Avarice stood behind her, reaching out to take a single curl into his hand. "Tell me, my love, how desperately do you desire such a reunion?"

Clenching his fist, Avarice buried it deep into the tree until the bark cracked and splintered. "That's just it, don't you see? I. Don't. Want. To. Kill. You. I betrayed you, yes, and it is like a double-edged knife. That I drive deep into the cavity of my chest." It sickened him, that part of him that felt anything but his greed for power and the pursuit of knowledge. "I know that when I die, I want to die alongside you. The way it should be."

Kirai, suddenly appearing behind him, nearly nocked him down, wrapping her arms around his waist. A small piece of her soul with her, tears silently fell down her face. She had to kill him, but she did not want to. She wanted to fall in love with Edward, or to return Salazar's feelings, but she could not. "Why did you do this to me? I cant forgive, I cant hold a grudge, I cant forget, I cant remember. I dont want you to leave, I dont want to kill you yet." Her voice was as soft as a whisper, you could hear every determination, every love, every hate, every void, every emptiness, every tear in her voice. For a split second, in that close contact, she was complete, although dead in everyway a person or vampire can be dead yet still have breath in their lungs.

Kirai hesitated slightly before speaking. What did she feel? Everything? A second half of her, her shadow, hated her soul being so near. Placing her ice cold hand gently on the back of his head, Kirai said, "Edward saved what is left of me, and took the best of care for me for two hundred years. He was my only companion, my only friend, my confident. Salazar loves me, as well. It feels right when I am with him, although I can not truely feel at all. You were my husband, my first and only companion before I died. I feared you would kill me, but I loved you so much, and would wait with love and devotion as you forsaked me by marrying, bedding, and starting a family with Phantom. When you killed me, the physical drawn out torture was the worst pain in my life. However, the fact you were smiling as you did it made it all the more unbearable. Do you know how it feels when your body dies, Avarice? I dare to say to you," Kirai paused, "I dont owe you my tears, but I owe you that pain I can never return to you... Especially because I still love you just as much as I did then."

Kirai moved over closer to him, and gently moved the scapel away from his heart, dropping her own weapon as she did so. "Don't do that... I would feel the pain, as well. In addition, I refuse to make things that easy for you." Kirai kissed him, her lips like kissing a dead person, soft yet cold. "We reap what we sew, my dear one. Use that love, and not caring for the outcome, to find a way out of this torture maze you entrapped yourself in. Settle your debts with Edward, Phantom, yourself, and perhaps even Salazar, since I might love him had loving you not cost me everything. Be selfless by doing this, or return to your egotistic greedy and selfish ways so they are more than free to avenge themselves. This is my advice to you." Kirai took his hand which held the scapel, which she had lowered away from his heart, and kissed it. "Goodbye, Avarice. Maybe forever, maybe for no time at all. I have not decided my next move yet. Nothing is simple, nothing is trivial, nothing is pure, nothing is evil." With that, Kirai turned away, slowly picking her razor up from the ground. Facing away from Avarice, she said, "Since I can not decide, you decide for me. After that, even if I forsake your decision, know I will no longer hold personal accounts against you."
