Earendil looked at Lin, then looked over at Leyenda and her parents. "You really think it's going to be that simple?" he asked softly so that only she could hear him.
Leyenda looked a little afraid as her parents surrounded her and led her back towards the fires. Earendil couldn't blame her. Vanishing for five days, coming back married, and having such chaos upon her return ... it was a lot for anyone to take in, and Arwen and Roydon had been worried sick for days.

"No, but it's all that we can do at the moment," Lin murmured softly back, "The problem is no one knows how his 'elders' are going to react. I am dead certain Earendil that they are simply elves, but their history whatever that might be made them the way they are today."
She sighed and let Senka down to the ground as she looked back up at him.
"But history has proven that different looking elves never go over well. That isn't even counting the numerous cultural differences that the two are going to be facing. Earendil, you know as well as anyone else that it isn't simply just a marriage. Leyenda must have been courting unknowingly within those five days. Every culture has their courting quirks as it were, that and the fact we won't be staying here also complicates things. Overall it's just complicated, but at the moment we can't do anything until he comes back, because at this point how his people are going to react to him being married to woman who's colourings are probably by their standards a complete opposite of theirs is completely unknown."
She paused a bit a and then added.
"At least Leyenda lucked out, he seems like a good guy, the way the two dealt with each other is a bit on the violent side for my taste, but otherwise, his heart is in the right place."

"Violent side?" Earendil blinked at her. "Her, yes. But him? He just stood there and calmed her down as best he could ..."
He sighed. "But I know what you mean. This is a first, for both races. And I do agree with you, I think they're elves of some kind."
He started back towards the fires. "I just hope that he doesn't get blasted when he gets back there." He really was a nice man ... and he really did seem to care for Leyenda. Neither one of them deserved to be punished for that.
He looked towards the fire where Leyenda was sitting with her parents. He couldn't hear their conversation, but from the look on Leyenda's face, it wasn't a pleasant one.

"I think threatening to kill your best friend if they continue to threaten is a bit extreme," Lin replied, "I can see hurting, I can see mauling, hell Dad would probably threaten to break his best friend's jaw and arm if he thought Mom was being threatened but kill?"
Maybe it was just she had never been in love, maybe it was just she didn't understand what the other woman said, but if it had been say Kin who was doing the threatening Lin would have probably just threatened to send him to the ER. She probably could too if she tried.

"Keep in mind," Earendil murmured as they approached the fires, "you also didn't get the whole conversation. If you want clarification, ask Rhea. She's the only one who heard it all."
As fast as the two had been speaking, he was certain that she had just been paraphrasing.
Rhea was still standing where the confrontation had taken place, staring off into the sky.

"Hmm... true," Lin murmured.
She thought there really wasn't anything to be done. Either he was going to come back and things would be fine for the most part or he was going to come back and they would have to sail because a lot of people were pissed off.
"I hope we won't have to sail."

"I hope not, too," Earendil nodded sadly. "It really is a nice island ... and I've barely begun charting it."
Not to mention, Shiro wanted to explore and study so much more ...
"But I think we might be stuck here for a while anyways," he added, "if only so that Leyenda can get things straightened out ..."
Since it really was quite the mess.
He sighed. "I guess there's nothing we can do but wait until the morning."

Lin didn't bother to add she was more worried about them being chased off the island due to angry people who didn't want someone of Leyenda's colourings married to one of their own.
"Then let's eat... and try to rest, we won't know until morning and thinking about it any more will just drive some of us mad."

"As if we aren't already," Earendil chuckled softly.
When morning came, Leyenda was sitting outside the shelter, watching the sky anxiously. She had been up all night, and it showed: her eyes were slightly red, and very dry, and she looked utterly exhausted.
Shiro was asleep in the sand next to her. He had promised to be there to translate when her husband returned, but he had chosen to sleep while waiting for him.
No one else was watching for him either ... it seemed as though Leyenda was the only one who had faith that he would indeed return as promised.

Or rather just dead tired from being up thinking about it. It was really hard to sleep when you were worried about what had to be the weirdest thing to happen ever on a trip. Senka though was bright eyed and bushy tailed when she woke up and was more than happy to scamper over to Leyenda.
To commandeer her lap of course.

Leyenda gasped slightly in surprise as Senka appeared, but she smiled and picked up the little cat, placing her in her lap and stroking her gently. "It seems someone had a good sleep," she murmured softly. She smiled faintly. "Mother didn't send you here to tell me to sleep, did she?"
She knew she ought to have slept, but she didn't want to risk someone else meeting Kelirahc first and possibly sending him away again.

Senka blinked up at Leyenda as if being sent to do anything was a foreign concept. Which to an extent it probably was, since no one generally told her to do anything but Lin. At least nothing that involved a task.
"She's sleeping," Senka replied, "Everyone is sleeping."

Leyenda nodded slowly and kept petting Senka. "Good," she murmured. "Good ..." She sighed. "Senka, how much did you understand of what happened last night?"
Would she be able to talk to the cat about it? Or would it all go over her head? She felt as if she needed to talk to someone, tell them what had happened, without them judging her, but she wanted it to be someone who would understand what she was talking about ...

Senka blinked at Leyenda almost owlishly, she remembered last night. Last night was just weird even by her standards and she had pretty low standards when it came to what was weird and what was not.
"You have a mate, the end."

Leyenda blinked at Senka, then laughed out loud. "I suppose that's one way of putting it," she giggled, poking Senka on the nose, "but it's a bit more complicated than that."
She lay back on the sand, moving Senka so that she was lying on her stomach, and kept petting her. "Though I guess when it comes to elven rituals and so on, you wouldn't understand ..." She smiled faintly. "Sometimes I wish the world were as simple as you put it."
