following his momentum, his feet clamped on the swordsman's sides freezing in place, then with an inhuman strength he flipped the man over his head and into the floor on the other side of the fighter. As Louis returned upright he continued backwards again, slinging the fighter out from under him, sending him flying back at Kichi, only to be intercepted mid-flight by the dark-firaga.

Louis righted himself once more glancing to the side only a moment to late to avoid Mulan's sword. As it skimmed across his torso, cold sparks shimmered off the armor and scattered across the floor. As he examined the scarring damage to the armor, Louis' hand thrust forward and blasted a pillar of ice from underneath Mulan, What a weak heart.. not worth much of anything.

[John.:LoD:.Throne Room]

John was released from his frozen prison with a sharp sense of pain in his chest. As he flew through the air, a sense of relief passed over him as the humid atmosphere cradled him and provided a warm soft contrast to that of the ice he was in before. He opened his eyes slightly and was frightened to see the wall of the palace coming to his head at an alarming rate. John hit the wall hard and crumpled to the ground. The trauma to his head made him lose consciousness for a short period of time... and there, he saw her one more time.

---

Cue: Fiore Intro

John looked to her as he ran up to her. Both of them were now standing on the hill that overlooked a vast field. It was familiar to him as he had seen it many times before in his past life. The sun was setting and it made the shadows of the trees long like outstretched hands. He stood there for a long while staring at her beauty, admiring all that she was to him and everything that he had ever dreamed of in a woman. Her beauty soared past all language and he could no longer give justice to how passionately he felt toward her.

He held her close to him... so close that she would never leave him no matter what would happen. Embracing her with all of his love and passion and everything that he could no longer express to her. In their eyes were tears and for John, it was what he pictured to be heaven. He rocked her back and forth and sung to her softly in an indistinguishable melody that held in it sweet dissonance that only they could appreciate. The power of the bond that held them together would never be broken.

Though, the sun set fast and without warning, and he was in the darkness, but he could still feel her and knew that she was there. In vain, he held tight to keep her from departing him once more. The agony that he felt when she left would be like all the similar accounts he had before, and he was not about to let the occurence happen any more. He held tightly and sobbed hard... trying, in vain to keep her alive and well and safe, giving her a security that she had never felt in her entire life. Trying desperately to reach out to her and give everything of himself to her.

The sunlight shown once more from an unknown angle and she was gone. He held tightly onto nothing, but air. She left him, like he had left her, and he couldn't be a part of her life any longer. The cruel acceptance of his fate did not come without flashes of anger, however.

John hysterically fell to the ground and let out a cry of anguish. He looked to the sky and felt as though the beauty of it alone decided to mock him. If he was truly under the watchful eye of his god, then why was he allowed to be tormented so. Teasing him. Playing with him like a little puppet on a string. Stripping him of all of his heart and leaving him with nothing left inside but the empty shell of a loveless man.

He decided, therefore, to try and continue to move on past her. He would still love her, but, because he concluded that he was likely dead in some state of limbo, he would simply continue on in knowledge that he would someday see her in heaven. It was punishment he presumed for all the sins of the flesh that he committed under the watchful eye of God, and he would venture to complete his journey, or else rot in hell.

John looked over to the sun, and saw that it was setting. He sat down on the hill, lonesome but strong, and watched the natural beauty that he missed oh so very much. The sun set and he could rest easy.

---

John woke up in a pile of rubble on the side of the palace after a small period of unconsciousness that was covered the other's attacks. His body ached terribly, but he still could move for an odd reason. The physics of the universe he was in now simply did not make sense...

Get up and move! He's still here!

He came to his senses and attempted to use up any more mana that he had in him. He knew that ice didn't conduct electricity well... but...

"Stun!"hollered John as he raised the end of his hammer toward Louis.

He felt the last of the mana drain away from him and now realized that he should have probably saved it for a more effective spell rather than one that might have a small chance of immobilizing Louis slightly... A quick beam of electricity shot out of the end in an attempt to immobilize Louis.
