Because Pen's arc seems to be drawing near, I wanna get a few things planned for mine. I'm not going to completely reveal the arc, but I'll be asking a series of questions (and answering any that you guys have that don't pertain to spoilers) that will give you a few clues about what's to come. I want to try this method so not only can I tell you what's happening without providing major spoilers, but you guys can put in your opinions, get an idea of a new arc, and end up thinking twice about your own characters. If this method turns out successful, I might use it again for future arcs that get the green light to stand in line. smile ________________________ So, the first request, with a little background: (Source: Mental World - TV Tropes) Background A mental world is any world that exists inside a person's mind (or heart, soul, whatever, but not their physical body). Similar to a dream land or cyberspace, a mental world does not follow the regular laws of physics, and may ignore or respond badly to characters trying to use logic or force. This world is usually entered by some type of telepathy, either magical or technological; if the character whose mind contains the mental world is sleeping or unconscious their individual dreamworld may be physically attached to a larger dream land or collective unconscious, which makes it able to enter by other dreaming or meditating people.
Symbolism is king, sympathetic magic may be in operation, and puns, metaphors, and metamorphoses are common. Because this world is based on an individual's (possibly incorrect) beliefs, it may contain multiple 'evil twin' versions of both the owner's personality and that of anyone else they know, especially the people exploring the world. Sometimes this works in the other direction, and changes made inside the mental world may change the beliefs of the individual who is the source of the world in question. So the first request is, I want you guys to pick ONE outstanding trait of your character's personality that will participate in the arc. Notes on this request: No TekTeks of your character's doppelganger, please. The trait needs to effectively identify your character It must be a personality aspect Negative aspects are preferred, but I can re-tool even the most positive of traits. I'll probably PM you with a few ideas that I come up with and we can work from there. No TekTeks. Not only does the trait need to identify your character, but it must also have been somehow linked to their actions in the past. Newer RPers are exempt from this rule. If you have multiple ideas, you can post them all if you want. I will only allow one trait to show up, so PM me so we can discuss it. Did I already mention no Tekteks? I really, really meant it. wink

Cool! But why no Tektek? Thats one of the few things this guild does a lot.
Also like to point out that my arc is a bookend arc. One part now last part later. The last part can go a long time since that one is the future part of the time travel arc.

I was considering no tekteks because the group is entering someone's mind. The person will have his own twisted perceptions of the people entering his brain, and that's kinda part of the point. Plus, they'll look kinda similar to the original person. I'm not turning anyone into a green dinosaur for the lulz wink

Alright Time Travel. This is a quick syllabus on what should happen.
A strange package is delivered to the HQ for the KGBO to protect. It arrives right after the gang has dinner and because of its strange arrival time they all sit in the lobby to see what the strange package is.
The device is about as wide a big peanut butter jar and as long as a paper towel roll. It seems something needs to be placed in at the top but nothing else was delivered. During the fiddling around with the thing the entire lobby is sent back in time.
First Stop: Beginning of the RP. The falls outside the HQ and have found themselves watching their first mission. They soon realize what the thing is and as one member holds the thing they are sent back in time again.
What I need is that for everyone who wants to participate is to come up with a past event. One where the gang can particpate. Such an event that could be avoided if they meddle a little or making sure an event happens.
Edit: I'll explain more when I get back from work but thats the basic plan.

Hm......... Dunno if I could do the time travel thing with the group without seriously ******** up anything I was writing. I can't mess with past events to avoid another because that first event was specifically written to be a catalyst for a specific one later. I can't cause events for the same reason.
tl;dr - My story's not very flexible because of how much planning I put into it. More than likely won't participate (unless someone gives me an idea on something I can change). I'll just get to work on setting up my arc with the proper character development at HQ. That way, when everybody gets back to HQ, it goes from one arc to another seamlessly.
PS: If you want me to do illustrations too, put " [placeholder] " at the very top of the corresponding post and I'll draw a sketch according to what's going on. I'll edit it in when it's done.

I took that in account that messing with the past would also mess up story. "Making sure an event happens" is still an option. A event that we already knows happens and still stays that way because the present gang was meddling.
Best example of this would be in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban." When Harry and Hermonie were using the time turner to go back a few hours they messed with the events. Such as rescuing Buckbeak, throwing a stone at past Harry so they will leave the hut, or Harry saving himself and Sirius.
Therefore your character's past event could be making sure that a pivotal event runs as we remembered it.
The other option is literally changing history for the better. A event that we will know that would happen and stopping it. Ultimately changing the course of time.
Now for Rules:
* The gang cannot tell there past selves who they are. No I'm you from the Future deal. Ultimately the warning will be having no contact but, if anyone has seen Back to the future, sometimes its unavoidable.
* PM me a summary of your past event so I can rig up a time line. I'll post it here when done.
* Because the gang is from a separate time line there characters and personalities will not affected by the time changes. They might take something from the traveling but they still lived through the past they remembered.
* Traveling to the Future will be for later. 3nodding
Any questions?

Sounds very promising. But with the gang time traveling back to their first mission (which I was obviously not a part of), would I be sent elsewhere in my past? Or would I be able to participate at all in this arc?
i.e. How can I squeeze into this arc?

You new comers are going having the joy of not knowing what is coming next. xd You are going to follow everyone else and reading the first few pages would be good. Everyone will be staying out of the way of the past events so you won't be in the way.
Going back to the start is just an introduction. Realizing what they have, how it works, discussing how it would be disastrous if they messed with the course of time all the things Doc Brown said in 1985. xd
You can get in by moving along and seeing how your new co-workers have grown. It will be quite obvious that these characters will be not exactly the same Skotti, Luciano, Waffle and Pen you know now.
If you don't have an idea for a past event then participate in the other events. You won't be forgotten! I'll make sure of it!

Lol, I'm going to simply handle Past!Waffle as an NPC while also handling what's going on in the real timeline and setting up the events for my arc. You newer folks won't see Past!Sabe as he was introduced all the way on page 90. The first mission only takes up to page 30 or somewhere around there.

@ Pen: Ok, so, HOW far into the past can everyone go? Also, is everyone going to stay together in this or are we all seperating because we're being thrown back in time?

I originally wanted the gang to separate but that caused more problems. Worked well for the whole parallel dimension thing but not so good for time travel. But if everyone is in the same time period then being separated by the blast can be done.
I am not going to put any limiters on how far into the past. I personally am going so far back into Pen's past that what she sees is something she was never aware of. So if you want to go back to parent's first meeting then go for it. As long the rest of us can play then its not a problem.

Pen...Do you still have that e-mail? I sent you my past event earlier, but I can find it now. Though I still have the journal entry and I can basically type it up again. However 'm fearful I might miss something if I re-do.
