If felt good to have the wind in her wings, but that thought was cut off by the sight of the dark clouds. Lin made a mental note about the weather around here, it was still warm, the chances of thunder was great.
"Rain!" she shouted back down, "We need shelter and I would suggest not under a tree, there's a good chance it might thunder. That and I don't know if it'll turn into a full out storm or not."

"Not under a tree?" Earendil cried incredulously. "Where else are we supposed to find shelter? In case you'd forgotten, we're in the middle of a jungle here!"
There was nothing but trees for miles around them - at least, in the directions he had already charted. He wasn't sure what was further inland, but he suspected that it would just be more trees.
The wind suddenly began to pick up, and the previously calm air was suddenly filled with a soft breeze.

"I was always told it's a bad idea to stand under a tree during a thunder storm, because lightening is more likely to strike things like trees," Lin replied, "And being strike by lightening is really bad thing."
She quickly went back down the tree and even went as far as to jump down the rest of the way using her wings to slow her drop. Standing up and brushing the dirt from her fingers she then added.
"Either way we need to find shelter that is better than tree, because those clouds don't look very nice."

Earendil was torn. On the one hand, he wanted to see the clouds and the rain - he had never seen rain before, and had only once seen a cloud - but he also felt that it would be wise to trust Lin's judgment since she did know about such things much better than he did.
"Any ideas?" he asked her as she brushed herself off. "I mean, I've charted most of this area already, and it's nothing but trees. No caves, no rocks, no shelter of any sort. The only direction I don't know is inland, but I'm sure that would only be more trees!"
Suddenly the air was filled with the soft sound of the first drops of rain hitting the treetops above them.

Crap was the first thought that came to Lin's mind, she should have brought a tent or something when she packed. She looked up and hoped it wouldn't downpour otherwise those leaves might not provide a good enough shelter. Though the thought made her shiver, she had recalled wondering at one point or another how a tropical lush island could be what it was without rain.
"We might have to take our chances inland," Lin murmured, "It doesn't sound bad now, but I do recall someone once asking how this place could be lush without rain, apparently it rains, and logic would dictate it should rain a lot to support an island like this."

As Lin spoke, the rain got just a bit louder, heavier, and soon the first droplets were dripping from the leaves above them. Earendil flinched involuntarily as a drop of water hit his cheek. It surprised him more than anything, though he wasn't sure why - he knew what rain was, even if he had never seen it before. Still, it amazed him.
"Then inland it is," he murmured, holding out one hand in an effort to catch some of the rain.

"Let's go then," Lin murmured taking Earendil's hand before heading inland.
She didn't say it, but Lin disliked rain more than she disliked snow. At least with snow she was just cold and miserable, but with rain a person could be cold, wet and miserable. She had trained in this sort of weather, it was not fun.

Earendil blinked as Lin took his hand, startled out of his reverie, and then he started after her, quickly catching up and walking alongside her. After only a few steps, the sky opened, and it began to pour heavily, and within moments both of them were soaked through despite the protection of the leaves above them.
"So this is rain," Earendil chuckled as they went. "I've never been so wet in my life ... at least, not while fully clothed."

She could feel her hair clinging to the back of her neck and plastered at the side of her face. Maybe she should also consider if her hair was long enough to tying it up.
"Yup," Lin replied as she glanced to the skies every once in a while, no thunder maybe they were lucky and it would be just rain, "I've trained out in rain a few times, never liked it."

Earendil pursed his lips as the rain continued, just as heavy. "Well, it's not the most comfortable, I'll admit, but it's ... almost peaceful to listen to at least."
Though if he started getting cold he might change his mind.
He wished he knew where they were going

"As long as you're inside...." Lin replied with a chuckle.
She looked around wishing for something that was more stable than leaves, but she didn't see a cave, hell even a cliff ledge would do, but she wasn't sure if there would be any here, but as long as it kept the rain from hitting them it would do... as long as it didn't get windy then they would most certainly need a cave.

And with the heavy rain came darkness, which hampered their progress until they were going quite slow indeed. Earendil was worried that they might get lost, and he was getting worried about which direction they were heading now. There were so many trees they had to keep going around, there was really no way for them to know for sure which direction they were heading in.
"Inside would be nice," Earendil murmured wistfully as they walked. "If only there were an 'inside' that was nearby ..."

Lin was starting to idily wonder if she could teleport her and Earendil back to camp. At this rate they were going to get lost and wet, and being wet meant being cold and being cold meant getting sick.... Of course when she had asked for the gift of teleportation it had never occurred to her to ask if she could take people with her.
"Who knew it rained here?" Lin murmured, "Granted it made sense, and probably should have asked about the weather patterns a long time ago."
Actually that probably was one of the things they should have asked Kelirhic well that was a bit of hindsight.

"Shiro did say it looked like a rainforest to him," Earendil commented, reminding Lin of something Shiro had said on their first day on the island.
Suddenly, in a single step, they were out of the forest and in a large open area. Earendil looked around, his eyes straining in the darkness and the rain. There seemed to be little grass huts here ...
"Is this Kelirahc's village?" he asked, looking down at Lin.

Lin frowned looking around, specifically she was looking around for the markers of a large fire pit and the huts that would surround it, the elders' huts.
"Yes, but Shiro also mentioned it didn't look like it rained at all, hence a rainforest."
Well that wasn't accurate, rainforest leaves were much thicker and they held water and it was humid there which was there was always moisture, which it wasn't here. Thankfully.
Was this Kelirahc's village? She had thought it was much further inland.
